I have so enjoyed Misty Beller’s other books that I really looked forward to this one. For me, the book moved too slowly and the characters were not as well developed. There was just not enough action. It took too long for the plot to thicken. I’ve read other reviews in praise of this book and I’ll try the next one in the series because I have liked her books so often. I received an advance electronic version of this book for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

I really liked this book. I thought it was a nice sequel to the first one. The characters are so unique! I feel like they could almost be real. Definitely one I will reread.

I really enjoy Misty Beller's writing. The descriptions are like you are there and the people are so real!
So, when a buffalo calf is found, they soon realize the the white coloring is rare and considered sacred by Native Americans, which makes it highly valuable to them and European trappers alike. So now they have to deal with strangers and Native Americans just showing up to see, honor or just steal if possible. Interesting story, action, mystery and yes a little romance.

Lorelai was frustrating to me while reading Rocky Mountain Rendezvous because she was trying to nurse a coyote pup and keep it with her while traveling. Many of the characters in the book told her how ridiculous she was being. Wild animals are wild animals. They're not meant to be tamed. But now that I've read Rocky Moutain Promise, I understand Lorelai a little better. She wasn't trying to adopt the coyote pup, but she was trying to care for him while he lost his mother. She knew he would die without her help. She had compassion for him. And that's basically the same thing that happens in Rocky Mountain Promise. Lorelai finds a white buffalo calf near his dead mother, and she knows that if she doesn't take care of him, then he will die.

Little did she know but white buffalo are revered by the Indians (Native Americans). They believe (in the story at least) that white buffalo bring prosperity. Regardless of the natives, white buffalo are rare and Curly--as Lorelai has named him--brings much curiosity, as well as danger.

Tanner is partnering with two other men to open a trading post. One of his partners is currently sick and the other is traveling to bring more goods to their location. So Tanner is manning the post by himself. He seeks out his neighbors to introduce himself and finds three women and a native. The Collins sisters and White Horse make for a unique neighbor. Tanner is drawn to Lorelai as well as the buffalo calf. He offers to trade for him which White Horse says is a no-go. Trading the buffalo calf would bring bad luck.

Juniper and Riley return from their travels along the Rocky Mountain range, and Lorelai realizes the danger that Curly is drawing to their ranch isn't good for her sisters. She agrees to take him to Tanner's post with White Horse and stay until Curly's injuries heal. Of course, while she's spending time at the post, she and Tanner grow closer.

However, the reason the Collins sisters went west to begin with was to find White Horse's mother, Steps Right. They didn't find her in book 1, and they are still searching for her in book 2. White Horse wants to find her more than anyone. There are hints of where she might have been staying.

I like the hints of a potential romance between White Horse and Rosemary. I'm hoping their story will come next in the series since Faith is the youngest and no mention has been made of any potential suitors. You know how often one story sets up the beginning of the next story.

Notable quote:
-"God hasn't rejected you. You are good enough exactly the way He made you. Better than good enough--you're perfect. Exactly the way He wants you."

The Spiritual relationships seemed a little bit like an afterthought in this book, but I don't mind it being a fictional story. In real life, I would hope the characters would have a more present and forefront relationship with Christ but I'll accept this as it is in this book. I will say that I disagree with the quote above. None of us are perfect as we are. None of us are "good enough." I get the point Lorelai was trying to make, but it's the very fact that we aren't and can't be enough or perfect that is the reason why we need Jesus Christ and His blood to cover us. Because HE was perfect, and HE was enough. Not us. We cannot do enough or be good enough on our own. Just a minor note I wanted to make.

Rocky Moutain Promise was better than I was expecting it to be. I was dreading Lorelai's story a little because I wasn't sure I could relate to her, but I shouldn't have worried. I do wish that Misty M Beller's characters had a little more passion at times, but I enjoy a clean romance where I don't have to wonder if the characters will drift into territory they should not. Rocky Mountain Promise gets 4 Stars. Have you read Rocky Mountain Promise? What did you think? Let me know!

It was so good to be back with the Collins sisters again. If you haven't read the first book I recommend you read it just because it introduces you to the sisters. The first book was about Juniper and this one is about Lorelei. Although you will be able to follow the storyline fine if you pick up this book first, its always nice to have a bit more background story on the characters plus there is a continuing storyline that still has not been resolved. I am hoping we get a bit more on the next book.

This book has a little bit of everything. Adventure, action, suspense and romance. Misty sure does know how to interweave all of those elements into a great historical background that not only transports you to the scene but makes you invest yourself into the characters.

Lorelei has a love for animals and her family. She loves big and at first she isn't quite sure about Tanner. Tanner is the owner of the trading station and although is not looking for love, he is intrigued by Lorelei. He has some past hurts to get over and Lorelei helps him see that God sees him a different way and loves him no matter what.

Overall I really enjoyed the story. Misty brings faith into the story and weaves into her writing flawlessly. It is present but not preachy which I thought was very well done. If you enjoy western historical romances then you will definitely enjoy this story.

This series centers on four sisters, the Collins sisters who came out West to fulfill a wish that their father had for them to do. This book is about the third oldest sister, Lorelei and her love for animals. This novel is quite different from the others but I really enjoyed it, it has a different twist. A new born albino Buffalo of all things was found forsaken by it’s mother and Lorelei is taken care of it and feeding it and is very protective of it. Also to the Indians this white calf has special spiritual meaning. Therefore it is worth much money to the white man to be sold because of the spirit attached to it. People start coming to the ranch to see this sacred calf, both Indian and white alike. Also to see these attractive females all along with no man to protect them. Tanner has just arrived and built a trading post intended to make a profitable business because there is no other around for miles. He feels very protective of the women because they are all alone. So he feels it is his duty to protect them from the Blackfoot Indians and also the unscrupulous white men. Also helping to keep the calf alive and safe. He can’t help but be attracted to this beautiful and caring young woman. This is such an interesting book with a different twist and one that I know that you will enjoy as well as I did…. I received a copy of the book from the publisher and the Author and was not required to post a positive review but I am happy to do so.

Rocky Mountain Promise is the second book in historical fiction/romance Sisters of the Rockies series. This particular book focuses on Lorelei, Lorelei finds a buffalo calf who has lost his mother. Due to the calf’s unique coloring, it is considered valuable to Europeans and Native Americans. As a result, several men have visited the sister’s ranch which puts the sisters and the calf in danger. In order to keep everyone safe, Lorelei, the calf and their trusted family friend move into the trade post which is owned by Tanner. As Lrelei and Tanner develop feelings for each other, there is danger lurking in the background.

Misty M. Bellerhas written another great historical romance. She continues to keep the reader updated with the other characters in the first book while introducing new ones. The stories include both romance and along with plenty of action. Therefore, the reader develops a connection with the characters and is looking forward to reading the next installment.

When Lorelei Collins discovers a rare white buffalo calf beside its deceased mother, she brings it home to her ranch, unaware of its sacred significance to Native Americans. As men vie for her hand and the valuable buffalo, Lorelei seeks refuge with Tanner Mason, the new owner of a trading post. Together, they face mounting danger and a threat that challenges not only their abilities but also the blossoming love between them.

Having not read the first book, I was hoping this one could stand on its own and it does! Enough information is given that a reader doesn’t absolutely need to read them in order, but I imagine fans of this author will be eager to read this series in order. Lorelei was an interesting, if a bit naive character, eager to save any animal she can, even if she isn’t sure how to do so. I was more interested in Tanner, and what had brought him to the mountains.

The one complaint I had about this story was how difficult it was to understand how much time had passed. I’m not sure if it was left vague intentionally, so that the romance did not feel too sudden, but I was frequently annoyed by this.

Overall, it was an enjoyable romance. It hints at the third book, and gives away just enough about the first book that a new reader to the series is not lost. I would recommend this to readers looking for an early American romance.

A Lot of Heart

The Sisters of the Rockies series continues with Rocky Mountain Promise, a novel that focuses on sister Lorelei, who’s heart for people and animals is her life’s motivation, as she puts others ahead of herself.

It’s a few months after the end of the first novel and there is a new man in town that is opening a trading post, Tanner Mason. The Collins girls are still a hot topic in the Green River Valley, so it’s no surprise that they are some of the first people that Tanner meets. It’s clear from the start that Tanner has eyes for the tenderhearted Lorelei, as her caring spirit shines brightly, and once he agrees to help her with the buffalo calf that she’s found their bond grows with their relationship.

Tanner and Lorelei are as natural together as breathing, as they complement one another in such a beautiful way. Lorelei’s heart for people and animals and Tanner’s calm demeanor and caring spirit pairs well together, and I loved every scene that they had with one another.

Though there is a calming flow to the narrative I didn’t feel like this book was as strong as the first book in the series, though it still holds a lot of charm and character. There is a light touch of mystery that is appreciated and the buffalo calf gives an endearing quality, especially when you see him interact with Lorelei.

Though it can be read as a standalone I do feel like this series benefits from being read in order if possible, as you become more vested in this world and these characters. I love the overall laidback feel of this series and loved getting to witness Lorelei’s love story. If you like historical fictions with a lot of heart, great characters, and breathtaking scenery then Rocky Mountain Promise is for you!

This book follows Lorelei Collins, sister of Juniper Collins from book 1. She has such a heart for animals, especially animals in need. In this story, we see Lorelei and her sisters on their ranch in the Rocky Mountain wilderness as she finds a buffalo calf without its mother. She brings it home to their ranch and soon realizes its a rare and sacred animal to the Native Americans, making it very valuable to them and the European trappers in the area. Many men come to the ranch for the calf, many with ill intentions. Tanner Mason, the owner of the new trading post, sticks around to help Lorelei by allowing them to stay at his post for safety reasons. Danger looms though, a bit too close to home....

If you like a good western romance, pick this series up! I think I enjoyed book 1 a bit more, as the pacing in this was a bit off for me, but I overall enjoyed it and love Lorelei as a character! I love a good character who loves animals and wants to help. She has such a beautifully compassion for them that is very honorable. Tanner was a nice guy who wanted to protect her - and we see Lorelei opening up to the idea of it!

I also LOVE seeing the family relationship here with the sisters and seeing Juniper again was great! Overall, a solid western series that I have enjoyed following along with and look forward to the next one!

This is book #2 in the Sisters of the Rockies series.

Lorelei saves a rare white buffalo baby whose mother has been killed. She takes it back to her ranch that she runs with her sisters. She doesn’t know how she is going to feed him until Tanner shows up at the ranch telling them that he has opened up a trading post and he has a milk cow which they could buy the milk to feed the buffalo who Lorelei named Curly.
When word gets out about Curly and they start to get unwanted visitors who start causing problems, so they decide to move Curly to the trading post for his safety and also the Collin’s sisters safety. Lorelei ends up going to the trading post too to care for Curly.
Things continue to happen there, to find out grab yourself a copy of the book and enjoy.

While I appreciate a good wilderness journey adventure (which this author excels at writing), the atmosphere of the ranch and the fort brought a more homey vibe as Lorelei cares for the buffalo calf and Tanner establishes his business. Lorelei and her sisters show a great deal of care and loyalty for each other, and Tanner fit right in with his protective nature and desire to help solve problems. I also admired the sisters' Native American friend White Horse, whose mother they are searching for. It seems that the search will be the overarching plot that connects each book in the series. The white calf has a mystical history with the Natives and mountain men, and it was interesting to see to what lengths men would go to lay eyes on the calf, touch it, or just plain steal it. Lorelei and Tanner have their hands full, even with the help of White Horse, and the pace of the story increases as they protect the calf and the store while taking care of the ranch, Lorelei's sick sister, and coming close to finding the elusive Indian mother.

Lorilei is one of the Collins sisters. A family of capable, strong women, smart, savvy. Her strength is in healing animals. Tanner set up quite near their ranch with a fort for a trading post. He has some self worth issues. Quite the adventure when Lorilei finds a white buffalo baby. Wonderful family story, very close-knit and supportive yet they need to learn to let others help them as well. The town is still small and growing, so everyone knows each other and they help one another. Excellent faith lessons.

Lorelei Collins and her sisters have gone west and are still continuing to set up their ranch in the Rocky Mountains. Juniper has married, now the running of the ranch falls more on Lorelei and her two other sisters along with Native American White Horse. Lorelei has a soft heart for animals and when she comes across and orphaned white buffalo calf, she does not realize the rarity of this animal nor the trouble it will bring to her home and family. She certainly knows she will not leave it out in the wild, helpless.

Former police and now trading post owner, newcomer Tanner Mason has decided to make the Rocky Mountains home. As he rides out to meet his newest neighbors, he is surprised by a ranch being run by all women. He is most certainly surprised by the protective instinct he especially has for Lorelei. He also soon realizes how valuable this buffalo calf is, and how some unscrupulous men will not stop at the normal boundaries to possess such a creature. How can he run his post and protect Lorelei and her sisters?

This was a unique story surrounding two anomalies of that time, the white buffalo and a ranch mostly run by women.

This was a great addition to the Sisters of the Rockies series and watching Lorelei and Tanner fall in love. I liked seeing Lorelei's heart and care for Curly, the calf, and her mothering instincts were definitely kicking in. I am enjoying the tight knit community the sisters are acquiring. Looking forward to the other two sisters stories.

Rocky Mountain Promise is a wonderful series continuation. In this book, we focus on sister Lorelei and her adventures! A white buffalo sounds amazing! I’ve never seen one before. They’re so rare they were revered and sought-after during our country’s history. This is a fun historical fiction novel that I hope you make time to read.

It is also book two in the Sisters of the Rockies series. You’re going to want to read this series in order. As an animal lover myself I could deeply relate to Lorelei in parts of the book. My oldest daughter is next to read the book and I see so much of Lorelei in her. Determined to protect their animals they both are!

The characters were wonderful and I loved getting to know a few new ones. Add in a bit of danger coming their way and that increased my reading pace. I couldn’t put the book down! Now, I need book three! I hate waiting for series to come out but they’re always worth the wait!

How could one baby buffalo cause so much trouble?

The intrepid Collins sisters are back in this second Sisters Of The Rockies. This time it's tenderhearted Lorelai who has readers quickly turning those pages to find out what happens next. And trust me, there is A LOT of what happens next! Misty M. Beller takes her heroine and hero on one adventurous ride of danger and romance in Rocky Mountain Promise.

Over the last few years I've come to enjoy Misty M. Beller's brand of historical romance. They always feature a small cast of characters that are easy to keep track of who's who, plenty of danger from multiple sources, a dramatic landscape, and sometimes a little mystery such as in this series. The Sisters Of The Rockies has all of that and I've particularly liked the sisters dynamic that really keeps the fellas in their lives on their toes.

Rocky Mountain Promise proved to be another enjoyable read and I finished more quickly than I had anticipated. The biggest problem is that, as with every other series that I like, now I have to wait for the next book to come out. There were some little hints and beginnings in Rocky Mountain Promise that I am anxious to hopefully see them play out in the next Sisters Of The Rockies book from Misty M. Beller. And, so I wait...

This was an adventurous and suspenseful story that I enjoyed very much. Not a dull moment. Tanner Mason who has moved to the country lifestyle comes upon great friendship with his neighbours; the Collin sisters. He is understandably insecure about forming a new relationship due to his past, but I was delighted to read how Tanner soon became a part of Lorelei's family as he is such a likeable character. I'm glad Lorelei chose Tanner over Curly! So much goes on in the land of the west because it can be quite dangerous to be living out there alone.  A happily ever after ending for Lorelei and Tanner, but there was just a tad bit too much romance for me. I received this e-book for free from Celebrate Lit Tour and the opinions I express are honest and my own.

I enjoyed reading this next book in the Sisters of the Rockies series. I loved getting to know more about these women and their lives out West. I loved seeing Lorelei's love for animals and how she will do anything to protect them. I also liked how protective Tanner was of Lorelei and the buffalo calf. I liked seeing their romance grow as they worked together to protect the calf from unscrupulous men. I also liked the sisters' relationship and how they were such a tight knitted group. I'm looking forward to reading about the other sisters in future books.

This is book 2 in the sisters of the Rockies series but it can be read as a standalone. Book one was Juniper’s story and this one is Lorelei’s story. Set in the 1830s, it is still a “wild” undeveloped country and the Rockies is home to Indians as well as trappers. Lorelei has a tender side for any animal so when she comes upon a baby buffalo that has just had the mother killed, she takes action. This baby is a rare white albino that is revered by the Indians and sought by the white man.
When the farm becomes too dangerous for Lorelei and her rare white buffalo, she seeks shelter with the owner of the trading post, Tanner Mason. Has she unknowingly brought danger to Tanner as well as herself?
Whenever I see a book authored by Misty Beller, I know it is one that I must read. She is a great storyteller and brings the characters and their surroundings to life. I highly recommend.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series but this one was even better. The Collins sisters are such strong woman who are always there for each other. Lorelei has a big heart for animals and finds a sweet little white buffalo calf she names Curly. He definitely steals the show in this book and ends up bringing a lot of trouble for the sisters and Tanner. Through all the turmoil, Lorelei ends up showing Tanner that he is worthy of not only God’s love but her’s also.
