I adored this little book and its message. It's okay to be differnt. We all know that mittens come in pairs, but sometimes it's okay to wear two that don't match! Not being perfectly alike in every way doesn't make you less valuable and it doesn't mean you can't belong!

So sweet and highly recommend adding it to your Littles library.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC. I really liked this book! It teaches children about concepts like inclusion, being different or the odd one out, and friendship in a cute and unique way. Children will learn to treat others how they want to be treated because the tables can turn! I look forward to sharing this with my school.

What an adorable book about inclusion. I have often said I will become that purple hat wearing, wacky old lady who doesn't care what anyone thinks, and this message about celebrating differences really hit home for those aspirations. I have some emulating to do!

I'm grateful for the introduction to this author, and look forward to finding more whimsical and insightful books from her.

Bailey presents a sweet and very funny tale of warm woolen mittens that will warm your heart. I love the message about things not matching, and giving everyone a chance to shine . . . or at least play in the snow. A delightful book!

Such a sweet story with great lessons. Fun illustrations. As the title says, it starts out with 3 mittens, which means the unmatched mitten is left out. The little girl overhears the discussion about you have to be the same to be worn. Why? This gets everyone thinking and soon changes are made. Then it becomes a trend at school. A good lesson reminding us we don’t have to be the same to get along. This story will stick with me for a long time. Looking forward to more by this author. I received a copy from NetGalley and the publisher to review. I would buy and read this to my great grandchildren. My review is unbiased and my own opinion.

Three Little Mittens is an adorable story about a little girl with two matching mittens, and one sad, lonely mitten who never gets worn because it’s missing it’s match. On the outside this is a cute tale about talking mittens (and socks, and shoes…), but take a deeper look and you’ll discover a story about discovering your individuality. The little girl in this book takes the opportunity to bring others together instead of causing a deeper divide, which is a pretty good lesson for everyone. In a world where everyone is trying to fit in Three Little Mittens celebrates being uniquely you and standing out for that very reason!

Special thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book. Three Little Mittens is set for publication October 24. Check it out and let me know what you think!

This was a cute kids book on belonging. It would be a great read to a class in the winter, as a way to reinforce accepting each other for who they are and provide solace from the inevitable lost mittens!
The illustrations were beautiful and featured a nice range of mitten patterns and people. I would add this to a classroom library.

This book was such a fun surprise!

I was not expecting this story line at all... I giggled several times over the reality of always having a couple mittens or socks that have lost their match..

Besides being a cute little story with quirky illustrations, I think there were a couple great lessons to learn.. like treating others how you want to be treated, because roles can reverse.

And this simple passage "Now that they stopped worrying about matching, they could focus on other things."
That line is so impactful.. just by replacing the word "matching" to whatever might apply to you at the time.

5 out of 5 stars!! I can't wait to add the physical copy to our shelves.

This story made me giggle! We all have a drawer full of socks that don't have a matching pair...and mittens are no different. I'd never thought of wearing mismatched mittens...socks is different, no one can see. But this little girl is onto something, why do they have to be the same? Who cares! They all seem to be having fun regardless.
This book is cute! Teaches you it's okay to be different. It's okay to stand out. It doesn't have to be an all or nothing attitude. You can wear the darn mismatched mittens and make the snowball! Everyone deserves a fighting chance.
I really loved the message and the illustrations are the cutest!!

I loved both the story and the art of The Three Little Mittens. The art is soft and fluffy like winter snow. The story is about how mittens come in pairs. At first the mittens themselves see no use for a single mitten. Once your match is lost, your little woolen life is virtually over. But when the little girl that the mittens belong to, loses one mitten each from two pairs, the remaining mittens have to learn to work together, even if they don't match! I did not predict where this story would take the reader. It was a delight from beginning to end.

The Three Little Mittens by Linda Bailey is a heartwarming story filled with life lessons on friendship, belonging, and being yourself. Young readers will relate to the loveable mittens as they navigate and accept their own differences. Linda Bailey delivers a delightful tale about the all-too-familiar feeling of not belonging. This is a charming book that kids won’t want to put down!

This Is About So Much More Than Mittens

What a sweet, light-hearted book! I love the message that it's perfectly acceptable and even fun to do things differently. It offers a perfect solution to mismatched mittens, but it suggests so much more.

Kids can have meltdowns over things not being the way they're "supposed to be" and it can take a lot to get them to move on and cope. Pointing out how being mismatched and different can be fun and appealing to a child's innate understanding of fairness is genius. Demonstrating how all those single mittens are so happy to get a chance to play, and that other children want to do it too, encourages kids to try something unconventional.

The illustrations are excellent as well. I love the portrayal of all the different kinds of mittens. The colors are cheerful and will be greatly enjoyed by Pre-K to early readers.

Thank you to author Linda Bailey, artist Natalia Shaloshvili, Penguin/Tundra, and NetGalley for the free advance reader's copy of The Three Little Mittens. Their gift didn't encumber me with any obligation. I enjoyed the story immensely and can't wait to read it to my grandson!

The Three Little Mittens is the story of a girl and her three mittens. At first, the matching pair (Dotty and Other Dotty) are mean to the extra mitten (Stripes), but when Other Dotty gets lost, Dotty gets to know Stripes and they become friends. When Other Dotty is found, they all get to know each other, and the little girl decides she doesn't always have to wear matching mittens. Sometimes it's fun to be mismatched! She eventually gets all her extra mittens out and turns mismatched mittens into a new trend, then the socks join in the trend too!

This is a beautiful book about diversity, acceptance, and not judging people by the way they look! The illustrations are awesome (all the mittens look so fuzzy!), and the message is something all kids should learn. Adults too! 😂 Loved this so much!

Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this advanced review copy (ARC) in exchange for my honest review on the book!

Very cute children’s book the illustrations are definitely remarkably beautifully detailed. Little girl loses one of her favorite gloves, Dotty. She is still wearing the other Dotty. Now what does she do? She needs to pair it with one of the striped wooly pair. Then it would be alone. So no one would be left out, Just Unpair them all and let her pick two mismatched gloves anytime she needs gloves. The socks hear and want to do it too. Her mom is happy because she doesn’t have to sit and pair anything anymore. Very special book that shows how to let everyone have a voice and think through your problem to fix it and not to leave anyoneout.and Yes I would definitely recommend this book to be in a children’s library at home or at school. Thanks to the following for allowing me to review early and to provide my own honest opinion.

Oh my gosh, this was so cute! I just loved the watercolors and acrylic design choices for this picture book. All those different personalities of the mittens, socks, shoes, etc. It just shows how everyone and everything can be different and unique, It was interesting how the story was wrapped around the winter and holiday seasons. I really enjoyed this one.

A sweet story about how a little girl teaches her mittens that matching, or sameness, doesn’t matter. Being different from others is what makes us all unique, and we can help others learn that too. Beautifully illustrated lesson even adults could love.

This story sends a good message about acceptance and not excluding others because they look different. This book is a good way to open a discussion on racism and that we shouldn’t judge or exclude anyone before we get to know them. It would have been nice to see the other pink mitten return near the end of the story to learn that there are so many wonderful unique mittens out there. Overall, this is a good story to read with younger children.

Thank you to Penguin Random House Canada, Tundra Books and NetGalley or providing me with a free electronic copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I could not get over how adorable the illustrations are. Everything appears to have a texture. The mittens look fuzzy and warm. The dog looks cuddly. The girls hair is wild and curly.

A beautiful story about celebrating differences.
