This was a first time read for me by this author and I really enjoyed the writing style. It's a sweet fake relationship story that brings together an American lady and an English Lord. Oliver leaves England to go to America to escape a marriage he doesn't want that his father is trying to arrange. There, he meets Rose, who is also being forced into a marriage she doesn't want. They enjoy each other's company and begin finding ways to spend time together, and eventually enter into a fake relationship to appease society. But it doesn't take long for fake to become real and for love to sneak up on them.
A very clean, sweet, and innocent story that was a delight to read. Thank you to Netgalley for providing a complimentary copy. This is my honest and voluntary review.

I felt like I was missing something the whole read. I didn't see that this was part of a series but it sure seemed like with the peripheral characters. It just didn't do much for me.

It is a great book... but I was expecting both of the main characters to show a little more of emotions. I think their fake courtship needed to be a little longer... if they didn't said the words at the end, I wouldn't believe they had fallen in love. I do believe the idea for the plot was great but I needed a little bit more. I enjoy your way of writing and I will totally read the next one in the series.

I read a lot of different genres but historical fiction is one of my favorites. I love to go back to a simpler time when my grandparents were young. It’s like a breath of fresh air and I enjoy reading about the life style of the late 1800s.
Loving Oliver is a historical fiction that takes place in 1890. This is a cute romance novel that brings together an aristocratic English Lord and a pretty American lady. She had no title but her parents owned an emporium and were reasonably well off as far as money went. Lord Oliver Easton was wealthy but very kind and down to earth type of person. Rose Newman’s father was trying to arrange a marriage for her but she wanted to marry for love. Lord Easton’s Father was a Duke and he was insistent that his son would marry a lady of nobility . Oliver didn’t agree with his dad so on the first opportunity he went to America to escape a forced marriage. Then Lord Oliver ran into Miss Newman and this story begins.
I recommend this book to readers of Historical Fiction and Christian Fiction. This is book one of the Easton Brother’s series.
I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions expressed here in this review are my own.

An interesting twist on a romance in the Victorian Era. Lord Oliver Easton runs into Rose Newman as he was leaving a store, and she was spying on the couple inside the store. As a result, her present, a sculpture she had created for her mother's birthday, was crushed. He rushed to get a doctor to help her.. He apologized, went to the art supply store to tell the owner she is to pay for nothing to help make up for what happened. He also invited her to lunch, making sure her friend went with them as chaperone. They notice both of her friends were in love, and the two men did not know what to do. So, Oliver and Rose decided to help their friends' relationships develop further. They enjoyed each other's company, and decided to publicly court so that they can remain friends, but not feel society's censure. It was pretend until it wasn't.
This was a very sweet and innocent read. It was very short, so much happened in a very sped up fashion.
There were many, many characters, but there was no real need to learn who they all were. Most were his sister's new in-laws. He followed her from England to the West in the US to help her new husband start a ranch raising racing horses.
They were the most proper, almost shockingly proper characters I've ever read in novels. A kiss meant marriage. He. at the age of 26, had he only kissed women unless they were in his family, and only a peck on the cheek. He felt forward by kissing Rose on the knuckles of her fingers.
I would recommend this as the perfect introduction of historical romances to younger readers. There are only or two very chaste kisses. It is also appropriate for anyone looking for a sweet, innocent, and quick read. I sat down to read it, and didn't stop until the novel was finished.
While they sort of have a HEA, but it is also a cliff hanger.
This is the first in the series of the four Easton brothers. We are introduced to two of the others in the epilogue, and how they are trying to avoid marriage as well. I look forward to finding out how their stories unfold, and get to know their personalities. I think this will also delve deeper into Oliver's family. There were some conversations, but most were of her family.
Oliver's entire family will be reunited in the next novel, and it will be interesting to see which brother will be the next to fall for the unexpected love.
I look forward to it.
I read an advance copy of this book, but all thoughts and opinions are of my own.

Eh... I dont often give sub par reviews...but this book was not what I expected. I love historical & especially period/England 17th century books...the cover picture is misleading as well as the description.
Confusing to figure out, things from the past kept on being poorly referenced & I felt like I had missed previous books even though this is supposed to be the 1st in the series.
If you're looking for a short & sweet novella that isn't accurate with historical facts & location, you will enjoy the book. It's definitely fluff and a mindless read.
Thanks to the publisher & Netgalley for this ARC.

Expecting a Trollope novel in reverse, an Englishman travels to America to escape his past, I was surprised by the simplicity of this slim novel, “Loving Oliver,” Debra Erfert pens a fictional tale about Lord Oliver Easton arriving in Nevada with his sister’s champion horse only to collide with a young woman, Rose Newman, as she enters the general store.
If this had been a Trollope novel, most likely that would have been the end of the incident, but in Erfert’s novel, the encounter sparks a love interest.
Trying to come up with their own rules on how to be permitted to get to know one another as just friends in a nineteenth-century society that demands that a brief courtship addresses that process, Lord Oliver and Rose embark on a friendship laden with mishaps until society constraints themselves provide a satisfactory solution for their scheme.
Thank you to NetGalley and Stone Horse Press for providing me with this ARC.

I found this novel had a good storyline, but was lacking in pacing. It was very slow in the beginning and a little hard to follow.
Thank you to NetGalley for an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.

Loving Oliver
This story is shallow, light, beach-with-an-adult-beverage reading, The side topic of making scented candles is interesting. However, the characterizations are two-dimensional, and the plot and setting are implausible.

Loving Oliver is a delightful novel by Debra Erfert. Lord Oliver and Rose literally bumped into each other leading to a series of amusing and, sometimes, dangerous events. Will Oliver's and Rose's friendship remain a friendship, or will it grow into something more? Thank you Netgalley for providing a copy for my review.

Loving oliver by Debra Erfert is a beautifully written romance novel that reminds us of Pride and prejudice and Bridgerton but also stands out on its own.
I felt like the first part of the book dragged a bit, but it is justified doing so because all the built up tension in the first half made us smile, swoon and happy during the second half of the book.
Loving Oliver reminded me of how electric even small things in love can be , how good small burn novels are. The little hand touches , eye to eye , gentleman behavior and all. A perfect book for all those "God I love the English " girlies out there.
4/5 recommend.

DNF. I couldnt. Sorry. The fact that there was a 4th of July celebration with a Duke's son and Cowboys riding past the windows of respectable ladies that were shop owners and gowing out and about on their own... is just too much fantasy. It pulled me out of the story too much. Sorry.

A delightful story set in an era with customs that are not seen in the current Times. Such a reminder to be treating people with respect and to communicate clearly inspoken words, what we feel.

An English Lord meets the Wild West! Oliver is on his way out of the Mercantile when he crashes into Rose Newman as she is entering the store and she falls on her backside and breaks the porcelain sculpture she had created for her mother's birthday. When Rose reaches into the bag she cuts her finger open and has to have stitches. Oliver feels responsible for her injury and pays for the doctor and takes Rose and her friend Grace Smith out to a fancy French restaurant for lunch.
As Oliver and Rose talk, she admits she was watching Grace's former boyfriend Michael Bellamy peek at Grace through the store window and that is why she stumbled. Oliver, whose sister is related to the Bellamy's agrees with Rose that he shouldn't have done that.
Being the son of a Lord, Oliver has spoken to and been put in awkward situations by women but he sensed something different about Rose and he wanted to get to know her.
Read for yourself how a proper English Lord deals with liking a Western shopkeepers' daughter..

Lord Oliver Easton is visiting his married sister in her new home of Carson City, Nevada, when he literally runs into lovely Miss Rose Newman, daughter of the local mercantile owner. Sparks fly from the beginning of their acquaintance, but could an English aristocrat lose his heart to a Nevada beauty? Find out in this tale of romance in the Wild West.

Loving Oliver by Debra Efert is a sweet historical romance. It is a pleasant story filled with descriptions of teas and dinners and impeccable manners. What little action there was in the story moved fairly slowly for me.

Lord Oliver Easton and Miss Rose Newman are perfectly content to remain as newfound friends. However, as their friendship grows, society and their companions are putting pressure on them to start a courtship. With their friendship being questioned and suitors being forced upon Miss Newman, a fake courtship will solve both of their problems. But when does a friendship become love?
I loved Lord Easton’s character with his impeccable manners. I also enjoyed how we didn’t see every single moment that the main characters spent together, as if we were part of the people around them watching their courtship progress. I would have liked to see more personality from Miss Newman other than her getting into mishaps all the time. Overall, I liked all the little schemes they came up with and their interactions with each other.
Rating: 5/5

This was just not engaging at all, the leads were fine but there was no tension at all and the characters not bulit out as much

A fun and cute romance between two people who are incredibly kind to each other. They clearly care not just about each other but also about their loved ones, and the community they surround themselves with creates a well-rounded, fun read. I felt Rose and Oliver lacked a little bit in chemistry, but it was a cute read nonetheless.

Pleasant read! You will enjoy the journey of the hero and heroine coming to find true love. Lord Oliver is from England and accompanies his sister to America where he meets Rose, they decide a fake courtship but alas it turns out to be so much more! Clean read for any age. Enjoy!
