Four Weddings and a Puppy by Lizzie Shane is the 5th book in her Pine Hollow series. This one follows the story of Kendall, a former Olympic hopeful and Brody James, an Olympic medalist both in the area of skiing. Friends since childhood, and chasing similar dreams until life throws Kendall a curveball and she has to pivot and find a new dream. But, this is much easier said than done. Brody James achieved Kendall’s dream but is that still HIS dream? This book felt heavier to me than the others which is why I’d give it 4 /5 stars. The characters are unique enough that the story line doesn’t feel too repetitive even though the basic premise among all of them are similar. I think the underlying issue of mental health, finding your purpose, dealing with other’s expectations of you are all very important. I just wasn’t expecting the book to be so reflective (especially since the two main characters struggle with self reflection / awareness as much as they do). I also may not have enjoyed it as much because it’s more sports focused as well as the fact that my personality differs from Kendall’s. This made it harder for me to relate to but that’s okay. It’s still a solid story and for some might be 100% relatable.

There was something off here for me. It was an easy read with decent writing but the characters were all mostly annoying and didn’t garner any sympathy from me for their supposed plights.

3.5 ⭐️ I wasn’t sure what I was expecting when I picked up this book, I’ve not always been a fan of books that have the hallmark-esqe trope of having a cutesy dog story in each one but I’m glad I picked this one up! The story while yes it had a cute dog (let’s be honest who doesn’t love a dog!) in it was rightfully way more focused on the two main characters and their journey. I found that there was more meat to this book then I had expected, I like the history between them and the way the story unfolded throughout the book. I also appreciated that even when there was conflict it was also resolved at a normal pace, nothing was drawn out but also it was dealt with in a way that felt natural and normal.

I loved the setting and all the side characters, I think I will go and investigate the authors other stories from this universe!

Over all this is a good closed door romance that sweeps you up into the lives and world of the characters. Perfect for a snowy day with a cup of hot chocolate!

Thanks to NetGalley, Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and the author Lizzie Shane for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I have loved Lizzie Shane's Pine hollows series right from the very first book, The Twelve Dogs of Christmas. For this fifth installment, we are following Kendall. She was an elite level skier before a career-ending injury. Now she helps to manage her father's resort and tries to make it sufficiently profitable to pay back the medical debt from her rehabilitation.

Her childhood crush and current Olympic skier, Brody, returns to their small town. Kendall never wants him to know of her feelings and knows he won't be staying around long.

I absolutely adored Banner, the golden retriever pup who Kendall is fostering. She refers to him as a Chaos Monster, and the description is so apt. I am always impressed by how perfectly Lizzie Shane captures doggy personalities.

White this is a sweet small town romance, it also has such great depth of emotion. It incorporated many family challenges that felt to authentic and spoke to me. I love the friend circle and secondary characters. And I greatly appreciated how the book explored Kendall and Brody's dreams and life transitions. Plus their games of truth or dare were simply phenomenal and made me see the game in a whole new light.

Now I can't wait for the long teased book about Magda and Mac.

Kendall and Brody are both trying to find their sweet spots after the Olympics. Except she never made it there, thanks to a nasty crash. She's back managing her parents resort, planning weddings, and fostering a rambunctious pup. Brody won medals but he's not sure what to do next except help Kendall get things ready for his sister's wedding. This has a little more bite than you might be expecting, with mental health concerns especially, but it's also funny and sweet. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A good read.

Kendall Walsh has put herself in the position to save her family’s struggling ski resort. She has decided to go into the wedding business and also foster a wild yet cute puppy, when Olympic skier Brody James shows up and saves the day .

Brody makes Kendall feel about a million indecipherable things. He’s her brother’s bestie. Her first crush. And a ridiculously popular Olympic hero, which only reminds her of her own failed Olympic dreams. What Brody isn’t telling her is that he’s walked away from it all. Now he and Kendall are both lost somewhere between their past and a future they can’t yet see. But four weddings, one mischievous puppy, and a few steamy kisses later, these two might just realize that they are both exactly where they need to be and maybe together? This was a really cute romantic dramedy. I didn’t really feel like the puppy was that important to the story that it needed to be in the title but that’s really my only negative. 4 ⭐️ thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC for a review.

Thanks to Forever for the eARC.
I absolutely adore Shane's Pine Hollow dog books, and this is no exception. I just love the characters, romance, and puppy she creates for each book. Kendall was such a strong character that I found to be relatable when it came to relying on yourself and having complex familial relationships. I also really liked Brody. He was such a great balance to Kendall and added much needed lightness at times. I will add, the truth or dare in this book was so much fun. And Banner. Oh, Banner. This sweet pup was full of orneriness that added much appreciated humor to the story. These stories are always perfectly balanced, and I can't wait for the next one.

I liked this story. Any book with a starring pup is on its way to being a winner for me. Both main characters went through major character growth which also made this good for me. I didn't really resonate with some of Kendall's character traits; she's the anti-feelings woman, and that is not me, so hard to relate to those thoughts.

I'm coming off 3 recent steamy romances and this one has completely off page sexy times so it should have been more boring there but Brody falling hard for Kendall made up for it. He totally completely made me SWOON.

Kendall has been working at her family's ski resort for the past five years since her Olympic dreams were shattered. She has been stagnant and isn't even sure what she wants to do with her life. She is forced to face the past when her former best friend and current Olympic hopeful, Brody, shows up at the resort for a cousins wedding. Brody is needing some time away from skiing and the pressure to always "be on". He offers to help with the resort and to renovate an event space that his sister wants for her wedding. Both work together, sharing some of their deepest secrets. As they begin to trust each other they both must explore what their life will look like in the future. Add a cute, but demon-like puppy and this book is sure to please everyone!

This was a cute Hallmark type of romance with smalltown love and an in trouble ski resort. Add in Banner, the mischievous golden, and there are sure to be lots of laughs. For a cute and sweet book, some serious issues are discussed. The banter between Brody and Kendall is top-notch and I loved watching them get to know each other again.

If you are looking for a light, cute book featuring a trouble making pup, this book is for you! Thank you to NetGalley and Forever Publishing for a copy of this book. All opinions are 100% mine.

Four Weddings and a Puppy by Lizzie Shane is a heartwarming story.

This small-town romance is sweet, and the puppy is totally a scene stealer.

I always love a wedding theme. Second chance romance is my all-time favorite trope.

There is such strong emotion written into the characters. The laughter is there, but so is the romance.

A sweet romance that I really loved.

This story was so much more than I expected. I thought it would be a light romance, Hallmark style. Not true. Family issues. Mental problems. Health matters. A puppy. Many heart-warming moments. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.

I am a sucker for sports romance, but this one was so much more than that. It gave a glimpse into the mental health aspect of athletics and did it beautifaully.

Kendall wasn’t just a former Olympic hopeful. She was the predicted gold medalist until a horrific accident took it all away. Since the accident, she’s been working at her family’s ski resort, but feeling like she needs a change. She is in search of a new purpose as more than the girl who had her dreams stolen from her.

Brody was a two-time Olympian, with four medals around his neck. But when his fiercest competitor passed away, he gave it all up and walked away, having lost that competitive fire in his spirit.

The friendship between Brody & Kendall is everlasting and supportive, navigating life in a post-competitive world while dealing with all the lumps and bumps that come with it. The deeper conversations are a refreshing change for sports romances. The small town backdrop provides plenty of hijinks and comfort for readers to enjoy.

This book was such a pleasant surprise for me. In a world where sports romances are often copies of each other, just in different settings, this book manages to set itself apart as something fresh and new!

This was my first book by Shane, but definitely not my last!

This was a really sweet story. Kendall is a former Olympic hopeful turned resort manager struggling with her life feeling stagnant. Kendall has been working so hard for her father to appreciate her work and let her do more to make the family resort a success. Just as she feels she’s finding success trying to pull off the resorts first wedding, her foster dog almost ruins the day by destroying the cake. Thankfully, or maybe not so thankfully Olympian Brody catches the dog and saves the day. Brody is struggling with his career and figuring out what he wants out of life, and he decides some time at home might be just what he needs. As Brody and Kendall are thrown together working on a project they start to help each other heal and figure out what they really need in their lives. This book is perfect for those that love grumpy and sunshine, secret childhood crush stories set in picturesque small towns with a cute puppy! Another cute book from Lizzie Shane. I received an ARC, and this is my honest review.

There are a lot of tropes in this book; grumpy/sunshine, best friend’s little sister, second chance if you squint.

Kendall is a wedding planner after her skiing days were put behind her from an accident. Brody, her old crush is taking a break from his skiing career and wants to help Kendall get her family’s skiing lodge ready for his sister’s wedding. She fights his help and her feelings for him, but somethings can’t be stopped.

I enjoined this book. It was fun. Both Kendall and Brody were fully developed characters. I loved them falling in love and facing their struggles together.

I fully recommend this book.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

Kendall looks over just as she sees the puppy she’s fostering almost plow into an elaborate five-tiered wedding cake. With the blink of an eye the puppy is caught and the cake is saved. Kendall is shocked to learn that none other than her childhood friend Brody, saved the day. Back home and taking a break from training for the Olympics, Brody is excited to see Kendall again. He makes her feel all kinds of things, but he’s her brothers best friend and he reminds her she failed at her Olympic dreams. While both Kendall and Brody are trying to figure out their lives, they start to wonder if they’re exactly where they are meant to be – with each other.

This was a sweet, hallmark type romance that featured skiing. I did however, begin to struggle with this one about the 30% mark and continued to struggle with paying attention. I just lost interest in the story and what was going on, because not much was happening. I loved Brody as a character, but didn’t really care for Kendall. Brody was working hard to find out what to do with his life and really working on growing. Now Banner on the other hand stole the show. What cute, rambunctious puppy wouldn’t. He was simple the best character of the book and I loved him so much.

If you are looking for a light and fluffy book featuring an amazingly cute puppy, then I recommend you check this one out.

Thank you so much to the publisher, Grand Central Publishing, and Netgalley for this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
