My Favorite Animal was a good book with some adorable illustrations and I look forward to more from this author in the future. My nephew loved this book so I would recommend this to toddlers and preschoolers.

This book goes through different feelings and emotions and how they are like animals. There are different fonts used throughout, which are engaging too. I liked the similes and metaphors that are used.

Not too bad a book, this shows us a girl and her many, many moods and behaviours, all without really proving its purpose in doing so – or not in anything like a way that suggests this is essential. Ariadna, the girl here, is bullish when doing this, as meek as a mouse when faced with that, waddling like a penguin here, tortoise-slow there – you get the gist. We look at the key scenes of her day, always with the text in a quarter of a double-paged spread, appropriately coloured and forever on the left of the page. The rest is the image, in the creator's busy style. When asked what the favourite animal of Ariadna I was hoping for a kind of trick question and that the parents were the answer, but no – there is an alternative, which I did quickly latch on to. So yes, a look at how we all switch our behaviours, using animal metaphors, and a look at a girl who is surrounded by critters, real or imaginary, but to a great end? Not really – three and a half stars.

This would be a wonderful read a loud in a classroom or for an at home library. The illustrations are wonderful and after reading it, students could discuss or write about which animal they would be!

A simply adorable that show everyone is an animal in all their different moods, just like Arianda. Make sure you look closely at all the illustrations, not just for how beautiful they are, but to guess Arianda’s favorite animal most of all.

Who is Adriana’s favorite animal? Observant children may figure this out but even if they don’t, they will enjoy watching the main character imagine interacting with a variety of animals. This book will spark a kid’s imagination with its fun illustrations and text.

Recommended for toddlers and preschoolers. It is a cute read.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Chouette Publishing for this title. All opinions are my own.

This cute little book follows Adrianna about her day. Each of her actions and mannerisms as she undertakes her various activities can be related to an animal of some sort, whether this be growling like a lion when it's time to get dressed, swimming like a shark at her lesson, or bathing like an elephant. Taken one at a time, the images were boring, mostly owing to their bland color palette using similar colors, however, when you look at them as a whole they are quite the array of colors. I think the lack of vibrancy allows more focus on the words. Overall, it's a sweet little book to read to toddlers who will no doubt enjoy the tale.

Let your imagination run away with you!
Follow Ariadna for a day and see how many animals she can be like!
The illustrations by the author are fun, busy, simple, brilliant, and delightful.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to anyone, but especially to a school or your local public library!

Ariadna LOVES animals, and during her busy, busy day, she acts like a lot of different creatures. And, if you pay close attention to the illustrations, you will catch a glimpse of her most FAVORITE animal.

I ADORED the author's illustrations. Each page/animal features a different color palette, and the art appears to be soft watercolors. It's a lovely effect, and very charming.

I enjoyed looking for the special critters hidden on each page, so I suspect kids will love that as well.

I genuinely think this is one of my favorite picture books I've read in a while! I loved the note at the beginning about trying to figure out Ariadna's favorite animal and how there were two cats hidden in each spread. It was a great way to keep the child engaged in the story, and it makes them an active participant. I definitely recommend!

This is a clever animal story that children will enjoy reading, marvel at the illustrations, and spend time truly trying to guess her favorite animal. I can imagine may children will banter about which animal should have been her favorite, so I can definitely see this being a fun read for classrooms or children's story time.

This is a story of Penelope and her cat Ariadna. She felt her cat can walk like penguin, swim like fish and eat like bear, and such many more. Overall, she found every animal from kingdom in the character and gesture of her cat.
Nice perspective of a child who loves pet, this book shows cleverly the child psychology.

There is so much attention to detail in this book and I love it. Each page has a focus color, activity, and animal. They go so well together. You can tell some effort was put into planning these out. It is so well done, the story is cute and I loved the art. My kids would have loved this book.

As a mom of a wild little ones this book absolutely spoke to me. Not only that but my little wild boy loved it. In this story we follow along as Ariadna goes about her day. She loves animals so much that she tries to be one all day long. Follow along and you will discover what her favorite animal is. I adore how the author created the world in which the little one interacts through her day as different animals. They are such perfect Descriptions you will truly see the moment in your own imaginations. To match that are brillent illustrations they perfectly show her little world and how amazing her little imagination is. I know my little one did. He even talked about how the animals reminded him of how he felt during his day. My favorites were when she was a Bull rummaging through things, a bird flying on the swing and the elephant who splashes in the tub. YOu are going to love the interaction in this story. We received this as an ARC but we will be buying this for our little library at home and can’t wait to share with our friends. This would be a great story for an early childhood classroom as well. Enjoy this little adventure.

With lots of animals and big bold colors this book is sure to be a hit with children. The added goal to try and figure out which one is her favorite adds something magical to it as well. This was so fun!
