just enough for an adventure

Myla and Lincoln are back. This is not like the others. This time we have Grim and the Mrs. making more trouble for our duo. As they fight for us and against time, they provide an action packed story leading to a wedding with more of lots of things. CB makes the world of Myla and Lincoln come to life again with more details, more characters, more action, more adventure, and dare I say, surprises.

I try to lead with this statement. I am biased in my views and opinions. I love the world of Angelbound. I love each and every story created. I love the depth of details given about the world, its content, its characters. I love Myla and Lincoln.

This time around there was just enough of a story for an adventure and to keep your favorite couple in the limelight. There was no need to drag this one out. I was like a chance to visit M&L for a short stay just to catch up on things.

Book #11 in the Angelbound Origins series but, holy smokes, this one is good! Christina Bauer is a prolific writer of excellent books. She has populated many series with a variety of characetrs that the readers become seriously attached to. Each new book is greated as a long lost friend......to be read as soon as possible. REAPER GAMES finds Myla (IYKYK) in a race to save her friend's life from the Lady Reaper. The quality of the writing is still fabulous and the action will keep you turning pages quickly. If you love fantasy with some paranormal and some great characters, Christina Bauer should be on your TBR list.

Reaper Games (Book 1, The Angelbound Abyss Saga) - Christina Bauer

I was given a copy of this story through Net Galley in order to provide an honest review.

Christina Bauer is an American author who writes many fantasy stories. Besides the “Angelbound Offspring” series she has also written the “Pixieland Diaries” and the “Beholder” series plus many more.

Once again, we are in the world of Myla and Lincoln and another plot is afoot to destroy their homes and loved ones. But specifically, Myla’s best friend Cissy – her life is in danger.

Myla and Cissy went to a ghoul carnival, years before she knew of Lincoln – yet the events of that day remain hidden from her and locked away. Someone had put a magical barrier on her memories – someone who doesn’t want her remembering something she was told that day –something that could help her remember that Cissy’s life is in danger and exactly what evil plan Lady Reaper had concocted.

But now, Cissy is going to get married to Zeke – finally!! But under the advisement of Lady reaper, this would be celebrated at a ghoul carnival. Myla didn’t like this, not one bit, and she didn’t like Lady Reaper – though she couldn’t put her finger on why.

Yet when Myla said Lady Reaper was up to no good and couldn’t be trusted but no one believed her. So, Myla sets out to get the proof she needs and if she's lucky – save Cissy and break the magical block on her memory – but more importantly save Cissy.

“Reaper Games” is a YA paranormal fantasy story about an awesome quasi-demon that kicks butt and takes names. Myla is honestly one of those characters that I never get tired of reading about. I love the attitude the author gives her and how she's willing to always stand up for her loved ones and what's right – no matter what. This story is an excellent read that is fast paced, filled with interesting twists and turns. It was good to learn more about Walker and his back story – though I feel with the second instalment in this series we’ll have even more to learn

I’ve received an e-arc from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts, feelings and opinions are my own.

What I love about these books is that it’s such an interesting idea of what the afterlife looks like and the systems in place that would need to work together to make everything run correctly, that also has a fantasy feel. This book in the series is no different and has Mya and Lincoln working to save Cissy and Zeke’s wedding and the rest of the world from the Reapers and Ghouls who want to take control from them.
These books never get old, I love the different relationships between the characters, and while it sometimes gets annoying at how often the citizens of purgatory forget about all the good Mya and Lincoln do for them by consistently rooting for the bad guy, it is pretty consistent with real life so I’ll give it a pass.
Overall this is a really good, long series that lets you follow characters you love in to different aspects of their life and the challenges of ruling Purgatory. I love reading along their journey and can’t wait to reach Maxon’s adventures!

I always enjoy reading a Christina Bauer book and have been reading the Angelbound Origins series since the beginning. I’ve enjoyed how the stories have flowed together and have everything that I enjoy about the writing. It worked well overall and am glad that this series had continued.

How does this author continue to surprise me? I read this one out of order and still wasn't disappointed! How do you do this, woman?

Gimme more!
I love these characters and will never get enough.

In this book husband and wife Kyle and Lincoln have to up against another duo Grim Reaper and his wife Regina Reaper. My la must keep Regina from stealing her best friend Cissy's soul at her own wedding. Meanwhile Lincoln must work to keep Grim from stealing all the souls in the after realm... But is Walker helping or hindering in this endeavor?

This is my favorite cover out of the entire “Angelbound” series. According to the story it represents Castle Xanadu (cue Olivia Newton-John please). I’m trying not to give anything away, BUT Myla says that this place is her dream honeymoon place?! Ummm…pod person? (chuckle) I’m thinking of a well-laid trap which will appear in a future book. Doesn’t matter on that point other than I freaking love this cover.

There was an issue with the copy of Reaper Games that I received which kept me from fully immersing myself in the story and maybe that’s why I’m just not feeling this book as much as I usually would. Plus, I am not a huge fan of revisionist history and (spoiler alert!) there are spells going on which have changed the backstory for Cissy and Myla.

I love the idea of Lady Reaper and her costumes are so bad ass. I just love them. I think she would make a great villain against Myla. I am disappointed with how this thread of the story ended up as the build up was great. Two strong and intelligent women going to battle and each thinking themselves right. Epic battle. Yeah…no. I don’t want to spoil anything, but it doesn’t happen.

It seems that not only Cissy and Zeke are in fog, but Myla too. She just seemed off in this book. I am a huge fan of Myla and she was way behind on her game. Since this is book two in the “Angelbound Abyss” series, then I will assume it is because of something grander.

Overall, Reaper Games has lots of action, intrigue, and some steam. I love Myla’s tail and they have lots of input too. (chuckle) I’ll be back for book three.

I'm delighted to be able to read the next in the Angelbound series, Reaper Games by Christina Bauer.

Myla and Lincoln have returned to Purgatory, only to be presented with the news that their best friends Cissy and Zeke will be married in a month. Myla can't shake the feeling that something is wrong, even more so when she learns of Lady Reaper's involvement.

On the surface everything seems pleasant enough, but Myla can't shake the feeling that Lady Reaper is not to be trusted. Unfortunately Cissy is under the impression that Lady Reaper is her new best friend, and therefore has no qualms with Lady Reaper taking over the planning of Cissy's wedding to Zeke.

Myla and Lincoln both have serious concerns with this development and set out to investigate further.

Lady Reaper has uncovered a prophecy whereby she can become the Hallowed One, doing Myla out of a job as the Great Scala. Only for this to happen, Cissy must die.

There are plots within plots at the pace of the book is perfect, keeping you turning the pages to find out more without feeling as though you are being rushed through the pages.

As a fan of Christina's previous books, I can't recommend this highly enough.

Short fun read that is the eleventh book in the series. Cissty and Zeke are finally getting married but there are plans by Lady Reaper to use the wedding for her own reasons. With rich well developed characters, great story plot and plot twists galore, this is a wonderful addition to the series. Thanks #Netgalley and #Monsterhousebooks for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.

Cissy is about to get married, finally! Zeke has been asking for her hand regularly and Cissy has decided it is time. Unfortunately, Lady Reaper is planning to use Ciccy’s wedding to steal her soul and take control of every ghost. Myla uncovers the plan and won’t let anyone take her bestie’s soul or ruin her wedding. Lincoln discovers that Regina Reaper’s husband, Grim, is also working to enslave souls. He enlists the help of his best friend, Walker, but Lincoln can’t tell who is helping whom.

Reaper Games is the eleventh book in the Angelbound Origins series. I love this series and all of the companion series, but I will have to say the stories about Myla and Lincoln are my favorite. Bauer does NOT spend a lot of time in this book recapping previous events and that made this short book that much better because it was all new. The action is intense and the storyline is seamless as long as you pay attention to who each chapter is about. The introduction tells us there are more books to come … and I can’t wait.
