THE HAUNTING is a fast paced thriller told from the point of view of the murderers son’s ex girlfriend. As Penny, the ex girl friend struggles with her feelings toward Nash, the son, another murder takes place. Is there a copycat murderer on the loose? This book has lots of twists and turns that keep you guessing. It was an OK read. An advance reader copy was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

The Haunting was one of favorite books by Natasha Preston. She knocked it out of the park. It kept me on the edge of my seat. Fast pace thriller that you will not see the ending coming. Great read for the Halloween season.
Thank you Netgalley for this Advance readers copy.

I just finished reading "The Haunting" by Natasha Preston, and oh my gosh, it was so freaking creepy! I mean, I love a good horror story, but this one had me sleeping with the lights on.
The main character, Penny, is so relatable. She's trying to figure out what's going on in her town, and I was right there with her, trying to piece together the clues. The supporting characters are also super well-developed. I loved how the author showed how everyone was dealing with their own stuff while also trying to survive this supernatural threat.
The pacing was perfect. It wasn't too fast or too slow. It was like a rollercoaster ride - slow build-up, and then BAM! Something crazy would happen, and I'd be like, "Whoa, did not see that coming!"
The setting was also super eerie. I mean, a small town with a dark history? Sign me up! The author did an amazing job of creating this creepy atmosphere that had me on edge the whole time.
Now, I know some people might say that some parts were predictable, but honestly, I didn't care. The journey was so much fun that I didn't mind if I saw some things coming. Plus, there were still some surprises that caught me off guard.
I would totally recommend "The Haunting" to anyone who loves horror. It's a great read for Halloween or any time you want to get spooked. Just, you know, maybe don't read it alone in the dark. Unless you're like me and enjoy being scared senseless! 😂

I really enjoyed a lot of aspects of this novel, however I’m just not a big fan of this authors ending. Overall a really fun read, and I will definitely checking out more by Natasha Preston !

The Haunting by Natasha Preston was a rollercoaster of suspense that captivated me. This psychological thriller weaves a chilling tale that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat and reluctant to put the book down. While it was a bit slow at first it was still good.

The beginning was strong but personally I felt that the middle portion dragged out a little bit. Nonetheless it was a very enjoyable and readable story that can be finished in one sitting.

Another great thriller from Natasha Preston that left me glued to the edge of my seat and guessing until the very end. I absolutely love the attention to detail and the thrilling way that everything ties together so wonderfully but still manages to leave you in suspense at the ending.

Heart pounding thriller that left me on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. Definitely one of the best books this year.

The Haunting is another fantastic YA thriller from Natasha Preston. This book will fly off the shelf! In true Preston fashion the ending leaves us wondering what happens next, but that is part of Preston's appeal. You can decide if the killer is caught or got whats coming to them. Highly recommended

This book was so much fun and crazy. I love the guessing game of who the killer is. The twists made me want to throw the book, but I loved it. Thanks for letting me read it.

Thank you NetGalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.
4/5 a horrible murder spree a year ago landing Nash’s dad in jail, causing a rift between penny and Nash. Howerever on the anniversary of the gruesome murders another body is found. You’re left wondering is there a copycat killer out there or was Nash’s father never really guilty? This book definitely left me guessing.

I've never read a novel by Natasha Preston but many of my female teen readers rave about her books, so I picked her newest one to read.
Exactly a year ago, Penny's small town was rocked by a series of gruesome murders of her classmates. Her boyfriend's father was arrested and now her boyfriend, Nash, is ostracized. Now someone is duplicating the murders from a year ago. Penny, along with her three closest friends and Nash, look for answers.
This book has series Scream vibes, including a masked killer. It was entertaining.
I didn't like the dialogue between the characters. It felt unnatural for teenagers.

I'm in the process of trying to beef up our Young Adult mystery. I've found myself in a rut of recommending the same authors over and over again so I was thrilled when I was approved for "The Haunting." This was my first experience with Natasha Preston's writing, but I can say without reservation that we will be purchasing her back catalog and it will be wildly popular with our teens. As an adult reader, this one was a 3-star read for me, but it has the right pacing, the right tone, and an ending that my teens will DEVOUR.
Penny was living a teenage dream, on the fast track to Julliard, a friend group that had been close since kindergarten, and a handsome, loving boyfriend. That dream turned into a nightmare a year ago when her town became the hunting ground of a serial killer. Her boyfriend, Nash's, father was arrested in the early morning hours of Halloween. Now after a year apart, Penny can't keep herself from reaching back out to Nash as the first anniversary of the brutal killings draws closer.
Just as their friendship begins to rekindle, the unthinkable occurs, another dead teenager, this time found by Penny as she browsed with her friends for Halloween costumes. The town seems desperate to pin the murders on Nash and his sister, Grace, so sure that no other evil could lurk among them, and refusing to believe that this could be the work of a copycat. As the nights become longer and the shadows begin to lengthen, Penny can't help but imagine that she's seeing a killer lurking in every shadow. Will she be able to convince the police that a copycat killer is stalking the town before she becomes the next target?
The perfect YA thriller, "The Haunting" will be a sure winner for fans of Karen McManus and April Henry. Special thanks to NetGalley and Delacorte Press for providing an Advanced Reader's Copy in exchange for an unbiased review!

I love Natasha Preston books so much and this one definitely did not disappoint!
A great story with excellent twists. Can't wait to read her next book!

I've enjoyed reading other books by this author. It's an intriguing story with interesting characters. It's hard to put down once you start reading it. The story has a lot of twists and turns. I enjoyed reading this haunting story.

Natasha Preston does it again! I was hooked super quickly and couldn't put it down. I loved it and can't wait for the next one!

Another great Natasha Preston book. I didn't finish this on Netgalley, but finished it after my library purchased it. I liked one better than her last one, the Island. I enjoyed the story's setting and characters. Love how Preston can always introduce a bad boy with a good heart into her stories.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a readers copy of this title. My reviews do not contain spoilers and are freely given.
The title is misleading. I expected a ghost story, but this was not. It’s the story of a serial murderer, who goes to jail, and now murders have started again in a small town around Halloween. Nothing to do with ghosts or a haunting.
The main character is a teen, but the danger she repeatedly places herself in makes her seem extremely naive. The ending is abrupt and leaves a lot of room for reader speculation. The story had promise, but fell a bit flat for my taste.

I could not get into this story. Our protagonist (who is headed to an elite university after graduation, of course) has absolutely no common sense and puts herself in ridiculously dangerous situations. I understand that is the slasher/final girl way, but she would get away by luck, not cunningness. It was hard to root for her. As the novel progresses and she continues to search for a killer with subpar plans, the plot becomes slapstick and ridiculous. Then, there is the ending!! It was awful, and it made me extremely mad. I slogged through this novel for that.
On an editing note, if Preston's team is able to, they need to remove the periods in the text message. I have learned that Gen Z does not use periods when texting friends because it seems rude.

What the heck did I just read! I found this book on NetGalley and decided to read it based on the premise. this book was written so well. I felt many times the fear Penny felt during her harrowing adventures. I cannot imagine dealing with a serial killer in high school. The story worked so well because of the fact that teenagers believe they are invincible. So of course, Penny, would do whatever to see Nash. What I did not expect was who the killer turned out to be and the end. WTH?!?!
