Out of all the myths this book addressed, I was delighted to see the first two chapters were "I Gotta Go to College" and "I Need a College Degree to be Successful" and I just want to big clap for Shutler for addressing how our society fails our students by pushing this on them when they are not ready. Try suggesting alternative credit (like Saylor Academy - $5 for 3 lower level college credits) instead of an AP course and the College Board would have your head.

My only complaint is that, as an adult, I got a little overwhelmed by how some of the information was presented. I can't imagine having a high schooler read this, and they are who really need this information.

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC.

This is a helpful book for students and their families who are looking to navigate the college application process and avoid student loan debt. The book offers twelve faulty assumptions about obtaining a higher education, and then provides strategies to escape that debt. It also sheds light on scholarships and other significant funding sources that are available for students, and explores the federal laws that govern student debt.

Overall, it's a comprehensive and informative book that can help students make informed decisions about their education, avoid drowning in debt, and escape the inevitable student loan bubble that's been happening.
