Short and sweet, this was a pleasant little novella. The writing was snappy, and the dialogue realistic. I liked the characters and the overall premise. However, I did often feel distanced from the narrative, and never fully immersed myself. It was fun, but nothing to write home about. But while I think I would have liked it to be darker and more twisted, I think as-is, it's an easy sell to someone in the market for something quick, light, and humorous.

My Thoughts:
My husband loves to read zombie books. He has a huge collection of them on our Kindle. Sometimes, I'll get in the mood to read one, so I'll randomly pick one from his collection and read it. Recently, I stumbled across Love & Zombies, and thought it would be a great in-between book while I wait to start my next book because it's so short. Unfortunately, I didn't like it very much.

I don't exactly know how to describe what I didn't like about the book. I just didn't care for the author's writing style. It kept taking me out of the storyline, so I couldn't fully immerse myself in what I was reading. I also didn't care for how the main character would go on mini tangents about random things that had nothing to do with the main plot. It was useless information that bored me, and added nothing to the story. I did like the dark, twisted sense of humor. It had me chuckling several times. The book did get more interesting once Becca entered the picture, but at that point, it wasn't enough to make me love the book. I think if she was introduced earlier in the story, I might have liked it better.

Even though I didn't care much for Love & Zombies, there were one or two things that I really did like. I think that even though it wasn't my cup of tea, if you like gritty, more disturbing zombie stories, you should give it a try. It's less than 100 pages, so if you don't like it, it's not a big waste of time. My husband read it and thought it was okay, so it might be a personal preference thing. As it is, I didn't like the author's writing style at all, so I don't think I will read any of his other books.

I give Love & Zombies: 2.5/5.
