Prepare to be captivated by a scintillating tale of domestic intrigue, delving deep into the intricate bonds and fractures between mothers and daughters. "Good Bad Girl" by Alice Feeney delivers a mesmerizing narrative that keeps you on your toes throughout. Just as you think you've unraveled its secrets, the story takes an unexpected turn, leaving you pleasantly surprised by its intricate twists and turns.
Feeney masterfully crafts the plot from four distinct viewpoints, weaving them together in a complex tapestry that gradually unveils the characters' sorrows and traumas. The culmination of these perspectives leads to a stunning and unforeseen conclusion, leaving you awestruck by Feeney's storytelling prowess.
Having embarked on this literary journey with "Good Bad Girl," I find myself eagerly anticipating more from this talented author. Alice Feeney's skill in creating an intricate and gripping narrative is commendable. Mark your calendars for August 29, when this enthralling masterpiece will be released. A heartfelt appreciation to Flatiron Books for providing an advance copy, allowing me to delve into this captivating world of complex emotions and suspenseful storytelling.

For anyone who starts this book and is put off by the POVs- KEEP GOING, I promise it works itself out and things start to clear up :-)
I will start by saying that I'm from the US, so I LOVED the narration and accents. They were calm and soothing and I would love to be lulled to sleep every night being read to by them- I'll admit that the night I should've finished this, I actually did fall asleep (BUT NOT FOR LACK OF INTEREST OR STORYLINE!!), They are JUST. THAT. GOOD!
POV switches were a bit difficult initially, but once each character divulged details about themselves and their motive, it was MUCH easier to keep track of who's who.
There were a lot of details and reveals I did not see coming and I thoroughly enjoyed following each character and unearthing their layers and how they all connected. I wouldn't call this an edge-of-your-seat thriller, I saw it definitely more towards general fiction/mystery with some sprinkles of family drama/relationships thrown in.
WARNINGS/potential spoilers for TWs:
This does contain themes and elements that some may find disturbing or triggering, such as infant/child loss, post-partum depression, elderly mistreatment and brief mentions of abortion.

I loved this audiobook! The narrator’s accents were great and really made me want to keep listening. While there was 4 POV, I had no issues keep track of who was speaking and what was going on.
The mystery kept me on my toes and had me hooked the entire time. At one of the twists, my jaw was left hanging wide open because I never saw it coming. I really love the family tension and the difference relationships throughout the book. While I have read almost all of Feeney’s books, I can say that her title is absolutely true, she is The Queen of Twists! As soon as you are able to get a copy of this book, do it!
Rating this 4.5 stars but rounding up to 5 stars on Goodreads.
***** Many thanks to Macmillan Audio, Alice Feeney, and NetGalley for the ALC as it was provided to me in turn for my honest opinion.

Mother's Day will never be the same.

I found this Domestic Thriller to be a slow start, I found the back and fourth with characters a little hard to follow. It toke a bit for the whole plot to work its way to tie it all together and at times was predictable.
.
The story goes around the ins and outs of motherhood. Loss of children, dealing with the disconnection between mothers and daughters. Also the sadness of how the elderly are mistreated in care facilities. Overall the story was good but I struggled with having it be a page turner.

Thank you to Netgalley and Macmillan audio for an ALC in exchange for an honest review. Good Bad Girl is due out on August 29, 2023

Another excellent novel by Alice Feeney. She finds a way to make even the most beloved characters do cruel things, and this book hightlights her ability to make women more complex, more "good bad girls". This might be one of my favorites of Feeney's, as I loved the many layers, the mystery surrounding the characters and how they could all be connected, and the overall atmosphere of the novel. It was a really enjoyable read!

Alice Feeney's work is so diverse that she is able to write novels that never let the reader down. Good Bad Girl, though very different from her last novel, Daisy Darker, is equally entralling and mysterious. Focused on the interwining lives of numerous women, the mystery unfolds in a family drama/mystery that would rival Lisa Jewell's work. Feeney tackles deep themes like motherhood and broken mother-daughter relationships, in a way that causes thought and retrospection if one is a mother. The audiobook was beautifully read!

Sometimes good people do bad things… Alice Feeney has done it again! In true Feeney fashion, I did not see this twist coming! I truly tried to play the investigator role in this story with two murders three suspects and one victim (one of them deserved it). BOY WAS I WRONG! Every time I thought I figured out the ending, I was hit with another twist! I am so impressed with how these complicated mother daughter relationships are written. I saw so much of myself and my own mother woven into these complex women. I didn’t love the cadence of the audiobook narrator at first, but after meeting each of the characters, I feel the vocal choices were perfect! Highly recommend to anyone who loves Alice Feeney’s work or to anyone who enjoys some excellent drama!
Thank you to NetGalley for early access to the audiobook in exchange for my honest review!

So I kind of liked this one, but I think I just wasn’t in the right mood for it tbh. It was decent and there was a good twist, but it wasn’t as exciting as I expected it to be considering it was written by Alice Feeney. Again, it wasn’t bad, but I found it to be a pretty average thriller.
A big thanks to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for the ALC in exchange for

GOOD BAD GIRL by Alice Feeney is a brilliant psychological suspense novel that had me devouring it all in one day! Four women, three suspects, two murders, and one victim is the basis for a twisty-turvy plot that weaves the lives of four seemingly unconnected women together. Ms. Feeney has penned a riveting tale that stayed with me long after I finished the last page.
I was provided with an advance audiobook, thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio. Narrators Katherine Press and Stephanie Racine did an admirable job in making the characters come to life. They effectively captured the nuances of the age differences between the women and I could easily follow which characters were speaking.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
A 6-month old baby abducted from a supermarket, and elderly woman missing from a nursing home, and a murdered care home manager and the police gave three suspects: a woman seen lurking around the nursing home, the estranged daughter of the missing elderly woman, and a disgruntled employee of the nursing home.
Alice Feeney takes you on a journey where the past and the present collide and there are many secrets that have been kept for years. It kept me entertained the entire time!

Thank you for allowing me to read this book as an ARC, actually in audio format.
Alice Feeney did not disappoint yet again. While I have always loved her books, I feel like she has gotten even better in working all these twists and turns into her stories. I was at first a little confused about all the different characters and who is who, however, it eventually became clear and added to the plot. The plot kept thickening towards the end and I was totally enjoying every part of the storyline.
I especially also liked the narrator of the book. The accent and the special talent of the narrator on making the story sound like it's happening right then and there were perfect.
Great job again on a great book. 5 🌟 for me.

I enjoy Alice Feeney's style of writing and Good Bad Girl further solidified this. There were twists and turns that came unexpectedly in this novel. Understanding the family dynamic between Edith, Cleo, Patience, and Frankie made things a little muddled at times. And the opening of Frankie's intention to leave work and never return was never fully explained. But with those aside, I enjoyed the female protagonists in this story.

I have never read an Alice Feeney novel before but I wanted to dive in because I have been in a thriller mood lately. It opens with a baby being snatched from its pram at a supermarket. Then we move on about 18 years and are introduced to a few intertwining characters, mainly women: Clio, a high strung psychologist, her mom Edith (who is in a care home), Patience (a teen runaway who works in the care home), Frankie (Patience’s mother) and Jude the art gallery owner. 9the only real male character) Of course there is a mystery – the head of the elder care home has been murdered, as well as Edith’s friend a month before in the home (and over time other residents in the care home have as well, and seemingly not from old age).
There are a lot of mother daughter issues in this novel – both Clio and Patience can’t forgive their respective mothers for terrible things that their mothers did years ago. I don’t want to get too deep into the relationships because the whole point of the book is figuring out the relationships and the murder and that’s the fun of it.
I think the point of this novel (besides the whole murder mystery) is what constitutes a bad person and what makes a bad mother?
This being my first Alice Feeney (and not my last) I really enjoyed it, it was not super fast paced (i.e. it was more of a slow burn) but I got through the audio in less than two days (I had a bit of grocery shopping and walking to do but also I wanted to know what was going to happen). The narrator was great and made the book more enjoyable. While some aspects of the story were predictable, I didn’t see all of it coming so I was happy that I couldn’t figure it all out (much of it, but not all). I have a feeling based on reviews that her other novels may be better but it was a great toe dip into Feeney for me.
This was a 3.75 star which I will round up to 4
Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the opportunity to review.

Good Bad Girl is a quick listen and I found that I wanted to find out what would happen next. I was a little confused at the beginning trying to keep all of the characters straight and who was who and what part they were playing. Once I got everyone straight I pretty much figured out the rest of the story. There was one twist at the end that I didn't figure out.
Overall, I enjoyed Good Bad Girl and I would recommend it for fans of Alice Feeney.

The legit QUEEN of twists is at it again! GOOD BAD GIRL is a bit of change from her pulse-pounding thrillers but I still enjoyed every page of this one (although I did listen to it on audio!)
Alice Feeney is an auto-buy author for me and I highly recommend this one to fans of dark family secrets and "bad people" being good (or is it bad people being good?)

Good Bad Girl was a very interesting thriller! I didn’t particularly love any of characters which I think is why it took me a little while to get into the book. It was fairly fast paced, especially since there were three different narrators. I listened to the audiobook of this and I enjoyed hearing the different voices for each character. The twists are good. Just when I thought I knew what was going on, another twist came in. I didn’t predict the ending so this thriller was a win in my book! I would definitely pick it up if you like this author’s other thrillers!
Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC and review it honestly!

I’ve never read Alice Feeney before, but I’ve heard positive reviews. When I came across Good Girl Bad on NetGalley, I couldn’t resist requesting, particularly as it was in audiobook format. Thank you, netgalley and Macmillan audio for my ALC.
The story started out slow for me, particularly as we are introduced to the characters without much context. I didn’t initially care for that, but the further in the book I got the more sense this made. It was an unraveling of sorts, one were you are constantly trying to piece together what is really happening and figure out how it all connects.
The more I listened the more I engaged with the characters and how they were all linked. I found this to be a clever mystery with several twists I wasn’t expecting. Bonus for an ending that accounted for the complex dynamics in play.
The two narrators, Katherine Press and Stephanie Racine did an excellent job bringing the main characters and their stories to life. If audiobooks are your jam, I would recommend trying Good Girl Bad.

I'm not sure where to start with Good Bad Girl by Alice Feeney. This is a very cleverly written novel! I have so many good things to say about it. At the very beginning it was a little hard to distinguish who was who and what role they played but as the story progressed it became much clearer and very intriguing!
There are four main characters and a bit of a complex plot. The book starts as a bit of a slow burn as everything gets established but it easily held my interest and I looked forward to listening to it, It's a hard review without giving too much away from the story but it is a well written drama/thriller type of book that explores the good and bad sides of motherhood, murder, deceit, trauma and depression.
The book was cleverly written, with a well developed plot and characters. was lucky enough to be able to listen to the audiobook. I thought the narrators did a great job. It was a solid 4 star read for me that I would definitely recommend!
Thank you @macmillanaudio & @netgalley for the audiobook ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I received a copy of this audiobook in exchange for a honest review. This was a great read, kept me on my toes and I loved the style of writing for this book. The audiobook was great presented with the narrator being great. The story was a good one with a lot of twists that the reader wouldn't predict.

🐞Good Bad Girl by Alice Feeney 🐞
★★★★★ 5/5 stars!
Three suspects. Two murders. One victim.
"Sometimes bad things happen to good people, so good people have to do bad things."
🐞 Synopsis
20 years ago, on Mother’s Day, a baby is stolen from her stroller in broad daylight. Now, a woman is found murdered in an elevator at a care home. The lives of 4 women intersect because these two unsolved crimes are somehow linked. They all have secrets, & there is more than one side to every story..
🐞 My Thoughts
I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again - Alice Feeney can do no wrong. Her poetic writing style makes me hang on every word, with beautiful turns of phrase that really resonate & stay with you. (I’m already planning to reread & annotate my copy!) I would say this one is more mystery than thriller, & I could not get enough!
The storyline is wonderfully complex without being confusing. It is filled with cleverly planted red herrings & unpredictable twists. The characters were so well developed & relatable, each with their own distinct personality, quirks, & shades of good & bad. I appreciated how she explored the often complicated dynamic of mother/daughter relationships.
I was so satisfied with how this seemingly tangled web unravels & ties into a perfect little bow of an ending. This is definitely a new favorite.
Katherine Press & Stephanie Racine did a stellar job of narrating the audiobook. These two were able bring all 4 of the good bad girls to life, making it so easy & fun to follow along.
