In Never Too Late, Danielle Steel not only proves she is the Queen of glamour romance but also shows she is versatile enough to write action suspense.. Never Too Late has a lot of emotional elements and is a beautiful love letter to New York City - its strength, glamour and .vulnerabilities. Steel's likeable characters are a testament to the ability of New Yorkers to overcome tragedy and build community together through giving, living and loving. This book should become a movie or a mini-series as it also has an important underlying theme: Senior women are leaders and desirable lovers.

The book's main character Kezia is no granny with a blanket on a rocking chair. Kezia, is a former nurse practitioner and a 62-year old widow, who has been running her late husband Andrew's company for five years. She negotiates a successful sale of the San Francisco company and then moves across the country to a glamourous New York penthouse, with an equally glamours neighbor Sam, a world renown movie star. When tragedy strikes, she volunteers to assist first responders along with Sam and spends all night as a triage nurse. Returning home in the wee hours of the morning together, Kezia and Sam begin to develop a friendship with potential for more.

We also see Kezia later in the story taking power walks throughout the city, mentoring her two grown daughters, Felicity and Kate, through careers and choices. Kezia gently steers them and a new friend to make life altering decisions. The tragedy in the book is a lightening rod wake up for everyone to change their lives for the better. Kezia decides that she isn't a lady of leisure and decides to take a refresher course in nursing and work part time to give back to the community.

In true to form Danielle Steel style we also are taken to a resort in the South of France, an African hospital and the luxurious Hamptons. There is a lot packed into this novel and I would like to see a sequel in the form of a spin-off from the point of view of the task force team that investigates the tragedy and Kezia's adventures as a nurse and lover to Sam. Kezia is a role model to her younger friends as she embraces New York and all its splendors, takes care of her family, challenges herself professionally and finds love after tragedy and loss. Never Too Late is a joyful book that I may not have had a chance to read if I didn't receive an ARC from NetGalley and Random House/Ballantine. This book has encouraged me to read more of Danielle's books and to recommend them to others as Never Too Late is an extremely hopeful book with important messages throughout.

Trigger Warnings: 9/11, terrorist, bombing, death

Our main character, Kezia decides to move from our home she shared with her late husband in San Francisco to New York to be closer to her two daughters. Just as she is enjoying her penthouse view watching the Fourth of July festivities, disaster hits as a terrorist strike happens again as the city is still healing from the last major hit. In an awkward and unexpected meeting to her handsome movie star neighbor, Sam, they both race down the the site to help out. Thrown together by tragedy, the get closer as the story is told along with side stories of both of her daughters as Kezia tries to repair her relationship with her oldest daughter.

The storyline flowed okay but with the back story of who caused the disaster downtown New York, it felt that it was kind of just thrown in there. The ending for that portion of the story felt a bit hollow as I was curious on more of it.

I did enjoy the book and it was a quick read. I'd recommend it.

I have been reading Danielle Steel's books for years. I enjoy them because they are pure entertainment. I don't have to think and look for symbolism. I know I'm getting glitz, glamour, and a "happily ever after" ending. Her latest book is about a widow who moves across the country to be closer to her two daughters and start the next chapter of her life. This book is short, only 166 pages. This didn't stop the author from packing it in with many characters and their stories. However, it just didn't work for me.

I felt the book had too many characters, and their stories were not fully developed. We kept bouncing around from one person to the other. Additionally, many descriptions of them were repetitive, as if we'd forgotten who they were since they were last mentioned. I felt that we barely got to know the secondary characters, even though they kept reappearing throughout the book, apart from the main character.

****SPOILER**** Part of the story involved a terrorist plot on the 4th of July. I found this whole idea very odd in this story. While it was the reason that the main character met her love interest, the entire terrorist idea made me uneasy, and it seems like it was just lightly thrown into the story. Just as quickly as it happened, the whole matter was resolved. I felt that a plot device like this was made in poor choice, and something else could have been used in its place.

Will this stop me from requesting future ARCs of Danielle Steel's books? Of course not! I always enjoy her books as they give me a quick and entertaining escape from reality.

Never Too Late by Danielle Steel is a wonderfully told story about family, friends and fresh new beginnings.
This was a true Danielle Steel book where you experienced all the feelings of the character.
Another great book. It is the kind of book you can’t stop reading

Another entertaining and marvellous story from Steel. Strong characters and an interesting plot. I liked this one so much. The exploration of the relationships between the mom and her two daughters was something I particularly appreciated. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy. This was a pretty typical DS book. Tragic event, everyone falls in love, lots of repeating itself.

I hate the feeling of not being 100% sure of a rating, but for me this was very middle of the road and I'm struggling to rate. It felt like a 2.5 star for me but I'm rounding up because I was interested in the romances, and I did feel things.

Thank you to the publisher for the granted wish to read new Danielle Steel! As a fan in a past life (like when I was a teenager/ young adult) I thought I'd love this.

My biggest reasoning for not giving more starts is the writing. There is soooo much telling not showing. I did feel things when the author wrote what the post-attack scene was like. But overall such boring writing. I kept reading for the relationship story lines but almost a DNF. Also, in one chapter the author used the word "shrink" to refer to a psychologist EIGHT times. What the hell man, lol.

The characters were (mostly) likable and the friendships and relationships developing were a big selling point for me.

I haven't read a Danielle Steel book since I was in high school borrowing my mothers library reads. I picked this one up thinking of the nostalgia and I wasn't disappointed.

This story, however, is not for the faint hearted. If you have triggers about 9/11 or other bombings, please be aware of the trigger warnings. Having said that, this was a lovely, inspiring story about two people connecting over a tragic incident in NY on July 4th that terrorized the country again. Sam and Kezia race to the bombing scene in terror willing to help anyone they can. Kezia being a retired Nurse Practitioner and Sam being a superstar brought light and help to the situation.

Both being widowed with children of their own they navigate new waters of life after death of a loved one. Kezia's daughters are completely different in their own ways. The story around them and their loves is unique and charming. Sams son is a kind character who fits in well with the rest of the family despite his overbearing girlfriend.

What I didn't like? Kate's character. She came around in the end, but I thought she was a whiny, woe is me I didn't have the dad I wanted child who did nothing but punish others because she herself wasn't happy with her life.

Overall, I liked the book a lot. It being my first DS in a while brought back memories and makes me want to pick up another one as soon as possible. Will be recommending this one immediately and getting my Mama a copy to read herself when it comes out.

Danielle Steel is one of the best at this genre. That being said, I struggled with the tragic event that is mentioned in the book description. Hits way too close to feeling from 9/11. Also losing her husband to Covid in 2020 could be triggering for some people. Other than those things, the characters were interesting and the idea of finding a second chance at an older age, whether it be 60 or late 30s, was enjoyable.

When Keezia lands in New York tragedy strikes and she is forced to reevaluate her career choices and meets a popular actor who just might over her a second chance at life.This is a book about never giving up hope even when things seem their darkest.Definitely a feel good book.

Never Too Late is an aspiring story that makes sure that it is never too late to keep dreaming and continue living the life that you are given. Fresh starts are abound for Kezia, who leaves San Francisco 5 years after the death of her husband, her daughter Kate, who finally gets the courage to break up with her 4 year boyfriend, Sam, an actor who lives in an adjoining penthouse to Kezia and Sam's son John, who breaks up with his 8 month girlfriend. In her apartment building, we also meet Paige, who is the mistress of a married Greg.
After a series of bombs are detonated in and around New York on the Fourth of July, Sam and Kezia become fast friends. Their friendship eventually turns romantic. John and Kate develop more than friends friendship and Paige gets the courage to move out of Greg's apartment.

In Never Too Late, Danielle Steel revisits one of her favorite themes, finding love after losing a spouse/partner. Kezia Hobson is a widow, who is about to turn 60 years old. She relocates to New York City from California to be closer to her two daughters, Kate and Felicity. Kezia meets movie actor Sam Stewart, who happens to be her neighbor. They share a devastating and horrifying crisis. ****** SPOILER Alert****** Domestic terrorism resembling 9/11. I found this part unnecessary and too upsetting.
In addition to Kezia's story, Ms. Steel tells Kate and Felicity's quests for love.
All in all a typical Danielle Steel. Not my favorite, but worth reading.

While the 4th of July fireworks are going, things change very quickly; a bombing of a different type interrupts the show. Both Kezia and Sam are drawn to help. As both reel from the horrors of the days to follow, their bond together grows. They both find that there is life after losing a loved one, and they find their second chance. Another awesome novel that really makes you think about life, and how it should be lived. Sweet story

This book begins based in tragedy and ends in happiness. When Kezia gives up her west coast life and relocates to NY to be closer to her daughters, she never expected to meet anyone, much less wind up volunteering at a disaster site. But she answered the call, and so did her new neighbor, a famous actor, Sam.

I enjoyed the way their relationship developed, and the way the families intertwined without problems. This was a clean, quick read and an pleasant way to spend a few hours. If you've liked books by Danielle Steel in the past, give this one a try as well.

What a wonderful story! It is Never Too Late to find your place in this world. I loved the interactions between family and friends and the couples. I loved how a point is made never to settle....don't give up on finding your true love!!!! This is a touching story of how wonderful human nature can be when it really counts. The human spirit is amazing and it sometimes shines when the world is at it's worst. I enjoyed this one very much. Thanks #Random House Publishing and #Netgalley for this amazing read!!!

I try to never ever ever DNF a book, and I was shocked it was a Danielle Steel book that i did this with!
I always enjoy DS books, I’ve read tons of them!
This one didn’t grab my attention at all, it was all over the place/unorganized, and repetitive.
I just could not get into this one.

Never Too Late is Danielle Steel's new novel focusing on Kezia and her family as she builds a new life. With Steel, you always know that the people will be pretty and privileged, that love will find them, and typically it's a pleasant journey. This novel tries a bit too hard to be topical with a background of a violent 9/11-like attack in NYC. However, that does allow us to see Kezia and Sam as people of more than expected depth. The storyline of who perpetrated the crime could have been excised without hurting the book and maybe allowing more time for Kezia, Kate, and Felicity's story and interactions.

I'm not sorry I read this but it won't stand as one of my favorite Danielle Steel novels. If she's trying to add complexity to her books maybe the protagonists could have to make their way through some form of conflict between them.

Trigger warning-this plot turns in some ways on an attack against New York City. That might not bother some but it wasn't something I wanted to read about in a Steel novel. The story of Kezia, a privileged wealthy woman who moves to the city as she turns 60 where she meets and bonds with her movie star neighbor. would have been more enjoyable without the tragedy (which isn't fully explored but which looms.). This is a good book. Danielle Steel has done it again, a book you start reading and can not put down. It is about The Hobson women. There is Kezia, the mother who is a widow. Kate, the daughter who is in a relationship for over Four years. Felicity, the daughter who just got engaged. It is about relationships. It is about falling in love.

I picked up this Danielle Steel book because I haven't read a book by her since my early twenties (maybe even my teens - she was a favorite of my mother, so they were always around the house for reading). Unfortunately, I'm not ready yet to read about explosions in NYC - even if they are fictional. I may never be. It just feels too real. Besides that, I enjoyed the beautiful people in beautiful places with lots of money, which I remember from Steel's books all those years ago.

I loved the journey Kezia traversed in this story. She had to figure out who she was now that she was a widow, her daughters were out of the nest, and she decided to move from San Francisco to New York City. Her old life is gone, and how she bravely forges a new life is inspiring.

I also loved the family themes and the various relationships within the families. Kate's struggles were particularly touching. She needed to resolve why her biological father had never been in her life in her own mind. The many unanswered questions weighed her down and made her unable to open up to new experiences and relationships. I loved watching her face that relationship head-on.

Never Too Late is a beautiful look at family members in transition and the bravery it takes to achieve self-actualization.
