Midnight Ruin is the latest installment in Katee Robert’s Dark Olympus series. Eurydice Dimitrou, Demeter’s youngest daughter, gets her chance in the spotlight. She begins a polyamorous relationship with both Charon, Hades’ right hand man, and Orpheus, her ex.
Throughout the book, Eurydice blossoms into a “player” in Olympus politics. In the past books, she was a sad and quiet girl that everyone felt they needed to protect but now she has grown into her own person. She gets key information, figures out what she wants in her love life, and develops a new kink.
While the polyamorous relationships are beginning to feel a bit old and overdone in this series, we got a lot of new information in this novel for the overall series plot. I am looking forward to see how it progresses further in future books.
Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for a copy of the book in an exhchange for an honest review.

Read if you like: friends to lovers, second chance romance, mythology retellings

This is the sixth book in the dark Olympus series and it follows Eurydice, Charon and Orpheus as they navigate life in Olympus and the consequences of a fateful night one year ago. This was a fun, quick read and I am really enjoying this series. If you like romance mythology retellings then this series is for you!

Anytime I am looking for an engaging and hot escape, I pick up something from Katee Robert. I’ve read the Touch of Taboo series in its entirety, part of the Deal with a Demon and O’Malley series and her newest book, Hunt on Dark Waters. Every book is a good time. I got pulled into the Dark Olympus series with Neon Gods and have devoured every book since.
Midnight Ruin is the 6th book in the series, and I would highly recommend reading all the books in order to get the most out of this one. Technically. you could read this as a standalone, but there will be spoilers for earlier couples and previous plot points.
I really enjoyed Midnight Ruin and although I have liked the whole series, it stands out as one of the stronger books. Midnight Ruin felt more balanced, a more even split between suspense and smut.
The book follows Eurydice, Charon, and Orpheus; I think Katee has described them as a triad. There are 3 major tropes in this relationship:
-Charon & Eurydice (friends to lovers)
-Charon & Orpheus (insta-lust/love)
-Eurydice & Orpheus (second chance)
I really enjoyed the dynamic between Charon, Eurydice, and Orpheus. Charon just wants a chance with Eurydice and will take whatever he can get. Eurydice loves the strength and stability that Charon gives her; it is exactly what she needed to recover from her attack. Orpheus and Eurydice have a strong connection from the past and are having trouble letting it go. Charon reads as the group leader and caretaker of both Eurydice and Orpheus; he is thoughtful and commanding.
I really enjoyed the development of the political conflict in this book; some of the other books have been light on updates.
Overall, such an enjoyable read. I can’t wait for the opportunity to travel back to Olympus again with Dark Restraint in August. Thank you so much to Sourcebooks Casablanca for the early copy, all thoughts are my own.

I really enjoyed this book, and loved what it brought to the Dark Olympus series. In previous books, I felt like the polyamorous relationships were not as well ironed out as what I had hoped, and this book did everything I wanted and more. I loved the suspense and the action and feel that the pacing of the story was really well done. I also loved all of the spicier scenes and feel that each relationship was well thought out. I did not know I would like puppy play, but wow were those scenes written well. My only critique, a small spoiler for those who have not read it yet, is that Charon is not as close-minded about Orpheus as I had expected to me. This is not to say his actions and reactions were not welcomed, I just thought he would have been angrier and more guarded than he turned out to be. Other than that, I really loved this book and highly recomend it!

Midnight Ruin continues the over-arching series plot line of Olympus being under threat by an unnamed foe (who's name is revealed in this book), as the backdrop to the relationship between Eurydice, Orpheus and Charon. This polyamorous triad features lots of different dynamics, and is a second chance between Eurydice and Orpheus (who has a bit to atone for). The book itself was fine - the longer the series goes on the more I want answers to a lot of the questions that are still open, and while we get the name reveal of the 'villain' it's not a character we've met and so the payoff of the reveal was lacking for me.
I continue to love how inclusive and diverse Katee's cast of characters are, but at this point I'm not sure if I'm going to continue.

An amazingly well done novel but the best Katee Robert! Things are progressing finally in the big scheme of the world and OMG I called it. I SO CALLED IT. And I have no idea how I called it haha.

Oh my word! So much happened! We've spent so much time in the upper city that it was so nice coming back to the lower city. I've always seen them as separate and to see that they've also been affected by everything that's happening is crazy to say the least.
Obviously always excited for the romance and oh it was good but the plot of this book is 100% what I was here for!!
Thank you Netgalley, Source Books Casablanca, and Katee Robert for the e-arc.

This is the sixth book of the Dark Olympus series, and it will not disappoint you. In this book you will get to know Eurydice, Charon, and Orpheus more and understand their story. I am infatuated with this whole series. The trope variety second chance romance, friends to lovers, MMF and forced proximity mixed in with the kinks of pining, groveling, puppy play, humiliation/shame kink, praise kink and penance make this and adventure to read that keeps you hooked to your seat with a ton of steam and spicy. I thought the character development was awesome in this book. You can see the diversity that the characters go through. While reading you can tell that the characters will do anything to make sure that they all will get their happy ending of all of them being together. I can't wait to see where Katee Roberts takes us next in this series..

I really need to start trusting Katee Robert. I wasn't sure about this one at the beginning and similar to the last one, wasn't sure I was going to like the characters and the coupling. But once again, I was very very wrong. Obsessed with these three by the end.
The modern retelling of myths and overarching plot of this series is easily what gets me to pick up each book in the series, but the characters and their relationships (and the spice) is what keeps me reading once I've picked it up.
Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the advanced ready copy!

book 6 in the ever popular 'dark olympus' romance series, 'midnight ruin' follows the polycule comprised of eurydice, charon, & orpheus, and continues the plot of growing tensions in olympus between the upper & lower cities. i enjoyed this one! the romance featured in this book was hot, & it actually felt like we finally got some plot development!

Every time I finish one of these stories, I'm instantly craving the next. I wasn't sure I would fall for the trio in this book, but getting to experience the delicate navigation of their relationship was perfect. I craved more, and hope we get to see the relationship flourish in future books.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
Midnight Ruin is book 6 in the series which I didn't realize when requesting. There is definitely a lot of missing context in the main story arc when you try to dive in this late in the series. The romance piece made for a great read, but it is highly recommended to begin at the beginning of this series for it to make sense.
Eurydice is still heartbroken after breaking up with Orpheus a few months ago. Charon has become her best friend, helping her get through her heartbreak but also falling for her and wanting to explore what they could be. Charon encourages Orpheus to come see Eurydice to apologize and help her get over him. Unexpectedly, the three of them experience a chemistry with each other that makes them feel complete.
This one is for fans of steam and mythology!

I love Katee Roberts books but this was probably my least favorite of the Dark Olympus books so far. Even as my least favorite it’s not like I disliked it. The spice was good and I appreciate the new plot info I just wasn’t attached to the couple that much. Can’t wait for the next one.

I think this book might be one of my favorites, both because of the relationship and because of how deep were diving into the plot between everyone. Finding out Minos's benefactor was WILD and I have a feeling that might be the love interest in the 10th book. Also, I love that Orpheus and Eurydice didnt just run back to each other quickly, it took them an entire year to really think over what they wanted and how to move past things. the relationships in this book felt real and raw, and something that I could honestly see happening in real life, if communication and connections like that actually happened. I am so excited to read the next one, though mostly for the plot and both of their involvements in it. I'm not particularly interested in the relationship between ariadne and the minotaur, but the sneak peak at the end at least got me intrigued.

Thank you Netgalley and Katee Robert for this arc read in return for a honest review!
For me this was a 3.5 star read! It was very action packed and excited to see this plot finally come to its peak. While it was definitely an entertaining read, I think all the development or plot was shoved towards the end so the pacing suffered a bit and I felt like the end was almost TOO much plot in such a short amount of time. I’m excited to see where the story goes, though. BUT I really enjoyed catching up with Persephone and Hades and also catching the cameos of previously featured characters.

Loved the progression of the plot and the smut is always 10/10, but some conversations are starting to be repetitive. It felt like every other page someone was going on about how much they love this city and would do anything for it

This series just gets better and better!
Orpheus has so much to apologize for and Charon encourages Eurydice to make him beg for it. Thus ensues one hot polyamorous relationship. The power play in this book is definitely what makes it so, so good. We have Eurydice dominating Orpheus and Charon dominating them both. The way Eurydice is portrayed as a switch in this relationship, OMG!
My favorite thing about the trios relationship was that Charon and Eurydice didn’t let Orpheus's self degradation continue to pull him down. They continued to reassure him that he shouldn’t see the degradation dished out as self punishment but as a way to work through whatever it is he was feeling and find the pleasure behind it.
Eurydice really came through as more than what we had previously seen from her sister’s point of view. Seeing her through the eyes of these two men who worship her was so refreshing.
We get to spend so much more time in the lower city, meeting new characters, and getting a look into Hades operations. And once the big reveal of who Minos’s benefactor is we get to see how the lower city put their citizens safety before anything else.
For sure my favorite in the series so far!
.

This was a good entry into the series in terms of politics, but the characters fell a bit flat for me. Katee is one of my favorite authors, so this couldn’t be a COMPLETE miss

Things are really starting to heat up now! I’m so impressed by this world and the storyline. Love how i care about every single character and fall in love again and again and again.
Eurydice, Charon and Orpheus are so good together. Sweet, caring and perfect.

The smut scenes are what saved this book. They were A1, the chemistry between the characters was unmatched. I could have done without the rest of the book. There was so much going on but nothing really happening. The conflict was so anticlimactic and the ending was abrupt. I would recommend this book for 2 reasons, 1) the smut 2) you get a small nugget of information that contributes to the plot line of the entire series.
