Wow this book was crazy! The way in which the father claims he is an “actor”, but is really a serial killer was crazy. This book was such a wild and crazy ride. I was shocked with the father pausing his killing in order to raise a child, then starts again in order to make his child his apprentice. I really enjoyed this book because it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time.

Oooooh what a creepy twisted ride of a story this was! If you’re looking for dark but not too dark, this is perfect (by that I mean it didn’t feel like horror to me but was more than a normal suspense on the edge of your seat read).
I’m really close to my dad, so the whole time I kept thinking “what if this had happened to me?” but of course, just like Linda, I can’t imagine it. I think Dunn nailed Linda’s thoughts throughout the book and I was right there with her, reacting similarly.

"Her Father's Daughter" by T. M. Dunn is a family drama that delves into the complexities of relationships and secrets. While the novel presents an intriguing premise and offers moments of emotional resonance, it falls short in terms of character depth and pacing. The narrative occasionally feels sluggish, with some plot twists coming off as forced rather than naturally unfolding. The characters, though well-intentioned, lack the depth needed to fully engage the reader. Additionally, certain plot developments feel formulaic and fail to bring a fresh perspective to the genre. Despite these shortcomings, Dunn demonstrates moments of storytelling prowess, and the exploration of family dynamics is commendable. "Her Father's Daughter" is a decent read, but it doesn't quite reach the level of depth and originality expected for a higher rating.

"Her Father's Daughter" by T.M. Dunn is a mysterious thriller that skillfully weaves a web of suspense and intrigue. Dunn's writing keeps readers guessing, and the plot is filled with unexpected twists that add excitement to the narrative. The atmospheric setting enhances the overall sense of mystery. However, while the novel successfully creates tension, some elements might feel formulaic for seasoned thriller enthusiasts. "Her Father's Daughter" receives a solid 3.5 stars for its engaging storyline, although a bit more originality in certain plot elements could elevate the overall experience.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ALC of "Her Father's Daughter" by TM Dunn. I was hooked as the story (stories) unfolded before me. A family drama wrapped with murder and the unknown make for a delicious combination of intrigue and suspense that I happily ate up.

This was so captivating from start to finish. I was so drawn into the story and found the characters to be so interesting. I was anxious to see where this would go. I did find the romantic parts to be a bit overdone and unnecessary though. I wish there had been a bit more development of the relationship between the father and daughter to help add to the tension at the end but overall I thought this was really well done. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

It took me a couple of tries to get into this audiobook, but once I gave it a chance I ended up enjoying the storyline. This one took the plot in a direction I wasn't necessarily expecting which is always nice for a thriller! I'm looking forward to reading and listening to more from this author, but won't be re-reading this one in the future.

Not gonna lie, this one took me a few different tries to finally get into it. It was a good audio, just not really for me.

Listened to the audiobook a while back with mixed feelings after and not sure how to rate it.
At the end I decided this isn't really for me.
Thanks Dreamscape Media & NetGalley for this.

As she reads notebooks her father left for her, Linda discovers that she doesn't really know her father at all and is shocked at the person he really is. I could not stop listening to this one! The audio was fantastic. The storyline started off strong and got even stronger the further I got into it. There were so many unexpected twists in this story - I loved it!

Her Father's Daughter
by T. M. Dunn
Narrated by David Bendena; Cara Swingline
So this book was not anything like what I was expecting to listen to. It's a slow burn, so if you're looking for fast action, you may want to look elsewhere. That being said, I haven't read a story like this in some time. Linda and her dad own and operate the family extermination company that mainly services high-end luxury apartments in high rises. Linda finds a dead body at one of her residents homes and her police officer ex and her partner meet her at the crime scene. Flip to her fathers narration. He's an actor. He studies people for his roles. Oh, and he has a few other secrets in his past as well. The police are looking for her father. As Linda tries to figure out why the police are looking for him nd what exactly is going on, she uncovers a wealth of secrets...
The narration was well done, and as I mentioned earlier, this was a good listen. There were no major triggers that I can think of. Thanks so much to NetGalley, the author, and Dreamscape Media for the chance to review and listen to this ARC!

Linda Donovan and her father, Anthony, have been working together as pest exterminators in New York City. If that’s not scary enough for you, read on.
Linda must do her first job alone on the anniversary of her mother’s death, and she is shocked to find an elderly client dead, with a rat having dinner on the body. It not only seems this lady need an exterminator, but when the cops arrive, it appears she may have been murdered. And Linda’s father has disappeared.
I don’t have the room even to begin to describe this story. I had no idea that this was as twisted as it turned out to be. Linda comes across as somewhat naive, maybe gullible. She gets fooled by both the people she loves. Perhaps she just has a good heart, but that can be dangerous.
Anthony’s chapters are journal entries as he tries to explain his life to his daughter - he says he is an actor, but the roles he plays are sick and twisted. The pages also reveal generational abuse that created monsters - the question is: can Linda break the chain?
Anthony’s POV is chilling and dark - they come with several trigger warnings - unless you are a connoisseur of serial killer thrillers. A great one for the spooky season!

Omg, this story was so twisty, hauting and disturbing and I loved everything about it.
I loved how Linda’s father story slowly developed and how it all connected at the end. I was glued to my seat reading it.

4 stars!
"Her Father's Daughter" by T. M. Dunn surprised me in more ways than one. This is a dramatic, disturbing, savvy, pretty twisted book that kept me guessing about the direction of the story. I enjoyed the dual points of view and found the story to be mostly fast-paced, though I will admit that there were aspects of both Linda and Anthony's POVs that dragged the story down here and there. I found myself drawn into what was going on from the first few chapters and had to keep reading to find out the ending. It sure sucked me in! Some aspects of the plot could have been kept a secret for a little longer in the narrative, but I digress. The descriptions are gross, the mystery is tense, and the tea is piping. I think this book is as successful as it is because of the brilliant narration from both David Bendena and Cara Swingline. They MAKE this book! Fantastic audiobook work here. Fans of familial dramas, thrillers, and mysteries will probably be satisfied by the contents of this book. Try to go in knowing as little as possible for maximum payoff.
Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, and T. M. Dunn for the complimentary ALC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.

I started this novel having some idea of where it would end up based on the summary. It was a slow burn, which is rarely my thing. Regardless of both of these facts, I was hooked from page one. Well minute one, because I read this via audiobook. The narrators were incredible and I would highly recommend it be read this way. This is the perfect read for those who follow true crime largely because of a need to figure out how some humans end up doing the unthinkable. Her Father's Daughter leaves you stumped, perplexed, and, above all, disturbed and unsettled. You will walk away wondering if we will ever really be able to figure out what makes someone evil.
Random aspects I loved:
Anthony sharing his story in the form of a play
Betty's character
Detective Francescone's character
The depth of all the locations portrayed in the novel

This is my second book in a row where a parent completely snowballs their child and their adult child has to go on a hunt on their own to discover who their parent really is and the dark family secrets that they are hiding.
We have two POVs which are played exceptionally by two different narrators. Something I always prefer. Full casts are great too but honestly just two different voice actors for two different people is all I can ask for. AND for them to be appropriately cast, which they are in this book. So we have Linda, the daughter of Anthony, who starts her day like any other day. Except it's the anniversary of her mother's death, but the biggest company client needs emergency extermination and Linda wants to go at the behest and pretty much begging of her father not to go. So she does and finds a lady with a rat eating off her face. Yep. That's fun. Linda then runs into her ex Jessica who is a detective. Linda broke Jessica's heart. Though this book is NOT a romance there is a tiny dropping of romance in it. Linda at some point will have to figure out the mystery of the rat woman and why her dad has disappeared.
Then we have Anthony. His POV was so very confusing at first. Just the words he used in the context he used them in didn't add up. At first. Anthony's POV is by far the most interesting. He is definitely an interesting character. I can't really go in to why he is without spoiling the plot. Let's just say his POV is a weird and twisted how I met your mother situation with an understanding of the upbringing that he had. In my opinion both of Linda's parents are just a screw loose.
The story is pretty interesting, we go down some really weird paths and strange grooming patterns. I also never understood what the "Greater Good" of Anthony's profession was. How were they bettering the world? I loved all the twists and the discoveries that Linda and Jess made regarding Linda's family. The whole dark and twisted tale was rather entertaining. It makes me glad for my own family dysfunction rather than what others may endure.

Anthony and Linda Donovan run the Donovan and sons pests extermination company and on this day 25-year-old Linda is going out on a call only to arrive and see one of their rich clients dead with the rat chewing her face off to make matters worse the police think her dad did it and she would love to ask him but it is the anniversary of her mom‘s death a day her dad always takes to go and visit the grave but this time Anthony doesn’t come back.. is Anthony missing or did he go on the run? when Linda tries to find out where he is, she doesn’t find him but finds notebooks and after reading them she will know her dead way better than she ever thought she would. I really thought this was some type of cozy mystery and was totally down for that but what I got instead was a mystery thriller it was OMG good! It deals with family secrets duplicity the ties that bind and family obligation and OMG it was good… Oh yes I said that! If you love a great mystery thriller with twist and unforeseeable subplots Then you’ll love Her Father‘s Daughter by T M Dunn it has dual narration by two stellar narrators who can evoke emotion and really deserves five stars on their own. I want to thank dreamscape media and NetGalley for my free art copy please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

So it turns out, your Dad is a serial killer… what do you do?!
Linda and her father are the duo that makes up Donovan & Daughter Exterminators. They are skilled at killing pests, but Anthony Donovan just might be even more skilled at murder than his daughter thinks.
When Linda goes solo on a call on the anniversary of her mother's death, she finds a wealthy elderly woman dead... partially eaten by rats. Something is definitely shady about the whole situation and when Anthony goes on the run, Linda is stuck with a reality more gruesome than a few pesky vermin.
Super dark, and intensely disturbing, I really enjoyed this clever and twisted serial killer story. Dunn expertly weaves past and present and it was a superbly unique, graphic, and creepy read, that will had me captivated at every shocking twist!

Told from dual points of view, we get to see the thought process of both Linda and her Father and how they ended up in this situation. While I found Linda to be obnoxious, I found the father to be fascinating. This is a very dark tale, as expected with a serial killer. The chapters are very long, but they were also full of necessary information.
I do believe the premise is a bit of a stretch, but I've never been rich-i hear they have different rules.
This book has great characters and an interesting plot, I just wish it had more action as opposed to mainly just being a retelling of family history.

Linda and her dad, Anthony, own a pest control business in New York. When Linda finds an old woman partially eaten by rats in one of their contracted apartments, the police are called. And suddenly, her father becomes a prime suspect. Linda has always found him to be a great father, but, the more she learns about this dead resident, the more she realizes, her dad is not at all who he seems.
Now, like I said in my TikTok video, this story is a bit convoluted. You know it is going somewhere, just not sure where. And to be honest, for half of the book, I kept saying….oh it can’t be him, it can’t be him…WELL! It was him! (Y’all know I never read the blurb, I have not said anything that is not in the synopsis).
Anthony is definitely a product of his environment. And I cannot believe there was not more damage to Linda when she was growing up. He was a very loving father to her. But when the time came to draw her in to the REAL family business, Anthony shows his true colors.
I really enjoyed how this story unfolded. It is very twisty and intense!
The narrators, Cara Swingline and David Bendena were an excellent tag team.
