I can see why some people would not like this book but come on! This was so original! This was just a crazy journey!
Her Father's Daughter by T. M. Dunn, an audiobook narrated by David Bendena and Cara Swingline was a wild storyline! And narrators - with all respect, you both did just a fantastic job! You made this audiobook so alive!
It would be complicated for me to tell what this book is about without giving out some details so I will say: This book is about a unique family circumstance, unique family bondage, and trauma! This book is about trusting someone with all your heart and seeing the results of that trust.
As I said, this was a unique book! Seriously, unique!
There were enough "Oh NO!" moments, there were heart-racing parts, and there was hope and disappointment.
I definitely recommend this book if you are craving something fresh, something different!
I can't express how honored I feel to have this book! Thank you, NetGalley and Dreamscape Media!

Dark, strange and different
This story is told in alternating POVs. You have Linda's current POV, and her father's life in five acts as the other. I found Anthony's life far more interesting than the current events happening in Linda's life. It was pretty predictable with plenty of clues.
I really think I would have enjoyed it far more if it was just Anthony's life- not Linda unravelling her parents' lives.
I listened to the audiobook. Linda's chapters are narrated by Cara Swingline and her father's by David Bendena. The only complaint I have about the narration is when there was female dialogue in Linda's chapters- especially when Jess or the neighbor's caretaker were speaking.
I received an audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Her Father's Daughter by T. M. Dunn
(Narrated by David Bendena; Cara Swingline)
Dark, gripping and twisty thriller.
Linda Donovan now was 25 year-old and she had been working for her father at Donovan and Daughter Exterminators in New York City, which they had mission to find the rat and mice. On the anniversary of her mother's death, Linda had to work solo and she found a dead woman whose face was eaten by the rat...Some how Linda's father was involved in this suspicious case.
On the other hand, the story was interweaving with the letter-telling by Linda's father, about the romantic story of how he and Linda's mother met. From romantic to dark...
The narrators are both in American accent and both let the characters alive. They are able to create the dark vibe from the book. The storyplot was creative and unexpected. However, I found the story a bit disturbing especially when they talked about the rat.

Unfortunately, this one was a flop for me. It had a lot of very unlikeable characters, and the story felt like it was all over the place. It's hard to say much about it without really getting lost in the weeds of the plot, but it's safe to say this is one I can't say I'd recommend.
1.5 stars, rounded up because the writing was at least descriptive, even if the storyline was kind of a disaster.

Murder, love affair, police investigation, serial killer, family secrets- a book of thrills, chills, and page-turning excitement! Does Linda, the daughter, solve the puzzle in time? Does the family legacy continue? Prop your feet up, grab a beverage and snack because it's gonna be thrilling night!
Linda Donovan and her father, Anthony have spent their building their business called “Donovan and Daughter Exterminators”. On a solo run, Linda arrives at a residential building to spray for roaches. After being asked to continue her work in nearby residences, she stumbled upon the body of an elderly woman who's face has been desecrated by a huge rat! Once the cops arrive, foul play is suspected and they need to speak with Anthony due to his lack of attendance at the job site. However, presumed to be at the grave of his dead wife, he is no where to be found. Linda is eventually given notebooks detailing terrible secrets her father kept from her. Where is Anthony and what will become of him? Does Linda put the pieces together fast enough and is she cunning enough to get herself and her lover out of a dangerous situation? Hang on, It’s a hairy ride!
Narrators Cara Swingline and David Bendena we're excellent! The audio version flowed smoothly, was easy to follow, and of course, the character voice depiction was fantastic. Rapid changes did not affect rhythm or emotion. The storytelling style was realistic. I loved it! I will listen to more books by these narrators.
My overall impression of this book is of high marks and recommendations. I felt like I was actually in the story. The building up of character developments appealed to me most. Learning how each one thought, felt, responded to different situations.
This is definitely an Adult General Fiction/horror book with lots of mystery and thrills. So it met the genre expectations! I only recommend to adults due to content.
Thank you NetGalley, Dreamscape Media and T.M.Dunn for this audiobook copy of this book to listen to and review. All opinions are my own!

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC of this audiobook. This was an instant attention grabbing book! Wow every character and piece of the story was exciting and thrilling. I couldn’t put this book down. I finished it in a day and I wish there was more.

If you like thrillers that bend into horror? Dive right in to Her Fathers Daughter. What a book this is! It genuinely made me contort my face multiple times. It is a thriller with a duplicit father. This villain is one hell of a psychopath. And the narrators are brilliant

I feel like the author had a good plot going but many factors made it confusing and didn't keep me reeled in. I was surprised to see that this audiobook had chapters where it would be an hour long. The length of the chapters threw me off and I would forget where in the storyline the daughter was last doing since the chapter was so long. I felt like the daughter was discovering more about her love life then the actual mystery. Most of the time I was left confused and not entranced like I expected.

Her Father’s Daughter was a confusing book but it was confusing in the best way possible. It was confusing in a way that kept me intrigued where I had to know what happened and how it would all make sense.
This story is a dual POV. It follows Linda and Anthony who have a father-daughter business. Linda’s point of view follows her trying to figure out both her love and personal life during a time when she finds a dead body while working.
The other point of view is from her dad but it’s not done normally. From Linda’s perspective, you can see her dad is a loving father. Then her dad's side is told through what seems to be a story or notes that is telling the story of how he is an actor who basically takes on roles of being other people. He will study someone, kill them, and become them. It does not line up with everything you know about him from Linda’s side.
I was confused and just full of anticipation waiting to see how it all played out.
When we finally did make it to the end I was fully satisfied and loved it. This was a great read I can’t recommend it enough.

While Linda goes to work at her family’s extermination company, her father pays his annual visit to her mother’s grave. Linda arrives at a New York City apartment house to begin work and discovers one of the residents dead, and partially eaten by rats. The police want to question her father, but he is nowhere to be found. Evading the police, Linda’s father, Anthony, writes the story of how he met and fell in love with Linda’s mother in a series of notebooks, with the story becoming increasingly dark and disturbing. Not a story for the faint of heart

Thank you to #NetGalley and #DreamscapeMedia for the read/review of #HerFathersDaughter by #TMDunn. This is a very well written book with suspense, secrets and a history of…….. I can’t spoil it for you. I recommend it.

I can't even believe this book. I said "wtf?" out loud about 7 times. I mean, you kind of get the gist early one but holy crap the story keeps right on surprising you. So gross, so interesting, and so good.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
This was a weird one. Kind of confusing. I didn’t really like the male narrator. Female narrator did well. Book in general was a bit confusing but ok.

If you like psychological thrillers, add this to your TBR immediately! This was not at all what I expected. It was really dark and REALLY good! I can honestly say that I will never forget this book. The creep factor is off the charts and the story blew me away.

Oh wow, that really was a horrific story. (In a good sense, when it comes to horrifying stories in books!)
I have to say that I had a little trouble getting into the story. The first passages of Linda (our protagonist) stretched a lot. Not that these scenes were bad per se, but I just didn’t understand where this was going at the beginning.
I was also very confused by the parallel narratives of Linda and her father, as her father’s narrative took place in the past. It was written as if Linda had already found her father’s notebooks and was reading them - but that was not the case. (very confusing tbh)
It all felt okay to me at some point, but at the beginning it just made it hard for me to get involved in what was happening / what had happened.
I found the story that was told cruel and fascinating and surreal and absolutely disgusting. (Very creative of the author!) It was incredibly interesting to empathize with the characters and try to understand why people do things the way they do.
I liked the writing style, but in my view there was too much „said“ after a direct speech.
I can’t really say what I think of the ending. What started incredibly slowly at the beginning ended so quickly? I would have liked to see more interaction between our protagonists and a stronger elaboration of the feelings and circumstances.
Also why Anthony really decided NOW to act the way he did. I would have liked to know more of his thoughts and feelings in the present storyline.
However, I really enjoyed the story and, as time went on, I found the two different story lines very pleasant because they kept the suspense high! (Only the introduction of the two storylines was difficult for me).
I enjoyed the audiobook very much! Both David Bendena and Cara Swingline read infinitely well and I found Cara Swingline’s vocal variety especially fascinating! Only the character of Jess was a little too „whiny“ / „squeaky“ for me and I couldn’t quite take her seriously.
I liked the reading pace and also how the emphasis was chosen within the sentences. It felt like you were really inside a person’s head and not just listening to someone reading something aloud.
I am very impressed!
Above all, I would recommend this (audio) book to crime / thriller fans, especially if you like a bit of fucked up stories. What I also found very nice was the queer representation that wove itself naturally into the story. Love love love!
3.5 stars from me :)

Thank you NetGalley for this audio ARC. This book made zero sense from the start, and I absolutely hated the MC.
