Atmospheric locked room mystery, perfect for binge reading or a book for the beach. A bit slow to start but by the hen party, things get rolling and more suspenseful. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

As a lifelong lover of words & constant reader, I have no words. Plenty books entwined me & give me a real life escape, thanks to Netgalley but not many keep me glued to the page & rushed to get to the next. The Cliff House certainly did, however. And while the house itself wasn’t the draw, these ladies, their lives & secrets was more than so. I’ve never read anything by this author before & will have to catch my breath before I do again but it’ll happen😁. Block off 48 hours & hold on for your life then dove into The Cliff House!!’⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Cliff House by Chris Brookmyre caught my full attention reading the description of this story. And I immediately wanted to open it.

“Seven women. Seven sins. One night of judgment.”

What a page turner! I binged this book in a day and a half and enjoyed every moment.
Very well written, and the characters were all realistic and very well developed.
I really enjoyed the writing style. I found myself gripped, turning the pages, not knowing what was to come next.
It was suspenseful, mysterious and unpredictable.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
This started off a bit slow with a lot of viewpoints and characters but still held my interest.
I was invested in what was going to unfold in Jen’s hen party with such an array of guests. I love locked room and island mysteries and this one didn’t disappoint.
I loved the isolated setting a well.

Closed-door mysteries are one of my favorite tropes, but The Cliff House was a miss for me. The setup was too slow, none of the characters were very engaging, and the dialogue often felt forced. Unfortunately, this pretty quickly moved into my DNF pile.

Jennifer is getting married! It's a hen do weekend at a mansion on an island with her closest friends and family. What could go wrong?

Well, some of the friends were in a band - one member became incredibly famous and left the others behind. Jennifer, by they way, is about to begin her second marriage - her first husband is missing for years and presumed dead. For whatever reason, she has invited her sister in law to the weekend. Finally, the sister of her new husband is also attending. Jennifer has never met her. Throw in a handful of other friends and there is plenty of drama. When one of the women is kidnapped, the rest must put their differences aside and determine if they can get off the island alive!
If you love a vacation gone wrong, twists and turns you didn't see coming, locked room style mysteries, then this new entry will keep you reading and up all night! #TheCliffHouse #WWNorton #scarlet #ChrisBrookmyre

Heart pounding thriller that left me on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. Definitely one of the best books this year.
