Author Paige Edwards hit it out of the park with this Pressley-Coombes novel. I've loved all the books in this series but this one was like the icing on the cake. I love the way the characters from the other books played a role and they these characters had their own story as well. This is a romantic adventure you don't want to miss!

Skye Fall is an action-filled Christian romantic suspense that captured my interest from the very start. Isla is a very resourceful young woman who is on the run and is a very capable nurse. She has an encounter with American Ben and his father while they are on a climbing trip in Scotland. Fate couldn’t have given them a better opportunity and the adventure, danger and mystery only served to make this story perfectly perfect.

The painting, the setting, the romance, the suspense, the religious elements, and the characters made this one so well-rounded and balanced. The forced proximity and twists and turns were some of my favorite parts. I haven’t read the others in this series, but now I want to, and this book can stand alone.

Content: mild romance; mild moments of danger and peril; mild religion

What a sweet story. It’s about an abused woman running for her life and the men that come into it, and help her find love and her faith in God again!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own

#BookRevew : SKYE FALL by Paige Edwards

The Heirs of Falcon Point was co-authored by Ms. Edwards andI enjoyed it. So technically, this is my first full book by the author. Skye Fall is the fourth book in the series. I wish I had read the others but I think this can still be read as a standalone. What truly shines is the delightful dynamic between the Pressley-Coombes siblings. Their playful affection is an absolute joy to witness.

The simmering danger threaded through the narrative, but the initial pace felt measured, drawing out the agonizing fear of Shay's proximity to Isla. Richard, and then Ben, stepping in as guardians warmed my heart with their unwavering loyalty. The romance was a subplot but sweet nonetheless. I also appreciate some faith content laced in the story.

The Scottish setting was beautiful. I had fun looking up pictures of the Fairy Pools. They are beautiful. This was a good first book for 2024. I can’t wait to dive into the author's other books.

Another resounding read by Paige Edwards!

I love how much gets built in her books. I love that there is back story, and plenty of time to make connections in her characters lives. The two main characters always are given time. That is something a lot of other books sometimes miss and you have to suspend your disbelief for that romance to work out. That can be a good thing too, but I appreciate the time given to the characters. They are usually given proximity too, which always helps.

I always enjoy that I get to know who the bad guy is in her books. It makes things tense as she weaves the story in and out with encounters between the protagonists and the antagonists as well. You know as a reader, and sometimes the characters know who to stay away from, as we see in Skye Fall.

Skye Fall was no different. But that meet cute! I was laughing. I can only guess I would have her reaction to meeting Ben in her state of mind, as well.

After being left for dead by her corrupt police officer boyfriend, Isla has to leave her family ties and goes into hiding. She is on the move trying to make sure she isn't found. But when Ben and his dad come into her life, danger ends up coming closer to her than ever before. Through the Pressley-Coombes men, she is able to find some relative peace in the states. Through a tentative association, a deep love comes. But that may not be enough to save Isla from danger.

Paige Edwards does a great job of making you feel sucked into her books right from the beginning. She is always an author I would recommend.

Loved this book! Isla is a wonderful female protagonist who has survived physical abuse from her boyfriend but suffers from fear as a result. Isla leaves her family in England to protect them. Ben Pressley-Coombes' father falls when they are rock climbing on the Isle of Sky and Isla is the nurse assigned to him at the hospital. I loved how Ben and his father secretly fly Isla home with them to the US and employ her as a private nurse in order to protect her and hide her from her abuser. This was an excellent story of recovering from abuse. Be sure to read the Author's Note at the end of the book. I received a complimentary e-book through NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.

Skye Fall is my first Paige Edwards read, but it will not be my last! I loved this story from the first page till the very last word. This story contains everything I love in a book. It has a perfectly sweet romance, great secondary characters, intrigue, mystery, and suspense!

I loved both Isla and Ben and their story, which is a marriage of convenience - one of my favorite tropes. I really loved Ben. While during their first meet, he was understandably grumpy, he literally has a heart of gold! He is so understanding of what Isla is going through. Isla was such a likable character. She persevered through all of her adversities. There were so many things that happened in this story that I did not expect. I love when an author does that! I also really loved the faith thread that was perfectly woven throughout.

I have not read any of the other stories in this series, but I was not confused at all. I can’t wait to go back and read the first three books.

I received a complimentary copy of the story. All opinions are my own. 5 stars!

After catching her boyfriend Shay being a corrupt police officer and escaping his attempt to murder her, Isla changed her last name and went on the run. She refuses to involve her high profile family for their own safety, and can't trust the authorities because of this network of corruption. But when she meets a generous patient (after pepper spraying his son), he offers her a nursing job in the United States that might help her really escape. But Shay is still after her, and her patient's son Ben is growing on her.
The comparisons between the U.S. and U.K. were fascinating. I love that Isla is unknowingly Ben's favorite artist. I love Ben's family and his relationship with each one of them. I don't like that he was lonely because his siblings married and "moved on with their lives." You shouldn't "move on from family. If I'm honest, the repeated notion that their mom's side of the family literally has a romantic gene that says each person only falls in love once is a bit silly. Tendency, sure, but gene? And the emphasis on romantic love was so emphasized throughout. One character was not Mirandized in custody and during interrogation, which is illegal. Isla was burglarized, not robbed. And a sports fandom is not a "fetish." That makes it creepy. Lastly, Isla pepper sprayed Ben just because he approached and surprised her that can't be the only time someone has done that. Overall, I enjoyed this unique book.

I tried. Very clearly a “not for me” DNF at 35% as I was only and exclusively enthralled with the initial Scottish setting. I’m here for the romance, so Fairy Pools and ancient peaks can only do so much.

Whenever I venture from my beloved historicals it’s on the forever optimistic hope that characterization, tropes and general swooniness will carry me through a less read subgenre. Contemporary romantic suspense I want to like, but I keep having a hard time. I wonder if it’s like when one is away from home and seemingly small inconveniences irk one more? I’m always excited for the peril and mystery, some protectiveness and intensity, but so far for my limited venturing, no overwhelming success.

I’ll just go through my unpopular opinion grievances: Set up pacing tried my romance-reader very little patience. Near to 30% and our couple still hadn’t had a full conversation. At least we got some individual background exposition, but characterization for both just a little above bland. And what had me waving that white flag: once we do get some forced proximity, for me the chemistry/tension was as tepid as a forgotten cup of Mrs. McKellip’s herbal tea. When this happens, I start petty complaining about distracting literary devices (as proven, I can enjoy a random simile) and compounding head-scratching villain POVs. So then it’s like “Not having fun. Want to get off.”

Grateful to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC.

Content notes from as far as I got: Mention of parent death grief. On page accident (not graphic). Heroine physically assaulted on page (not graphic).

This is a sweet, romantic suspense that really held my attention through-out!
The beginning really hooked me, the 'meet-cute' between the main characters was great, I loved the action scenes, and I loved the themes of over-coming the past. I also loved the marriage of convenience trope!
At times the book was a little too preachy for me, but otherwise I enjoyed this story!

Action packed and full of swoon! This starts off with a so much suspense and then swivels to an adorable, painful meet cute. I loved the nurturing nature of the FMC and her determination. I really enjoyed this. The MMC was so sweet and patient. It sucks you in from the beginning and holds you to the very end!

Isla Montjoy is newly in love with her policeman boyfriend when she discovers he’s a crooked cop who is involved in an organization that covers up their crimes—by making sure no one lives to tell about them. Isla survives her brutal attack and goes into hiding to protect her family. After changing her name and settling in a small town in the Scottish highlands, Isla meets Ben Pressley-Coombes and his father—right before her ex-boyfriend tracks her down and tries to kill her. In order to protect her, Ben and his family take her in and spirit her away to the U.S. Isla is drawn to Ben and his kindness and decency, but she’s afraid to let herself feel anything for him. He gives her a sense of safety she hasn’t had in a long time and part of her wants to give in and let herself fall in love. Does she dare? Or will danger find her again?

This book is loaded with mystery, suspense, and a sigh-worthy romance. From the U.K. to the U.S. readers will be immersed in Isla’s British culture (there’s even a glossary to help readers with the more obscure British words and meanings) that adds a layer of authenticity to the story. Skye Fall is also part of a series, and several previous characters from Ben’s family are part of this book, but readers can read this one standalone and not feel lost. Isla is a strong woman who will do anything to protect her family. She works hard as a nurse to heal people and pours her soul into her paintings—even with a killer stalking her every move. Ben has a loving, supportive family who is dealing with their father’s unexpected injury and the possibility someone has embezzled millions from their family business. The author does a wonderful job intertwining the two mysteries Ben and Isla are facing as well as their sweet romance. Isla is realistically portrayed as she deals with triggers and trauma and Ben is an understanding hero who wants to do whatever he can to help her heal. Romantic suspense fans will love this well-balanced, edge-of-your-seat story with an inspirational ending.

This is a fantastic book, especially for those who enjoy romantic suspense and stories dealing with delayed abuse recovery. The mix with faith was just right, too! Isla is a nurse living in Scotland, hiding from her former boyfriend. When Isla accidentally discovered that he is "bent" he tries to silence her and leaves her for dead. But she does recover and stays in hiding. An older gentleman, Richard, needs her nursing skills after an injury while mountain climbing, so when her former abuser finds her, she agrees to go to America with Richard and his son in order to stay alive. How the story weaves itself into a final happy ending is full of twists and surprises! There is even a Skye Fall list of British vocabulary words. I learned that "bonnie" means pretty, as well as other words.
I very much appreciate reading this Advance Reader Copy from the publisher. This was the first book I have read by this author, and I look forward to reading more! The thoughts expressed are my own.

Oh my goodness! This was soooo awesome! I hadn’t read the books in the series, but didn’t matter! I was hooked from the very beginning! I loved the characters and the craziness of the suspenseful story! I was so thankful for all the points of view! But mostly I really enjoyed the love that came from turning our burdens to Him! What a beautiful book! Enjoy!

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC! All opinions are mine!

This story is empowering, emotional, enticing, engaging and if I could think of any more e words I’d list them too. But words are not enough to explain the beauty of this story.

It gives you all the chemistry and tension of a marriage of convenience with the added thrills of a great suspense.

With well placed red herrings and close calls that keep you on the edge of your seat.

Wrap that all up in the powerful message of healing from trauma and learning to love and live and this story is nothing short of powerful.

I would recommend this book over and over, especially to someone learning to recover from any type of abuse.

Isla has a job she loves and a boyfriend, who is a policeman, she adores. It all comes crashing down when she discovers that her boyfriend is a vigilante and selling weapons to terrorists. He stabs her and leaves her for dead. After she recovers, she leaves everything behind and hides. She's done this for two years. Now she believes her ex-boyfriend has found her.

This is a good mystery. I wouldn't call it a suspenseful book. But it has a good story line. I would recommend this book to all who like a good mystery.

I received this book from Covenant Communications via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.

Isla is on the run from her bad-cop ex-boyfriend, using a fake name in order to keep her high profile family safe. Ben is in Scotland with his father, Richard, on a birthday climbing trip when his father is seriously injured. His father is taken to the hospital where Isla is working and she's assigned to be his nurse. Ben demands another nurse care for his father because of a previous interaction with Isla (it's really funny and I don't want to spoil it) but his father overrides Ben and keep Isla as his nurse. This ends up helping Isla hide from her ex-boyfriend and the others who still want her dead.

Ben is dealing with a lot--his father's injury in another country, getting him back home to the U.S., trying to figure out a way to save the family company and also track down the dishonest employee. He did not want to be attracted to Isla, let alone fall in love with her, but it seems life had other plans for him.

Isla is such a strong woman! I doubt I would have survived multiple attempts on my life and been able to continue to carry on as a nurse helping others. I think I would've cracked and let my family know what was going on a lot sooner than Isla did. I would've needed their support.

Things I loved:
* The hilarious meet-cute
* Ben's kind heart
* Isla's strength
* Seeing other Pressley-Coombes family members
* The twist
* Marriage of Convenience
* Close proximity
* Multiple POVs
* Isla's painting

These Pressley-Coombes siblings sure know how to get themselves into situations which makes for a thrilling ride for us readers. This one grabbed me right away as it starts with a character fighting for her life! I loved the multiple points of view especially getting the bad guy's POV--I find the way they think very interesting. Romantic suspense is one of my favorite genres and I've loved every book I've read by Paige Edwards. Believe me, you don't want to miss this one. You can read this one as a standalone but I highly recommend reading all the Pressley-Coombs books.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.

Absolutely brilliant! I loved everything about this book. It was so fun getting to know more about Ben's character. There were so many twist and turns that it kept me reading into the wee hours of the morning. Paige Edwards also did so well at capturing all the feelings and struggles of trauma and how it can truly affect someone's life. Highly recommend.

This was a great book by Paige Edwards. I loved seeing characters from the previous books in this series and getting to see Ben fall in love. I loved how Isla and Ben didn’t trust/like each other at first. Their first meeting was so entertaining. I liked how as they got past that initial meeting and learned to trust each other, they were able to help each other and eventually fall in love. I liked the suspense in this story. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see how things would resolve. If you like the other books in this series or just love a good romantic suspense, then this is a book to check out.

I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors.  A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.

I absolutely loved this book! It is my favorite of the Pressley-Combes series. Isla is on the run from her ex boyfriend when she discovers his dark secret and he tries to kill her. While hiding out in Skye she has a chance meeting with Ben when he startles her and she pepper sprays him. Isla’s ex boyfriend finds her and tries to kill her, and Ben and his father offer her a refuge at their home in the United States. This leads to a marriage of convenience, and maybe to love?
