I always try to have at least one devotional to read each day. This one had already launched by the time I found it, but it was just in time to read in December. I suggested my close friends read it with me and we have all enjoyed this “Luke” journey to the celebration of Jesus birth.

I really believe that I will read this devotional in Decembers to come. Why? A chapter of Luke a day, perspective on a portion of the scripture and a prayer at the end of each day. Greg Matte’s insights pair verses within the chapter to how they can relate to Christmas. Such as, Jesus story, understanding through His parables and how we can display His attributes throughout the season. I highly recommend this devotional for the Christmas season whether you take this meaningful journey alone or with your family or friends.

I received this book from the author/publisher free of charge, with no expectation of a positive review.

I love reading Luke each Christmas. It’s a tradition I started for myself a few years ago, and that’s exactly how this book opens. When I read that, I knew it was the book for me! Each year I find a new devotional to read along with Luke, and I’m happy I found this devotional this year. It’s exactly what I needed. There are 24 chapters in Luke, so that at the end of the 24 days, you know the who and why of celebrating Christmas. The devotional starts on December 1st, so you read the first chapter of Luke, read the devotional for that day, and then there is a prayer at the end of the devotional. The next day you read the next correlating chapter, chapter 2, and so on. This is a great devotional to add to your collection!

This has been a wonderful, Bible based read for preparing our hearts and minds for the celebration of the birth of the Messiah. From the prophesies of the OT to the Jesus of the NT and the hope that God has sent to a lost and dying world, this helps to bring our focus back on the true meaning of the joy within us.

I genuinely loved this book. The premise of this book focuses on the fact that if you read a chapter a day from December 1 to December 24, you will have read the entire book of Luke by Christmas Eve. Each devotion looks at the correlating chapter through a gospel lens and reminds the reader of the importance on focusing on Christ during this Christmas/advent season. The devotionals themselves aren't terribly long and could easily work themselves into a family dinner table reading. Each concludes with a prayer reflection on what was just read. All in all, I highly recommend it, especially if you're wanting to read more scripture!
