This is 100% amazing. A sex worker doctor man and his is adoption agency wife get blackmailed into a nightmare that involves other people they love.
The narration was spot on.
You absolutely have to read this one. I will be sharing this with my book club friends .

Wait for Dark is the first time I have ever been disappointed with a book by Kiersten Modglin. I saw all of the twists before they happened, which has never occurred before. I also didn't like the story; it was entirely too convenient and boring. I read a review by Sue S. and agree with her take: too many books are being published each year by her compared to other authors that release one book a year, making it seem that quantity is more important than quality. That being said, I will still (likely) listen to Kiersten's next book.

Andrew Eiden as Hudson is captivating to listen to. Kim Churchill as Willa is a good narrator. However, it's hard to differentiate her voice for the women, especially when Willa and Murphy were in conversation.

I rate Wait for Dark 1.5 stars rounded to 2, simply because I was able to finish it.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media for providing me with an ALC.

Discovered one of the narrators was Andrew Eiden and instantly wanted to give this book a go. Overall, the storyline was…..well, different and sometimes, there were too many details. The first chapter had me hooked, then things started going south…quickly, at around 25%. We are treated to two (2) POVs and various plot twists. The main male character (Hudson) was smart, yet dense…while his wife (Willa) was annoying and naive, with actions that were consistently questionable. Side characters were good, especially Murphy... who was a hot mess that had me rooting for her in the end. At one point and after my 20th eye-roll, all I could think was “Y’all are both boneheads and truly deserve one another. Bless y’all’s hearts.” The ending was a meh plot twist and I was left wanting more…but ask me if I could write a better ending…NOPE! So kudos to Modglin 🙌🫡

I would recommend this book, especially if you are looking for a quick read with some thrills, suspense and never ending secrets.

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the gifted ARC (audiobook)…as all opinions are my own.

Thanks Netgalley for the ARC of this audiobook. I don’t know how this author does this but I’m pretty sure this is her 3rd book this year!! This book did not disappoint! This was everything I wanted in a thriller with tons of secrets and twists.

How far would you go for money? What would you do? When a Lothario OB/GYN and his wife come across a woman who knows all their dark secrets, they’re left with no choice but to comply with her demands or risk her exposing the truth about them. She wants a baby, and she’ll do anything to get it; price is no object. I had a hard time with this because I didn’t like any of the characters, honestly didn’t care what happened to them

I always enjoy escaping into a KMOD book. I know that the book is going to be entertaining and full of twists and reveals. I listened to the audiobook version of this book and once I hit play, I kept listening until it was finished! I enjoyed the two narrators; they did a great job bringing this book alive.

Willa and Hudson are happily married. They are working at paying off their bills and saving for a comfortable future. She is a social worker, and he is a doctor. He also has a “job” he occasionally works at night and when he is made an offer, he/they can't refuse, he takes it. Both will regret this decision.

This was an entertaining, fast paced, and gripping book that sucked me in from the very beginning. I had to keep listening all day partly due to the plot, the other reason is that I was enjoying the narrators. So much fun! If you have read a KMOD book you know what you are getting into. This book surrounds secrets, choices, decisions, and relationships. I enjoyed the characters, even the unlikeable one, which made this read even better.

This was pure entertainment and enjoyment.

I write this less than stellar review for a "Kmod" (I hate that name) book knowing full well that the fangirls tend to go after reviewers. But, despite getting this one as an audio arc from Netgalley, I really want honesty in reviews so here goes.......

I've read a TON of Kiersten Modglin books and I feel like it's either hit or miss. She's had some incredibly great books (looking at you The Arrangement), and then the duds are duds. Sadly, Wait for Dark, was a dud for me.

From the get-go, I disliked the characters. They fell flat, no depth, nothing likeable. Caveat for the readers vs. listeners - a narrator can ruin words and perhaps the flatness of delivery on this audio worsened my experience, so do with that what you will. But, even without narrator influence, I did not like these people. Not one of them. If you cannot care about the characters, caring about the plot and what happens to them is near impossible.

The plot itself involved a whole lot of suspension of belief including the fact the Doctor husband was also a sex-worker to help pad their finances and make car purchasing easier. Perhaps this is why my husband refuses to upgrade our 2017 Subaru.

I could go on and on, but the bottom line is this one is described by the publisher as "General Fiction, Mystery and Thriller." Yes, it was fiction, but not a mystery when the plot is pretty guessable and the only thing thrilling was when it ended and I could move to the next book.

And this part of my commentary is completely me sharing my inner monologue - Ms. Modglin has produced 39 books in about 7 years. Each of her books are short (audio ones tend to last between 5-7 hours while other authors I enjoy produce a book or so a year with audios lasting upwards of 15-20 hours). I'm wondering if quantity is replacing quality.

I can always count on an excellent domestic thriller by Modglin.

The Ashley’s both come from a past that they want to forget. When they married they knew the kind of life they wanted and life was working out well. Happy with their life, careers and everything in general.

A lady comes to them with an offer of a life time which can pay off all their debts, but it comes with a heavy price. If they refuse the secrets from their past can send them to jail. Some secrets don’t hurt anyone, but one of those secrets involved a death.

What will the Ashley’s do? Can they go through with this agreement or will the truth set them free? Loved the storyline and the realistic relationship. Not everything is what it seems. Modglin never disappoints me. Halfway through her fabulous backlist and if you like domestic thrillers I highly recommend her. She also has books on kindle and audio.
