There’s just something about Lindsey Kelk’s romances! I am generally not a romance reader, sticking primarily to rom-coms when I do. I often find myself hate-reading romances because they don’t come across as inauthentic to my own experiences, so I have a hard time taking them seriously. However, Lindsey Kelk’s books are the exception. I actually enjoy her romances, finding the characters to be both likable and relatable .. not to mention funny! While most romances can be a chore to read, Kelk’s books are an utter delight!

Love Me Do jumps right into British narrator Phoebe Chapman’s vacation to visit her sister Susanne in Los Angeles. Phoebe is ready to relax and soak up that California sunshine she has heard so much about, but Phoebe doesn’t yet know what awaits her in the City of Angels. Not only does Susanne have to take off to Seattle to work, leaving Phoebe alone in her gorgeous, yet massive home, but she finds herself making friends with everyone in her sister’s circle. From kind of maybe falling hard for Susanne’s swoony bird-watching neighbor Ren, to then setting up her sister’s personal trainer Bel with him, Phoebe’s vacation to Los Angeles is not quite the trip she had in mind. And this is all before Susanne’s other neighbor, an elderly and opinionated former actress takes Phoebe under her wing and shows her the ways of the world. This is definitely a trip for the books, but will Phoebe have to courage to make it the love story she so desperately wants?

Love Me Do is a great little rom-com! This book has an engaging plot and lovable characters! Everyone in this story has a distinct and magnetic personality, making this book a lot of fun to read. Phoebe gets herself into quite a few pickles throughout the course of this novel, ramping up the drama and endearing her to readers as they root for her to find a way out of the messes she has made. I loved how seamlessly Phoebe integrated herself into Susanne’s lifestyle, making friends and exploring the city in ways she never would have imagined before this trip. This happy read is a pick-me-up … that you should pick up!

This was such a sunshine-soaked deligh, equal parts classic rom-com and love letter to Los Angeles, with just enough heart and heat to make it sing. Plus, the characters are so charming.

It’s a little chaotic at times and the setup does take a few chapters to fully click, but once it does, it’s pure comfort. Sweet, funny, and full of classic rom-com nods, with enough emotional payoff to make it more than just fluff.

I really liked this fun story of a Brit in LA with a glamorous Old Hollywood actress living right next door. It's a modern-day reverse Cyrano de Bergerac in which Phoebe, a copywriter, helps her friend get the guy of her dreams by writing love letters for her and coaching her in what to say during a date. Some really cute, and funny moments.

Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Love Me Do is a cute and breezy read with Lindsey Kelk’s signature humor and charm. The setting was fun and the dialogue sparkled, but the romance didn’t fully hook me, and some plot points felt a bit rushed. Still, it’s an enjoyable escape with plenty of lighthearted moments—great for fans of easy, feel-good rom-coms.

I wanted to love this book based on the cover alone, but sadly it fell a little flat for me. Something was missing for me. I feel like I went into this looking for those fun and swoony pinch me moments you want in a romcom and you just didn’t get enough of that.

I did love Phoebe as a main character, but Ren felt like a side character and not the leading man. We just didn’t get enough moments between the two of them.

I would still recommend this book but just not as a romance and more as a woman’s fiction.

“I have felt so worthless for so long but when I’m with you, I feel like I’m enough.”

The ultimate feel-good poolside read—brimming with warm California sunshine, a charming love interest with golden retriever energy, and the kind of witty, romantic humor that makes you smile without even realizing it.

I swooped into Love Me Do by Lindsey Kelk expecting breezy sunshine—and what I got was an unexpected tug at my heart that lasted long after the last page. Phoebe Chapman, a greeting‑card writer fresh off a toxic relationship, lands solo in her sister’s fabulous Hollywood Hills house. I felt her excitement—and her nerves—as she steps into the limelight of LA, and her embrace of being the organizer of other people’s love felt so real.

When Phoebe volunteers to write love letters for Bel, her sister’s personal trainer, to woo Ren—the swoon‑worthy carpenter next door—I was instantly charmed. That initial setup felt like sweet, rom‑com gold. Watching Phoebe’s own feelings bloom for Ren while she plays Cupid had me both rooting for her and cringing at the irony of it all .

Ren is everything you want in the perfect neighbor—kind, down‑to‑earth, and unexpectedly vulnerable. And Bel? She’s bubbly and warm, the kind of friend I’d want cheering me on. The friendship between these three—especially the bond Phoebe builds with the glittering Myrna Moore, an elderly Hollywood icon—gave this story real heart .

What surprised me most was how the story balanced lightness with deeper moments. Phoebe’s healing after abuse, her journey toward self‑worth, and her evolving relationships weren’t glossed over. Those scenes had me tearing up and reflecting on my own past—all while I smiled at the banter and the LA glow .

If there’s a quibble, it’s Bel’s occasional shift from sweet friend to insecure rival felt a little uneven, but Phoebe’s authenticity and the slow‑burn love with Ren carried the story through .

Love Me Do isn’t just another cute summer romance—it’s a story about renewed hope, friendship, and the courage to risk falling in love again. I closed it with a grin and a sigh, loving Phoebe’s journey almost as much as I loved her letters.

3.75/5 stars! There was a lot to like about this book. It's a fluffy rom-com set in LA. I think the author did an amazing job of taking the reader through Los Angeles. I fee like I know more about the city. than ever before after reading this. The pacing was a bit meh at times and sometimes the chemistry didn't feel believable, but overall an enjoyable read.

This book feels like a summer rom-com in the best way. Phoebe escapes a messy breakup in London and crashes at her sister’s fancy LA house. Her plan? Chill, recover, avoid feelings. What actually happens? She meets Ren, the very attractive (and very off-limits) neighbor her new friend Bel has a crush on… and accidentally starts falling for him herself.

It’s got sunshine, awkward flirting, and classic rom-com shenanigans—plus some genuinely sweet moments about friendship and figuring out what you actually want in life. Perfect for fans of the “oops I like him too” trope.

This book was written for you if:
1. You love a rom-com set under palm trees.
2. You’re into falling for the one person you’re *really not* supposed to.
3. You want a book that’s fun, flirty, and just a little messy—in a good way.

💗 Welp, I’m officially a @lindseykelk fan! Confession: I’ve had this book on my @netgalley since shortly after it came out in 2023 (thank you @harpercollins), but I was recently motivated to read it after reading and loving ‘The Christmas Wish’ by Kelk over the holidays! It immediately made me want to read more by her, and this one didn’t disappoint!

💗 This is one of those romances that literally had me laughing out loud multiple times. It was just fun and sweet and had all the elements I love…
- lovable MC’s
- fantastic setting
- great side characters
- fun plot
- LOL moments
- and a side of old Hollywood glam!

💗 This one has been out for a bit, but if you’ve been sleeping on it like me you should definitely check it out. I know I’ll be diving into more of Kelk’s backlist! Have you read any of her work? What’s your favorite?

Ahhh! I loved this!!! I think this might be my favorite Lindsey Kelk novel to date. I expected to be frustrated by the Cyrano de Bergerac storyline because I hate a lack of honesty or communication between couples, but the way Lindsey wrote this story was perfect! There was a building tension between Pheobe and Ren, that was so delicious, and I loved the way Phoebe and Bell supported each other. The nods to The Holiday were also so heartwarming and wonderful! I loved every minute of it!

3.5 stars. The romance was honestly the least interesting part of this book. With elements of The Holiday and Cyrano de Bergerac, the story of Englishwoman Phoebe coming to visit her sister in LA for two weeks was really about friendship, sisterhood, and finding yourself. Next door neighbor Ren is adorable and kind, with his obsessively nerdy birdwatching, but there’s a suspension of disbelief needed to accept that he and Phoebe are both willing to consider some huge life changes after only knowing each other half a month.

Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for the ARC to review. All opinions are my own.

Unfortunately I just couldn’t get into this story. I wanted to see where the romance went but all the other stuff wasn’t enough to keep me interested in the main character.
