Entertaining and well-narrated. A recommended purchase for collections where McFadden's previous titles are popular.

Happy publication day!
This was quite entertaining. Two women working together for a nutritional supplement company. One day one of them, Dawn, is missing. Her office "frenemy," the popular Natalie, is then involved in the investigation and search for Dawn. What follows is a past paced, twisted game of cat and mouse that makes the reader wonder who the victim is.
The book is face paced and an easy read, the ending however is too abrupt.
Thank you NetGally and Dreamscape Media for an early access.

Freida McFadden's books for me are always a hit. I don't always love them on audio however but I did like this one on audio! I actually did this on audio and digital because I absolutely could not put it down. I thought the way the narrator differentiated between character voices worked in this one.

Loved this one! I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was great! The characters were complicated, the mystery was twisty and lots of turns throughout. Author has written so many good ones, highly recommend!

Thank you to net galley, dreamscape media and Freida McFadden for the audiobook.
Enjoyed this so much. Freida McFadden never disappoints. Face paced. Highly recommend.

Freida writes another good one.
Dawn and Natalie are coworkers with nearby cubicles. Dawn is a bit obsessed with turtles. This makes her an oddity among some of the other staff. Dawn knows she is different and really just wants to be liked and have a close friend again.
When Dawn goes missing, Natalie is questioned and accused of bullying her.
Two unreliable narrators, two very different stories and lifestyles. Two different perspectives on what is right and wrong.
I felt badly for Dawn to feel like an outsider. As time went on, I did not feel sorry for Natalie.
The only thing I didn't really like was the email portions of the book.
I listened to the audio version of the book and enjoyed the narrator. I did have to pay close attention to know which character was speaking.
Thanks to netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the arc.

As usual with all Freida McFadden books, we are given a story that keeps us as the audience guessing! I have never read a Freida McFadden book where I guessed the ending correctly - and I am generally pretty good at guessing twists. But once again, I didn’t with this one and it made me love it that much more!
Dawn and Natalie are coworkers and when Dawn goes missing, everything points to Natalie as being the one that did something wrong. But is she just an innocent bystander? Or did Natalie have something to do with her disappearance?
There are so many players in this story that you will think are the one who did it. And you will most likely be wrong every time.
Definitely go into this book blind for the best experience!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
This book was a great thriller! I loved the multiple perspectives and how it framed up what the perpetrator wanted the reader to think. I think both Dawn and Natalie are utterly crazy and was awestruck by all that transpired in this book. Freida McFadden sure knows how to suck readers in and keep them on the edge of their seats.

Dawn is awkward, smart, punctual and loves her some turtles. She works as an accountant, and while she doesn't have many friends at work, she is dedicated to her job. She does a long time friend she corresponds with regularly.
Natalie is the Barbie of the office. She excels as a sales rep and everyone loves her.
One morning Dawn doesn't show up at work. Natalie receives an odd call. And then the action happens. Natalie is in a situation she can't seem to talk her way out of.
There were definitely some twists I did NOT see coming! Great read!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an ALC in exchange for my honest review.

4 star read
Freida McFadden has done it again - twists and turns no one sees coming!
Dawn is an accountant with a nutritional supplement company. She’s a little odd - she loves turtles and talks about them whenever she can - and struggles to fit in with others at work. Emailing long time friend Mia for advise she decides she really wants Natalie, the top seller in the company, to like her; everyone seems to like Natalie so if Natalie can like Dawn, maybe everyone else will too!
Natalie consistently has the best sales in the nutritional supplement company yet seems to have a large number of unhappy customers. Oh well - there are always new customers to win over! Natalie loves her boyfriend Caleb but loves herself more. Natalie will do whatever it takes to get what she deserves in life.
However, more than one person is keeping secrets and those secrets come to light when a coworker shows up dead, having been beaten to death.
If you enjoy thrillers with few likable characters and when the past catches up with the present, check this one out! It’s hard to go wrong when settling in with another novel from Freida so thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for allowing me the opportunity to listen to this ahead of its release in exchange for a candid review.

Who works in an office?
Do you always get along with your coworkers? Ever feel like k*lling someone?
Dawn is one of the coworkers, always on time, the socially awkward outsider who struggles with small talk but loves to talk about turtles.
Natalie sits next to Dawn. Natalie is the popular, bubbly, top sales rep who everyone loves.
When one of the coworkers doesn't come in to work it sparks the mystery that you know is going to trigger all the drama and tension.
A chunk of the story is told through email exchanges, it's got a slightly different flow to most of Freida's books...Then when the twists come it is pretty special.
Freida weaves an intricate web, this book isn't a race to the finish. Take a moment to breathe it in and appreciate the setup.
I raced to the finish the first time I read it, then listened to the audiobook, and I'm happy to admit I had a much better appreciation second time around. The setup, plotting and characterisation is spot on and well worth revisiting.
The audiobook narration is good, the email format perhaps isn't the natural ideal flow for audio but it still works well. The voice acting is good. Just like watching a film they don't always sound like you imagined but it's clears and flows nicely. I was very happy to listen and was kept entertained all the way through.
I'd go as far as to say the slower pace listening on audiobook as opposed to reading it quickly helped me appreciate the detail and intricacies more.
Another must read for Freida fans, sure to go straight to #1 and be one of Autumn's most talked about books.
Thank to Netgalley, Poisoned Pen Press and Freida McFadden.

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC. I’ve been seeing McFadden books pop up everywhere so I wanted to know what all the hype was about. I’ll admit I was quite impressed. The coworker was an entertaining read. A story about coworkers in an office filled with secrets. Dawn Schiff is strange. She’s very quiet and most of her coworkers agree that she’s an odd duck, mostly because all she talks about is turtles, which she collects. At this point I had to laugh because guess what? I’m 42 and also
collect turtles. I guess that makes me strange.
At any rate, Dawn is never late so when she doesn’t show up for work one day, the one coworker she has befriended, Natalie, grows worried. Natalie is the opposite of Dawn in every way; beautiful, popular, well liked by her colleagues; but she feels sorry for Dawn.
When Natalie finds a turtle on her desk and answers Dawn’s phone only to hear someone on the other end asking for help, she begins to suspect something terrible has happened to her coworker.
What follows is a series of events and twists that keep the reader wondering who is really at fault in this story…

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
Natalie’s coworker disappeared, and everyone is hiding something. This book was thrilling and captivating, characters and plot keeping me entertained and invested in the story. The twists were written well, although there might have been an excess. I would definitely recommend this, especially if you like a thrilling, twisty story you can’t put down.

Natalie and Dawn work together. One day Dawn doesn’t show up and receives a strange call at her desk that Natalie answered. Natalie then becomes worried and goes to her house to check for her when she finds a ton of blood. It’s clear to Natalie that something bad has happened. Natalie starts to believe that she is being framed for Dawn’s murder.
This book was a rollercoaster to find out what happened to Dawn. It had me so hooked from the beginning to the end.

3.5 Stars
I am a big Freida McFadden fan and was so excited for her new release. This one was good, but it was just not my favorite. I just finished a five star read from her though, so I was expecting a lot with this one.
This started off a little slow for me. It was still a fast read and I finished it in one day. However; her books normally grab me from the first page/chapter and this took a little longer for me to be invested into the story. It was dealing with bullying which is a trope that I do not normally love, so it may be more so a me thing on this one.
McFadden is one of those authors who normally can get me with the twist. This one was the same where I did not see it all coming together like it did, but for some reason I also felt underwhelmed with it all.
So, did I like this? Yes, just not as much as I wanted too based on I love the other books I have read from her.
Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced audio copy.

My favorite McFadden book so far. Two unreliable female MCs keep me guessing to the end.
Dawn Shiff in accounting is obsessed with turtles, a little odd and a bit OCD. Dawn is always at her desk at 8:45 a.m. until the day she isn't. No one knows her whereabouts. This is very out of character for her. When Dawn's phone rings, Natalie Farrell, the pretty sales rep answers it and hears "Help me!" before the line goes dead.
The Coworker is told in two parts. The first part is good at getting to know the characters. I enjoy the back-and-forth email exchanges that reveal their personalities. In the second half, I couldn't listen fast enough. A body. A suspect. The past. I need answers!
This is my third book by McFadden and I'm glad the author didn't include a dumb/naive MC this time around. The story is well paced so it was a pretty good popcorn thriller in my opinion.
I enjoyed listening to Alyson Krawchuk performance but I thought the voices of the two MCs were a bit difficult to tell apart. (I can hear the pages turning and some other noises. Hopefully, the final edition will be better.) 3.5⭐
Thank you Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for my ALC.

My new favorite of all Freida’s! This one kept me guessing for sure when it came to who we could truly trust. The ending really solidified this one as a 4.50 star read. It was so good! I highly recommend this one if you aren’t a fan of theirs already.

I am so thankful to Dreamscape Media for providing a copy of the audiobook arc of Freida's newest book The Coworker. I am glad that this is not Leslie Howard narrating, as two of Freida's other books that I had listened to used her and it was becoming difficult to imagine the characters as different people, so I am glad to hear a different narrator. As for the story I don't think this was my favorite read. I also am just not sure Freida has been the best with representing neuro-divergent minds (thinking back to Ward D). I just didn't really connect with story this time around. I know that many people will enjoy, but this just wasn't for me. I am so grateful for the chance to have listened to this in advance. I know this book will have an audience.

Dawn Schiff is an awkward loner that doesn’t have any friends. When she doesn’t show up to work one day, popular Natalie Farrell is worried. Natalie tries to investigate the missing person herself and ends up making herself the main suspect.
This was a good thriller. It kept me on my toes and wanting to keep listening. I found parts of the story predictable. And not being a thriller girl myself and predicting what would happen doesn’t seem that exciting of a story. This was my first book my Freida McFadden and her writing was great. She does a great job taking you step by step and making you think one thing and unveiling another. The narration was good. There wasn’t any voice changes for the characters. So you had to be sure you knew who was speaking based on the content of the book. This was a quick and easy thriller if that’s what you’re looking for.
I’d like to thank NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to listen to this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

COMING SOON!!
We love Freida. She is a thriller queen! This book was not my favorite, and that’s okay! I just don’t think the writing style and myself matched up on this one.
This book follows two coworkers, Dawn and Natalie. I don’t believe it was ever stated, but it was insinuated that Dawn was on the spectrum. When Dawn does not show up for work one day, her coworker Natalie goes looking for her. Natalie insists she was always kind to Dawn when maybe some other coworkers were not. This also follows Dawn retelling her stories via email to a friend of Natalie bullying her. Which is the truth? Will they find Dawn?
Overall, I just didn’t love this one. I didn’t vibe with the characters. It is twisted as Freida usually nails, but this one felt predictable. The ending was blah. It wasn’t for me but I know it will get a lot of love!
Thank you to the author, NetGalley, and Poisoned Pen Press for the ALC of this book!
