Dark, twisted, and spooky (it’s not the cold weather sending chills down my spine tonight). My first thought when reading the blurb was the Slenderman stabbing, or even some of the crime shows I watch when kids are the culprit. But this ended up so much more dark and twisted, and I loved every moment of it. The way Charm can switch so easily between her attitude and personality, is astounding, and really gives you insight into her character as a whole. The real story that we get to see, in between the glimpses of Charm’s very sanitized statement, is pure nightmare fuel. Although these are just kids, it really makes you wonder how well you really know the people in your life, and how many are secretly like Charm, while presenting a kind and sweet face to the world. Cannot recommend enough for horror lovers that don’t mind a bit of gore!

The twist and turns this story takes I never saw coming. I can not wait for more books from author

After saving a middle school classmate from a grisly fate at the hands of her best friend and their new friend, Charmane “Charm” Wilson is called upon by law enforcement to give her formal statement regarding the horrific events that unfolded.

All she has to do is tell the truth. Something that is easier said than done because Charm isn’t quite the hero that those around her believe her to be…

Told in a non-linear fashion, from start to finish, Violent Nights was utterly engrossing. Once I started reading, I couldn’t stop until I had completely finished the novel. The story never seemed to drag and each chapter left me eager to read more. It was unsettling, atmospheric and also reminded me of a recent true crime case involving children.

The idea of this was great and initially what drew me in. There was such an overl9ad of character introductions right at the beginning and it was difficult for me to grasp and follow. I was unable to finish this book.

I was thoroughly interested in the book as it seemed like a dark romance that would be right up my alley. For some reason, however, I was slightly disapppointed.

"Violent Nights" has an intriguing premise but falters in execution. The graphic violence and profanity felt excessive, overshadowing the story's potential. Inconsistent plotting and underdeveloped characters made it hard to stay engaged. Overall, it’s a disappointing read that relies too much on shock value.

I was all over the place with this book and all good ways! It kept me intrigued and wondering what was actually happening! The ending was so unexpected and twisted that I couldn't contain from a physical gasps! Through the whole story I was wondering if Charm was honest and empathic or was she the truly twisted!

This book took me on a wild ride I was not anticipating.

Thrillers typically are not my go-to genre, as I usually find them overly predictable and prone to excessive elements. However, this book was a refreshing change of pace. It offers plenty of violence and bloodshed to satisfy both horror readers like myself and thriller enthusiasts seeking a more intense read.

That being said, it did have some clunky dialogue, which is to be expected with a debut, in my opinion.

And the "teenagers" we follow felt more like pre-teens, and their actions often seemed juvenile and nonsensical.

I would highly recommend this book to those who want just a little bit more out of their thrillers.

Although this was definitely a YA read, it was an interesting one! It was a very quick read that should be able to be finished within a couple of hours. It wasn’t my favorite book, but it was a good pallet cleanser from my normal genre of books! Thank you #NetGalley for allowing me to read this ARC.

This book started me down a path but ended in a very different conclusion. I love the way the book was set up with chapters that were broken down by time frame and told by the Charm as the narrator then led to the truth as the story continues and pieces of the story falls apart and the real story is revealed.

The character development was well done through the eyes of Charm and made more sense as you read along. The way the reader is given tidbits about Charm throughout the book and then it all comes together in the end. I bought into the misleading “truth” given by Charm until it became clearer. Looking back I should have realized that the book stolen from the library had a connection as well as the lady who had taken care of her as well as her mother.

The way that it all ties together in the end was well done. The reason for Billy’s death seemed juvenile but when you are talking about 12/13 year olds it fit as well as 2 out cast friends becoming a pack- I believe some jealousy was at play here as well as cheerleader friend who was moving on. I think that Charm was telling HER truth through the other characters instead of theirs.

I think this is a great read and my only complaint is the length - I wanted more!! Thank you NetGalley & Ryan Howard for an ARC in return for my review! Keep Reading and find your next adventure through books!

2.0/5.0

A quick and easy read but unfortunately I found the narration by main character Charm very annoying and all over the place.

I picked this up for a shorter horror read. Seeing it as YA, I was expecting maybe Goosebumps or Fear Street. It didn't really meet that expectation. It was still a wild ride; pretty gruesome near the end. I think the level of killing may be a little over YA. It was entertaining, but just not as fun as I had hoped. I believe it was the way the events were laid out. It felt very repetitive in spots and for being such a short novel, I ended up wanting to skim the repeat conversations.

This is a quick and enjoyable read. Couldn’t help being reminded of the slenderman killing while reading this, but it definitely takes a turn from that and has its own surprises.

Would definitely read more from this author!

Such a great story for a younger reader. I feel like this would be a book that I would’ve enjoyed a lot when I was in middle school. The story has so many dark twist, and turns with a Moody atmosphere that I really enjoyed.

Dark, creepy , as well as Erie, the type of story that I would read on a dark stormy night and I can't sleep, which is what I did .

When Tarinda was browsing the True Crime books at the local library while ditching summer school she met Maggie lynn another eighth grader who was so happy to meet yet another girl who liked TC.She told TarinDa she couldn’t wait to introduce her to her friend Charmaine as they have been looking for a third to complete the triangle but for what? It is the what of the story that first blew my mind it is toll from two different points of view the vent while it’s happening and then go to survive the event explaining what happened but are they telling the truth and what consequences do the laws bring? This book is phenomenal and I do mean that in every sense of the word any preconceived notion‘s of thriller endings you may have throw them out the window because you have never seen an ending like this one. Not only was I captivated by this awesome story and the authors storytelling but once things started going haywire at the end I was just left amazed. This was a great book and one book I definitely definitely recommend to any YA fan. With the authors great storytelling and the whopper of a story I don’t believe any true fan will be disappointed this is a really good book! A definite five star read! Please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A crime thriller that I actually enjoyed reading. The author did an amazing job with the turn of event in the story.

Charm is a middle school kid with a sick family history. She also has a friend with the same twisted hobbies that she has and all they really want to do is cause trouble. I would assume the story is set in the times of today, but the author did not provide any indication of where time period the story takes place.

The authors writing style is clever with the twist and turns in the plot. This really makes the reader try to figure out what's going to happen next. With the culprits being children, one would think how bad could this so called murder actually be.

Great story to read for the crime and thriller enthusiasts. I gave this title 4 star rating because I am one to look at the table of contents, and how the chapters were planned out were a bit confusing.

Violent Nights is a dark and bloody popcorn horror story. It’s a very fast paced read. Once the action starts it doesn’t let up. The baseline of this story is from a very popular true crime murder. If you are looking for a quick read try this one out.
