“Sex Ed,” by Kristen Bailey was an absolute Banger of a book; (yes, pun intended!) Thank you to NetGalley for sharing a complimentary arc to me in exchange for my unbiased review of this novel.

I absolutely loved this book and the relationship between the two bff’s Mia and Ed. Ed is a 28 year old science teacher whose cat is his main companion He’s lonely and as a bachelor virgin he’s been waiting patiently to one day lose his virginity. Mia, is an English teacher and after the death of her mom she has never wanted to feel alone, swiping right is her way to deal with that loneliness. Sex to her just isn’t that big of a deal. Mia is open and comfortable talking about her sex life and almost anything else that makes Ed squirm with uncomfortableness. One day in the staff break room a new teacher named Caitlin arrives and bff Mia notices that Ed is acting like a complete weirdo. Mia gets to the bottom of the weirdness and finds out that Ed is a 28 year old virgin who has a crush on Caitlin but without any sex experience how can he ask her out? Mia has the answer; she’ll teach and train him to know and learn all about sex, this way he’ll be able to ask Caitlin out and be confident about himself. Thus begins the Sex Education of Ed, and the test of a friendship that is more important than either of them ever imagined. Can Ed and Mia have a sexual relationship without anything else happening?
This story was a fun and entertaining listen. I completed listening to it in one day and was sad to see Mia and Ed leave my life. Miss Baileys writing was excellent! This was my first book of hers and I have already purchased a couple others since listening to this one! The characters had interesting arcs that played out so beautifully. The cast of characters and all their narratives melded so smoothly into the arc and the fabric of the book. While the plot was fairly obvious and the ending was easy to figure out the story kept me reading and the ending made me want more! I’d really love a sequel to find out more about these two adorable people! 5.0 ⭐️

Sex Ed was an excellent romance. I loved the characters, who were so well thought out. Their friendship was so sweet, and endearing. But their blooming into love was even better! This is definitely my kind of romance, with spice, witty banter, clever twists, and well developed characters.

P.S. - I loved the ending! And the cat!

I listened to the audiobook. I listened at 1.5x speed (my normal is 1.75x speed). The narrator did the story justice, and was great to listen to. I only wish that the male POV had been read by a different narrator so I could better differentiate the POVs.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this advanced audio copy.

I haven't laughed like this at a book...well, ever. Hilarious just doesn't cover it. Their banter and the all-too real approach to first time sex is truly heartwarming.

Finding out that her best friend and colleague, Ed, is a virgin at 28, Mia takes it upon herself to help teach him about sex and intimacy to 1. Help Ed get laid for the first time and 2. Help womankind by sending a man who knows how to please a woman out into the world.

Mia's non-judgmental approach to the situation and the sincerity of how determined Ed is to learn everything he can from her is just so sweet and charming. I loved how their friendship develops throughout and Ed's slow gaining of confidence. Mia's the best cheerleader for everyone around her and the perfect foil for Ed, who is regimented and always by-the-book.

Thank you to the author and NetGalley for an ARC of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review!

This book was not at all what I expected. This was a fun listen and I enjoyed getting to know Ed and Mia.
However, this book desperately called for two narrators. I was getting so frustrated not knowing who the narrator was at times and would have to rewind. Although Harrie Dobby was a great narrator for Mia, we really needed a deeper voice for Ed to make his character shine.

Thank you Storm Books, Dreamscape Media, and Netgalley for the audio ARC of this novel.

This is a cute, light-hearted story. I enjoyed Mia and Ed's dual POV and their witty banter. Ed has to overcome a lot, but I loved the dynamic between these polar opposites. My only criticism would be since it is written in a dual POV - I would have preferred dual narration. At times it got a bit confusing given the same narrator for both Mia and Ed. Overall it was a cute book.

This was a cute book. It wasn't necessarily an original concept but it was done quite well.

Mia and Ed have been friends for years - - ever since they began teaching together years before. And that's it - - they're friends....just friends. Of course they could never be more than friends, right? Until one day it seems that maybe they could be and it confuses everything.

A very well-done and inventive friends to lovers with a few small twists along the way.

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW: The narration was done well. It was an enjoyable audiobook that kept my attention. 4 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. I voluntarily chose to read and review it and the opinions contained within are my own.

Mia and Ed are coworkers and friends, working at the same high school. However, they could not be more different. Mia is a free-spirit that doesn't like to adhere to rules, while Ed is always buttoned up and never toes the line. They have an easy-going friendship, and one of the nights Ed drunkenly discloses that he is still a virgin. So when a new love interest shows up as the new Math teacher, Mia decides she needs to be Ed's new Sex Ed instructor.

This was a very cute, very funny Romantic Comedy. There are some slightly graphic scenes in the book, but they maintain a "light" feeling to them. In other words it is only slightly smut.

The narration was enjoyable, and easy to listen to. I would certainly recommend this to anyone looking for their next light-hearted romance novel.

Can someone explain to me how Kristen always manages to write such hilarious books?! Every single one of them has had me in stitches, and I expected no less from this one, and boy was this one possibly my favourite (which I didn't think was possible after Great expectations last year). Ed is such a sweet little muffin while Mia is an absolute laugh riot.
Between the moments of sweet friendship and steamy romance we have a cast of characters that are just trying to navigate their lives and grow as individuals. All of the characters were related and very realistic, and quite honestly I'd love to be friends with Mia.
If you're a lover of sex positive romcoms that will make you laugh so hard you cry, and have characters that are as relatable as they are flawed, then you'll love Kristen's books.

I really enjoyed this book! I think the characters are endearing and I love an opposites attract trope! I laughed out loud several times and definitely felt some second hand embarrassment from some of Ed’s interactions! I wish there were different narrators for the MCs because it was hard to follow whose point of view it was, if I had taken a break from listening. This definitely is spicy!

Many thanks to NetGalley, Storm Publishing and Dreamscape Media for gifting me an audio ARC of this hilarious rom-com by Kristen Bailey, narrated by Harrie Dobby - 4.5 stars!

Mia and Ed have been best friends since they started teaching at the same school. When Ed tells Mia his secret - he's still a virgin at 28 - Mia decides to teach him the skills he needs to win the heart of another teacher, Caitlin. Ed is a quick study and soon is dating Caitlin. But is he the right woman for Ed?

This was such a funny, laugh-out-loud rom-com with the perfect title. Who cares that it was somewhat predictable - it was sweet, funny, full of lots of sex talk? But it's also a sweet tale of friendship, loyalty, and love with relatable characters that you'll be rooting for. I liked the narration but would have preferred a male narrator for Ed and other male characters for ease in listening. Loved the cover too!

Thank you to NetGalley and Storm publishing for allowing me the opportunity to listen to Sex Ed.

First let me warn you, never listen to this book in public or in the car with your window down! The looks I got from laughing so hard while others driving by hearing snippets of this book will be the highlight of my week. This book was hilarious and I definitely have second hand embarrassment for poor ED in a couple scenarios he was put in.

I was highly entertained by this book and ended up listening to it in two days, which for me is a great feat. The opposite attract trope was a perfect match for Mia and Ed and I enjoyed how their relationship evolved from “friends with teaching benefits” to something more. If Kristen Bailey’s books are always this much fun, I will be reading all of her books.

This was cute!
I would, however, recommend reading it with your eyes as the audio can be hard to follow. The female narrator doing both Mia and Ed's POV can get confusing because her voice is similar for both.
That aside, the book is good. It has great humor.
I love how patient Mia is when showing Ed the ropes. Their friendship and the way they felt so at ease with each other didn't feel awkward to me at all.

I really thought I wasn’t going to end up liking this book about 10% of the way through. But then I got invested in the characters and I did end up enjoying this.

The storyline was a little predictable but still fun. For as much talk about sex that happens in this book, the spice level is pretty low.

The queen of rom-com does it again! I started the ebook and then was lucky to get it on audio also and both formats are just deadly and the laughs were mighty 🤣. It wasn’t usual to hear me randomly bursting out laughing going about my jobs. Loved Ed and Mia and their whole relationship and banter. Mia is definitely an acquired taste but I found her really lovable and as for Ed he’s just a dote. I can’t even begin to think where Bailey gets her storyline ideas from but keep them coming as they’re definitely unique and entertaining. If you’re looking for a light hearted, funny and entertaining read then any of Kristen Baileys books will give you all of the above. The Callaghan Sisters series is definitely a favourite along with this one.

Thanks to Kristen Bailey, Netgalley and Storm Publishing for the opportunity to read/listen and review #SexEd

Warning: don’t read or listen to this book while eating or drinking, unless you wish to choke on a fit of giggles 😂😂 Also don’t listen to it unless you wish for your inner voice to assume a British accent for the foreseeable future. Seriously, my thoughts are now narrated by Harrie Dobby! 😂

Sex Ed is a hilarious, heartwarming and super sex-positive romcom about two best friends — Mia and Ed. Mia is a free spirit: wonderfully messy, hilariously unlucky in love, but also a kind and caring friend. Ed is her polar opposite: organised, a little uptight, anxious, but also infinitely curious and caring. From the moment they met, when they started their teaching jobs in the same school, Mia and Ed knew they won’t be a good fit romantically, but that didn’t stop them from becoming the best of friends.
One drunken night, Ed confesses to Mia that he is still a virgin, and Mia, a great friend that she is, offers Ed sex lessons, and Ed surprisingly agreed.

I loved just about everything about this book! I’m afraid I won’t have enough space in my caption to describe all my feelings 🩷
I loved how open and curious and non-judgemental Mia and Ed were about each other’s sexual experiences. How easy it was between them. The lessons scenes were so funny and yet so so hot 🥵 I’m a sucker for the “teach me” trope, and this book delivered on it in such a surprising way! Even with all the awkwardness and silliness, the chemistry was off the charts, probably because of the deep emotional connection between Ed and Mia. They way they took care of each other and defended each other was so adorable 🥰 And on their own, the characters were well fleshed out through their relationships with their families and their students.

The writing, oh the writing! It’s witty, and heartfelt, and so so funny. Honestly, I’m so jealous; if I ever manage to write like that, to elicit the same emotions, my life mission will be fulfilled 😂😂 Each character’s inner monologue is unique and wonderful in its own way. Through the course of the story they both grow but also stay themselves, because they already worked together so well.

As it’s a romcom, there was a “villain” in the story. I usually prefer my romance more subtle, but I didn’t mind it here, as it brought on some hilarious situations and drama.

I adored each and every character, and I sincerely hope to read Rachel’s story next — she deserves her own HEA!

I know I’m asking a lot, but I’d really enjoy this story as a movie. We need more sex-positive movies and tv shows. In fact, I kept picturing Aimee from Sex Education as Mia, I wonder if this character (her grownup version) was the inspiration behind Mia.

In total, I am in love with this book, and I’m putting everything else Kristen Bailey has ever written on my tbr 🤩 as well as researching everything Harrie Dobby has ever narrated, I need more of that magical voice 😍

Rating:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️( it was a bit awkward at times but somehow worked so well for me. Consent and openness are hot!)
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️( honestly it might be my favourite of the year, definitely a favourite romcom!)

I’m so happy I requested this book from #netgalley on a whim! 😂 This is my unhinged but honest review.

I just finished this on audiobook! As the story I absolutely enjoyed the plot! I liked that this was such a fun romcom with vulnerability. I loved Mia as Ed's relationship as she was his sex ed tutor. You can definitely see where the story line was going, but it was enjoyable all the same!

As far as the audiobook the narrator wasn't my favorite. I feel like this would be a great book with Ed being narrated by a man. It could help with the contrast of the story. The narrator didn't do well with male voices. However, I still wanted to continue to listen, because I enjoyed the story so much!

Updating after rec'ing an ALC of this book. I enjoyed it the second time around. Harrie Dobby did a really good job at narrating.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to listen to and review this book!

I enjoyed this one a lot! I wasn't sure how I would feel about a MC who wasn't dominant but Kristen Bailey nailed this book. Best friends to lovers with a virgin MMC who isn't an annoying push-over! WELL DONE! I adore Ed honestly because he is so genuine.

Ed and Mia teach at the same school and started at the same time. Even though they're absolute opposites, he is quiet/reserved/tidy and she is loud/outgoing/messy, they become very good friends. One night when Mia finds out that Ed is more than just quiet and reserved, he's actually a virgin, she offers to help him get out of his own head so he can make a move on the new math teacher at school. Can you see where this is going? You definitely want to give this one a read.

I really enjoyed this fun, banter filled best friends to lovers book! Ed and Mia couldn't be more different, but that made their friendship so much fun. Ed was a bit of a stick in the mud to Mia's outgoing holds no barre attitude, but somehow they worked. And when Mia finds out that Ed is still a virgin, she offers to give him intimacy lessons to help him get comfortable before going after his crush.

We definitely go through all the feels with these two from their highs to their lows. I loved Mia's character and I felt that things that happened to her were unfair, but in the end, she got her HEA. She was definitely the star of this book!

If you are looking for a light read with some funny bits, this is the book for you!

Despite being opposites, Mia and Ed have been best friends since they started working at the same school. Mia teaches English, is deeply spontaneous, chaotic, drinks too much, doesn’t take care of herself as much as she should, and loves sex. Ed teaches science, is detail oriented and methodical, loves to bake, and cares for Mia when she drinks too much. He is also a virgin, a secret he had told no one until one drunk night with Mia. Mia decides that she should teach Ed about sex to prepare him to ask out Caitlin, the new teacher at school. As Mia educates Ed, their friendship deepens, and their connection grows. When Ed starts dating Caitlin, Mia worries she isn’t who she appears to be, but is it because of Caitlin or her growing feelings for Ed? Bundle in complicated families, meddling co-workers, and unpredictable students; it is a winner.

This book is sweet, fun, and FUNNY! Ed and Mia’s friendship is both wacky and tender, and his earnestness in the sex ed process is adorable. Although sex is obviously a core component of the book, there is nothing overly graphic, but there is discussion of toys and porn. The audio narration is excellent, with great pacing and voices.

Thanks to Net Galley, Storm Publishing, Kristen Bailey, and Dreamscape Audio, for the opportunity to listen to the audiobook format before the 7/21/2023 release date in exchange for an honest review. The print version is available now.
