Fabulous book! Lots of secrets, emotions, and a sleepless night! I wanted to cheer, I got mad, sad and happy all in one chapter! Never knew what emotions would arise. Then a major twist at the end!

Wow. This was my first book of Sally Hepworth's and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I truly believed that I had figured out the ending and yet, not so much! As a professional in the child welfare world, this book stuck in my heart. You hear (and live) horror stories and the way these girls' stories were told and honored really struck a chord with me. I can certainly see room for a sequel! *hint hint* and I definitely recommend this. Another fantastic thriller from Sally Hepworth! This book had me hooked from beginning to end and I loved all of it. I loved the bond between the sisters and loved each one of their POVs. Definitely recommend this one!

This was my first Sally Hepworth book but it certainly won’t be my last! I was hooked from the moment I started reading! I love a good mystery thriller and this book had me gusssing till the very end! I can’t wait to read more books by this author and was so grateful to be chosen to read the ARC!

This book did not disappoint! What a wild ride! Darling Girls was a dark and twisty emotional thriller. I was constantly wondering what was going to happen next and I loved it. I love that edge of your seat feeling! The characters were great and I loved the dual timelines and povs. I was truly SHOCKED with the ending WOW!

Sally Hepworth is an “immediate read” author for me. She did it again! This book is centered around three young women who grew up in an awful foster home that bonds them for life. There are twists and turns and disturbing moments as their stories unfold. Each chapter reveals something more about the girl's backgrounds, as well as their young foster mother. Wildly intriguing, remarkable work!

What a heartbreaking novel! This tells the story of three girls that were in the care of Miss Fairchild, an abusive foster parent, in their early teens. When a body of a child is discovered under the foster home years later, the girls are forced to relive their memories of the years in Miss Fairchild’s care. It was a great psychological mystery, as all of Sally Hepworth’s novels are. I will say, this was really uncomfortable to read. I’m not bothered by much, but I have found that child abuse in novels is tough for me to read. The girls, Jessica, Norah, and Alicia are resilient, though, and find their own coping mechanisms and make it into adulthood, building their own lives. I have yet to find a Hepworth novel that I dislike. I’m excited to read the rest of her back catalogue.

Could not put this one down!

Darling Girls tells the story of Jessica, Alicia, and Norah- three “sisters” who deeply bonded as children placed in the same foster home. And what a foster home it was! We also get to meet Miss Fairchild who we know from the beginning is not who she appears to be- but keeps us guessing through the entire book to find out what that means!

The story starts in the present day when human bones are discovered at the site of their former foster home - Meadows Hills- leaving everyone wondering who they belonged to.

The story shifts between the past and the present- which allows us to really get to know the three girls and the women they become.

Sally Hepworth does an amazing job writing both a fascinating plot and characters. Lots of twists and turns- kept me on the edge of my seat. Could not put it down until I reached the very end!

This book was not the easiest read for me. What the girls experienced in their foster care situations and how that impacted their adult relationships was heartbreaking and also fascinating. I typically read happier genres of books as well, so wasn’t used to the underlying sense of creepiness that stayed with me the entire time. But I suspect that is what others enjoy (and I kind of did too!). I had to skip part of my workday to race to the finish line!

Sally Hepworth is a masterful story teller and has become one of my favorite authors. I’ve still never been able to predict exactly how the story will end! She has a unique ability to really make you understand each of her characters from their perspectives (even when the character is completely nuts!), and Darling Girls was just as fabulous as her other books! I especially loved how Jessica, Norah and Alicia became a family in the midst of their traumatic circumstances.

This book was much darker than I had anticipated — TW: child abuse, neglect and sexual abuse.

Jessica, Norah and Alicia grew up in a foster home together and have been bonded for life. The book unfolds with alternating POVs from both past and present from all three sisters.

Human remains are found under the house of their foster mother and they’re brought in by police to learn more about their time living there.

I definitely was drawn in quite quickly and finished this in one sitting but I found it so disturbing and sad.

The end was very shocking and something I wasn’t expecting! Love Sally Hepworth’s writing and books — if you’re a fan of psychological thrillers this should definitely be on your TBR!!

3.5 rounded up. On any given day it could be rounded up or down though.

It was like. Some parts were love. But because it ended on a like note, I might only be rounded up because I like Hepworth. Whether that’s fair or not… it is what it is.

I really enjoyed the past storyline and the basis for the present day swirl of activity but this isn’t a five star read for me mainly because there was no climax - the past storyline kept adding girls to the story and the present day the girls just stayed steady with their own personal issues but nothing grand, wow popping, or dramatic even happened. Something comes up worth the foster mother near end but when I realized I was nearing the finish line since it was an e-read, I was like what? There’s only 10% left to go? I guess that’s good in that it was a quick read, but it felt lackluster.

Also, part of the problem is that I had a wild crazy suspicion that there was going to be another different kind of twist with one of the girls that I kept looking for but when I realized that really wouldn’t be feasible I was let down by myself. Ha

While I definitely will reach for the next Hepworth book, this one was good, not great.

Sally Hepworth strike again!! Oh my goodness this was excellent. Very different from others I’ve read by her, but I truly love the direction this went. The multiPOV/dual timeline worked really well for this. I was racing through this trying to get to the end. I wasn’t expecting so many twists!

Darling Girls was an excellent story. I love stories that deeply involve the psyches of it's characters. I love it even more when its thrilling and unputdownable. Darling Girls was top notch in both respects. Sally Hepworth never fails to write a page turner. Love it! 100% recommend!

Very typical for Sally Hepworth, entertaining , twisty and unpredicatable.
We follow the story of "sisters" who met as children when they were fostered by the same woman. A body is found at the house they grew up in and they must all return to the scene of the crime. Secrets are revealed and red herrings placed! I enjoyed this mystery which took us back and forth through time. The characters were well developed and I had my favorites as well as those I wanted to punch out.
A quick read and good for any mystery lover!

Three “sisters” are called after human bones are found under the home they lived in as foster children, called Wild Meadows. Alternating between each character AND past/present, the reader gets to see the challenging life these girls lived while under the care of their foster mother at Wild Meadows, how these experiences have shaped who they are as adults, all while working to figure out the mystery of who the bones belong to.

After being introduced to Sally Hepworth last year, I was really excited to gain access to Darling Girls. While the premise is not a bad one, there was something about this book that I couldn’t get into. Normally in books like this, I form more of an emotional attachment to the characters, especially after learning about their childhood, that makes me want to keep reading, to keep learning about what happens to them. I couldn’t form any attachments to these characters. I also wasn’t surprised by most of the twists and turns in the book, which also didn’t help me stay invested.

In my opinion, predictability in a thriller is what determines if one will ultimately like the book or not. I’m giving this book 3 stars because while I guessed most of what was going to happen in this book, I don’t think all readers will. If you can stay surprised as you read, I think Ms. Hepworth’s writing ability will not disappoint.

Darling Girls follows Jessica, Norah and Alice who grew up in foster care. None of the girls knew each other before they were in foster care. But they became a family after bonding over their foster mother Miss. Fairchild. Miss Fairchild was not a good foster mother. When they girls grew up they though they had finally moved on from Miss Fairchild. But a body is soon discovered under Miss Fairchild's house and the girls are the key witnesses. But they might end up being the prime suspects. Will the truth come out?

Sally Hepworth is very hit or miss for me. The past two books I have read by her I did not like ( The Younger Wife and The Soulmate). But this book oh my gosh it was really good. I had no idea what direction this was going to go in. I will say this book did feel a little repetitive at times. I also felt like there were some parts of the plot that really were not necessary. But than that is was a really good thriller. It felt similar to other books I have read but also different. I would highly suggest this one.

Wow!! I was hooked from the very beginning. I took a strong interest in all the characters. And let me tell you! It was one twist after another, but when I read the last couple paragraphs , my draw hit the floor. I stood in silence for several seconds trying to process what had just happened! Amazing! Anything Sally Hepworth writes is going on my TBR immediately! She is just amazing. This story sucked me in from the first few pages.

A psychological thriller? Resilient characters that deal with unresolved trauma? Shocking ending? What more is there to ask for in a thriller!! I love a good multiple POV book with a dual timeline. The three foster sisters in Darling Girls were captivating and I enjoyed reading about such a resilient characters. The bond that they formed over time and in the face of adversity and challenges was very empowering to read about. The amount of twists Sally incorporated into this book are perfect and kept my attention the entire time and of course I thought I had the ending figured out but was completely wrong.

Overall I rate Darling Girls 4 bright stars! I look forward to reading what Sally Hepworth will be cooking up in the future. Thank you so much for the ARC.

Now that I've picked my jaw up off of the floor after that ending I can write a quick review of Darling Girls. You get three women who grew up together at the same foster home 25 years ago and think of themselves as sisters (definite trauma bond!). They each contribute to the dual timeline narrative with their own chapters. Pacing is steady from the first page and will keep your attention until the final few pages when you might scream or shout a few expletives!
