Jessica, Norah and Alicia have an incredible bond; spending several years years in the foster care of Miss Fairchild. The girls have endured more than any child should and consider themselves sisters in every sense of the word. This story bounces back to their foster care days to the present day which is 25 years later when a body is found under the place they spent too many years.

I loved the girls camaraderie and their unbreakable bond. This was a great book which I highly recommend.

Thank you NetGalley for providing me a copy of this to read.

i loved this from the very first page! the three main characters were unique and individual, i loved their relationship with each other. it has so many of my favourite tropes; multiple povs, past/present timelines, unreliable narrators. sally hepworth is definitely becoming one of my favourite authors when i need a good thriller, highly recommend!

tw: abuse (physical, sexual, substance)

thanks to netgalley for my copy of darling girls by sally hepworth. all opinions are my own.

This was a slow burn thriller. The twist was near the end and I almost predicted it correctly. The very last chapter was the most shocking !

I want to first thank Netgally and St. Martin's Press for giving me the opportunity to read this as an early release. With that being said, the review and opinions are all mine.

Now that that is out of the way, let's chat about this book!

Whoaaaaa. Darling Girls is a whirlwind. My head is still spinning, my stomach is churning and I'm trying to process what I just consumed throughout these pages over the last few days.

Synopsis: Wild Meadows is run by Holly Fairchild, or as the girls call, Miss Fairchild. Jessica, Norah and Alicia have shown up to live at Wild Meadows all for different reasons but grow an instant bond and sisterhood and learn to survive the nightmare of their foster home. Miss Fairchild has rules and if you cross her she will use your biggest fear against you as punishment. After years of torture they were able to free themselves, however, their memories of what went on never escaped them. Wanting to never step back on those grounds, bones are discovered under the house and an investigation is underway and they need the three girls help to uncover some gritty details.

The story is told from each girls point of view during the present and past. I loved this storytelling and learning about each character in the then and now. Each voice was heard loud and clear and I loved how raw their stories were.

Jessica was the first to arrive at Wild Meadows. She is now married with OCE and is a closeted pill popper.

Norah arrives to the home second and has some aggressive issues, then and now but she is true blue to a fault.

Alicia is last to the group and has very little self-esteem but is the perfect addition.

This book is sad. The girls lives are sad. Before living in Wild Meadows and during their time there. At times I wanted to look away. I felt uncomfortable and it was depressing. But the detail made me feel HARD for each of them.

I loved each girl and was rooting for them the entire time. (Loved them all coming out on top at the end!)

With every unraveling detail I needed to know more. I kept trying to piece it together but I didn't see it coming.

There were a few slow parts for me in the middle but overall, Darling Girls was a thrilling rollercoaster with so many unseen turns.

This would be a great audio to listen to!

Highly recommend this one. I was completely intrigued with the plot and needed to see how it ended. I cannot wait for this one to come out for everyone to enjoy. I'll be adding the physical copy to my collection.

Thank you to Netgalley and St Martins Press for the opportunity for this ARC! In short- I devoured this book. It was such a good thriller- the story was unique, twisty but with a lot of great characters and good character development. I really liked the ending as well as the stories across all the sisters. It’s a wild ride but I highly recommend!

I really struggled reading this book, the content was just so dark. The book was very well written and so engaging! I wanted to continue reading to see what would happen next, but also had to put the book down because I couldn't stand it at points.

Reading about physical and emotional child abuse is torturous. Especially for the neediest children in foster care who have no one in their corner advocating for them. Reading about the abuse from "trusted" adults was beyond heartbreaking and difficult to read about. Reading is an escape for me and my favorite form of entertainment and enjoyment. This book was just not my choice of topic.

Thanks to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of the ebook.

An overall interesting book! I wouldn't say it was crazy gripping or anything of the like, but it was captivating enough and read almost more like a drama than a thriller.

This book was much better than her previous book called "The Soulmate". The plot was well done and the back and forth time jump narratives provided an element of suspense. However, this book isn't a "thriller". It is most certainly captivating and a good page turner but not a bone-chilling thriller. Some dialogues and coincidence-type events can be definitely improved. All in all I enjoyed this book. Would recommend!

Special thanks to the publisher for my net galley copy of this one.
I loved this book, a page turner for sure. And in true Sally fashion there’s a final twist that I don’t think you will see coming.
The book follows 3 girls who are sisters by every means that matter having grown up in foster care with a wicked foster mom. I also love a good pov chapter book and this had that. The story is told by each sister in a now before fashion that makes it a fast read as well.
This will be a book that has you on the edge of your seat wondering what is going on.

Definitely kept me guessing - even when I thought I had it figured out. Very enjoyable read like her other novels. Thanks for the opportunity.

3.5 rounded up. I love Sally Hepworth and I know that I can always rely on a good thriller from her. This book follows three sisters, all of whom stayed in the same foster care home as children. I really enjoyed the found family aspects of it. While the twists weren't completely shocking, I did not see them coming. The end was a twist that I could see people loving or hating but I really enjoyed it. Shoutout to Sally for including queer characters in this novel as well.

I think it could've been a little more fleshed out with the girls current life problems, but overall I had a great time reading this and I will continue to pick up Sally's books.

Thank you Net Galley and St. Martin's Press. It was very special to get to read one of my favorite thriller authors new release.

This one really captured my attention and was difficult to put down. It was a fast moving, easy to read thriller. I enjoyed getting to know the three main characters who grew up together, and were sadly abused, while in foster care. They are brought together to tell their story when the bones of a body are found beneath their former foster home.

Typical of Hepworth’s thrillers, she weaves a fascinating tale while developing interesting and relatable characters.

I highly recommend this thriller.

I am never disappointed with this author's books and her latest certainly doesn't disappoint.
As you read this book, the tension continues to mount and the suspense heightens. Just when I thought I figured out who did what and where the responsibility for the mystery reigned, I realized I didn't figure it out. That certainly makes for an intriguing ride.

Darling girls was a thrilling read! This is my first Sally Hepworth book and I am now hooked and ready to dive into all of her other novels. I loved how the sisterhood remained strong throughout the story and showed resilience. Definitely recommend

This was a great book. I usually like Sally Hepworth books. There was a little mystery and good development of the character’s personalities and friendships. Kept my interest. Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Three girls bonded by the shared experience of the same foster home. Now grown, they are informed that human bones have been found under the house during demolition. What happened? This is the third Hepworth I’ve read. One was a five star and one was three. This one, unfortunately was a three. I was able to figure out the “twist” and the resolution was underwhelming. Hepworth is always fun to read and I will be seeking out more of her work.

Sally Hepworth has done it again. This book will grab you and hold on to the end. Alicia, Jessica and Norah enter the foster system and are placed together with Miss Fairchild. While not sisters by birth, they are sisters through life and are called together when a body is found in the grounds of the house where they were placed. Alternating between each one’s past and present and an individuals visits to the therapist, you will willingly turn the pages nonstop to find out what happens.

Darling Girls is a twisty and suspenseful journey through the dark side of the foster care system. The plot was fast-paced and suspenseful, and it kept me guessing right up until the very end.

This is the story of 3 sisters with an unbreakable bond. They grew up together in foster care, under the care of Miss Fairchild. They thought themselves lucky to have a home… but what else is going on? Many years later, they return after human remains are found where their foster home once stood… but are they being looked at as witnesses or suspects?
