I'm not going to lie it kind of hurt to be in Loki's head for an entire book. I think I prefer movie version over book version or comic version.

This is a book of magic tricks, described as if they were handed down from the god of mischief himself. There is a nice supply list at the beginning and the illustrations are clear and easy to follow. This is a must for any magic loving Marvel fan. The only thing that would make it better are more images of Loki throughout, instead of just at the beginning and the end.

This book wasn’t what I expected it to be. In a way, that made it much more fun to read. We see Loki go on a thrilling adventure as they tell readers how to do tougher and more challenging tricks. Along the way, we see another side of this beloved villain. Most people will have a great time reading this book.

Loki’s Book of Magic and Mischief is a fun and entertaining book. This journal is written by Loki for his future self or variant, if he should ever lose his memory and all is power. Loki’s Book of Magic and Mischief is a diary of magic spells and tricks to help jog Loki's memory and get him back to causing mischief and mayhem.

Some of the spells in this book made me laugh. Loki is trying to cause mischief and pull the wool over people's eyes. Basically exactly what you'd expect from the God of Mischief. As I read Loki's magic spell diary I pictured Loki laughing as he wrote this.

I like the art on some pages as well. The illustrations feel like something Loki created through with an enchantment to help him remember each spell.

If you enjoy Loki in the comics or Marvel movies / shows you’ll enjoy this book. Its fun and meant to make you laugh.

Stay Awesome and keep reading!

This book had a lot of tricks in it just like our beloved LOKI!

The flow of the tricks while mentioning the various characters from Marvel made me nostalgic and I had fun while reading the various tricks. This graphic novel is unlike the others where there is a plot or a continuous story, this is more of a journal entry kind of thing which was captivating because its LOKI!

This book stood true to it's name of magic and mischief, not only are the tricks mentioned but also they are detailed in the best way possible with the tricks behind them and the diagrams which represent how to successfully carry out the tricks.

I am definitely going to try some of them and also recommend a few to the kids around me.
The ingredients at the start was a bonus.

At first, I thought this was a graphic novel about Loki, but turns out, it's a magic trick instruction book. Mostly, the book gave detailed instructions on how to do certain magic tricks with some clever Loki comments. Definitely look through the book before you buy it, but it you got a kid who is into magic tricks and Loki, I would recommend it.

I originally requested this because I thought it would be a great addition to the bookstore but its just not for our demographic. Its a fun and unique way of putting together a how to magic book though!

Every family has that one person who thinks they're a magician - some of them might even get closer to that goal than others. As a general rule, I lacked the dexterity to do anything of the sorts. While these tricks are definitely aimed at 'young Midguardians', it as kind of fun to make my way through them and try them out - some of them even worked!
The one downside: if you're reading this as an ebook, depending on how much you zoom your screen, the lay-out will get a little jumbled up, making for very confusing instructions.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me this eARC to review.

This is an ideal book for older children and teens who want to learn magic tricks as it has a list of materials needed for each trick as well as demonstrations of the tricks. The art is nice.

Loki (brother of Thor) is considered an iconic character in the Marvel universe for a variety of reasons. He has a compelling backstory as the jealous adopted brother and arch-nemesis of Thor, giving him complex motivations and a tragic perspective. Loki has also played a pivotal role in the wider Avengers storyline, serving as the main villain in the climactic Battle of New York that brought together the Avengers team for the first time.

Over time, the character has evolved from a straightforward villain into more of an antihero and complex figure who sometimes reluctantly joins forces with his brother Thor against greater threats. I really think this complexity plus being portrayed by Tom Hiddleston in the MCU only adds to the character's appeal.

Finally, Loki's distinctive visual look, with his golden horned helmet and green and black attire, makes him instantly recognizable and iconic when appearing on screen. Loki's shape-shifting abilities and illusionary powers allow him to be a uniquely unpredictable trickster and manipulator, providing an interesting contrast to the more direct and blunt Thor. In many ways, from his personality to his visual design, Loki represents a unique and quintessential Marvel character. That manipulation and trickery is cheekily captured in Loki’s Book of Magic and Mischief, part instructional part storytelling book by Robb Pearlman.

Loki’s Book of Magic and Mischief shows Loki revealing the secrets behind 35 of his most popular magic tricks. The premise of this book is interesting, author Robb Pearlman translated all of Loki’s secret magic tricks from Norse to English and the instructions coupled with illustrations are a fun twist on a classic Loki story.

Children won’t find Loki’s origin story or a summary of some of his latest betrayals but they will find some magic tricks that range from easy to complicated all using items you would find around their house! Items include dice, glue, utensils, dollar bills, crayons, and coins.

The first magic trick is a super easy one that my daughter and I tested, which is basically making a fist and snapping a rubber band between your two hands so that the audience thinks the rubber bands disappear, they just can’t see them! Each magic trick has a paragraph or two introduction with green and gold (classic Loki colors) illustrations showing step by step on how to complete the trick.

I love that this book has classic Loki art from various artists sprinkled throughout the book. The book is separated into sections that range from easy tricks to more complicated ones. While this book is marketed to all Loki and MCU fans, children will especially love the stories behind the simple tricks and the fact that most of the instructions use items that they can access around their homes.

As a big Marvel fan, this book brought me a lot of laughs. I could easily see testing these tricks out with my nieces and nephews; it makes for a great group activity! It was humorously written from Loki's POV, but still easy to read through and understand and I feel like it would be for a wide range of ages.

I think this would be a great book for tweenagers, I think the tricks would keep them entertained and the explanations as to how to perform the tricks are at an accessible level for 10-12 year olds.

Thanks to BenBella Books, Smart Pop, and NetGalley for the ARC!

This is perfect for anyone (both children and adults with a childlike sense of whimsy) who loves Marvel, Loki, and magic tricks. The introduction to each trick is cute & filled with references to the movies and comics, and there's a plethora of beautiful artwork depicting the many versions of Loki throughout the book.

There are plenty of tricks to entertain and excite both magician and audience alike!
