2.5 starts rounded up. Thanks to NetGalley for a review copy.

It was cute. There was a moment (no spoilers) when a taxi driver was putting on an accent for the newcomer which felt real to me as I once had a Scottish tour guide who would put on an English accent when in England - for verisimilitude. This is worth the half star bump for me.

The interactions between the MCs are nice if light. The overall plot is nonsense, but fun nonsense. A light and harmless read.

✨ “The snow was beginning to stick, and Melissa’s imagination shifted from thoughts of Ness to Christmas. The snow added a sparkling layer of frosting to the hilly countryside and the loch, and she enjoyed the drive, humming Christmas carols along with the radio. The loch grew wider and the snow was falling heavier when she finally spotted a sign: Greenhill House. She was home.“ ✨
I loved this little short & sweet read. I wish it were longer. I honestly can’t wait to read the sequel Highlands New Year! This story was essential a cosy christmas episode that made you want to cuddle up beside a wood burning stove and watch the snow fall.

This is a novella, and as such it’s a short read. I finished it in under an hour, but i really felt there was enough going on for it to have been expanded into a full length novel. I’m crossing my fingers that the sequel is novel length and that we get to see more into Colin & Melissa’s story

Thank you to the Amy Parrish, Flying Cactus and NetGalley for the opportunity to provide my honest opinion on the ARC of this book.

very very sweet and simple, honestly felt like a Hallmark movie but including the blandness of their attraction, if that makes sense. like the only 2 times they kiss it's sooo anticlimactic, like they're in the middle of a normal conversation and boom "They kiss." no pause no staring into the others' eyes just straight for the kiss. they're like two asexuals beings just finding a platonic connection.

a lot of cringe moments between all the characters, quirky banter, silly interactions as if Melissa was the center of everyone's world, etc a constant awkward vibe

also Melissa is the dumbest person ever, she "inherits a house" but doesn't question it and neither does she when she finds "for sale" signs and she never questions anything really she just buys pretty curtains and ignores all the red flags. she felt a bit entitled

overall it was too innocent and light hearted for me but if you're looking for a quick cute Christmas romance give it a try!

This was a charming current day rom-com holiday novella set in the Highlands of Scotland. So, pour yourself a hot cup of cocoa, snuggle under a blanket on the couch in front of the fire and let the story take you away from your own daily cares.

It wasnt fantastic but it wasnt awful either - 3 stars is still a good rating.

3 stars

I enjoyed this book. I’d give it 3.9 stars. I wish that the characters and plot were more developed. This book easily could have been twice as long to develop more and I would have gobbled it up. I hope the next book in their story is longer!

I thought this Novella was OK. It’s a fine Christmas story, similar to other holiday books. I tend to not feel as invested in novella characters/stories as much, so I wish this was actually a longer book.

I was quite bored at the beginning. The premise captured me as something I would be interested in, but honestly I couldn’t make it through the first chapter. I want a book to sweep me off my feet and this just didn’t do it for me. I think the premise of this book would make a stellar Hallmark movie though. I’m rating one star because I did not finish and I at least want to give this book some level of feedback.

This is a a quick sweet story that has a the Christmas charm. The only issue is I wish it was a full novel.

Thank you to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review!

This book was super cute but also very short. I didn’t check the page count before starting and read it in one sitting. While I did get immersived into the Highlands, the romance happened too fast for me. I needed more and hope book 2 will deliver on this, and I do plan to read it!

This was a cute little fun read novella about a scottish place and i loved Melissa and Colin together and their cute story.

A quick read. I finished it in less than an hour. It's very simplistic, very stereotypical and very unrealistic. However, it's also very charming, and while I found myself noticing all the issues with it, it never really made me consider giving up on it. I really enjoyed the setting (there's just something about (Scottish) village life - especially at Christmas time!) and the friends Melissa made along the way. I even liked Colin... even if he was clearly being awfully unprofessional and blatantly ignoring a serious conflict of interests ;-)

I would love for the author to take a second shot at this - find a better editor, and work out some of the kinks. Because plot-wise it has great potential, and if the charm hadn't been diluted by the stereotypes in both characters and events, it would end up being a very sweet Christmas novella indeed.

I'm always a sucker for cute Scottish romances, and this was no exception. My only complaint is that I wish it was longer because I blazed through far too quickly! Highly recommend to others who enjoy some Highlands romance. We will purchase for the collection.

Cute, quick read. It did feel really rushed at times. It wrapped up rather quickly but was a nice holiday read.

I loved getting in the spirit of Christmas with this Novella. I was actually laughing out loud during some of this book. I feel as though the story was to the point and really enjoyable to read. My husband is from the UK and it was really fun to be able to talk with him about the language used in this book! I highly enjoyed and recommend for anyone looking to snuggle up on the couch for cozy Christmas vibes!

I actually would have enjoyed a bit more context on what happened with the characters previous relationship and her future relationship to be tied up a bit more. Excited for a second book!

This was a sweet holiday story. It was short and easy to read. All the characters were more or less one-dimensional and I find Melissa, the heroine, a little annoying. Not sure how old she’s supposed to be but she acted like a teenager. Also, the story just abruptly ended when I think the plot was finally getting somewhere but there’s going to be a sequel.

This NetGalley for the review copy.

Highlands Christmas is a fun, quick read that's full of holiday spirit. Melissa winds up in Scotland for the holidays, attempting to reinvent her life. Colin returns home from the US to help his family, but unexpectedly meets Melissa. This light, fun loving book is perfect if you've ever just wanted to get away.

I received a free copy of ‘Highlands Christmas - Wishes Come True’ from NetGalley in exchange for my review.

I am so disappointed that the 1st book in this series was a novella.
It had beautiful descriptions and what could have been characters you fall in love with (not Dave) but because the author opted for a novella I was left wanting. There could have been so much more to this and there just wasn’t. Nothing was fleshed out, just glossed over with the bare minimum information. Too many quick coincidences with no thought behind them. Extremely disappointed as this book could have been amazing

Would I read the 2nd? Honestly, no because I feel that I’ve missed out on too much already to then just be flooded with pointless information about things/characters after this missed opportunity.

The books should have been the other way around - book then novella

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. Such a sweet little novella that is full of new opportunities and experiences at Christmas. Add in men in kilts, puppies, and accents and it is a little mini Christmas wish come true!
