The sequel and conclusion to [book:Into the Mist|59248539] was a ride. Still giving The Mist, The Stand, The Fireman, Sleeping Beauties, Chronicles of the One, and Y: The Last Man vibes! But also its own post-apocalyptic story. Glad to have gotten back into P. C. Cast!

What an incredible follow up to Into the Mist. For any fan of stories set in the Pacific Northwest and enjoy science fiction, specifically dystopian, and girl power! Suspenseful, nail-biting, What also makes this story unique is the fantasy elements in it as well. Cast delivers a genre blend at its finest.

I didn't think upbeat dystopia was a genre but here we are. Out of the Dawn ties up loose ends left in the first book and has a soft HEA for our "core four". Overall pretty enjoyable, however, like with the first book the dialogue didn't feel natural, and was almost cringe inducing at some points, enough so I had a difficult time finishing it.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review, all thoughts are my own.

Captivatingly badass and absolutely thrilling! I had no idea what I was getting into with Out of the Dawn and oh my gosh it totally blew me away! Not only was the story thrilling but the audiobook totally took it to the next level!

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, however I felt this one was really reaching. Although this is Apocalyptic/ sci fi, I felt like it went to far. I love the characters and that it takes place I'm my home state. The writing is well done, I just feel it's overdone.

Wow, the suspense in this was truly spectacular and and I found myself nail-biting the whole way through. The characters, who were developed in Into The Mist were evolving quite a bit in this one and it was really interesting that it was easy to imagine myself with them. I loved the dystopian nature of this with just a touch of fantasy to lighten it a bit. Thanks to Crooked Lane Books for the advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Out of the Dawn (Into the Mist series #2) by P.C. Cast
Narrated by Lorelei King

Out of the Dawn is the second book in the Into the Mist series by P.C. Cast. This book was just as enjoyable as the first!

If you enjoy fantasy and women’s empowerment, then you will enjoy this book. There are such great, strong women characters, who change the world around them! I absolutely loved it! I also enjoyed the fantasy elements to it. The details were incredible!

I loved the narration by Lorelei King. She did an amazing job bringing this story to life!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Out of the Dawn picks up close to where Into the Mist left off. Our strong group of teachers are honing their powers and learning more about themselves, their surroundings and the new world after the devastation.

I loved the post-apocalyptic feeling of book one and felt this was more a settling into routine with less of the heart pounding events.
There is more focus on the mystical and foreshadowing of the light vs. dark that's hinting at the edges of the plot. There are also strong themes of consent and handling grief that could be too much for some readers.

The audiobook was an excellent listen. Narrated by Lorelei King, she kept the voices and the energy from the first book. I love when narrators stick with a series and King is perfect for this one.

I'm looking forward to seeing where the next book leads. I'm hoping the post-apocalyptic action scenes pick back up and the unique character changes bring more reveals. I also hope the subplots are more limited.

I was so excited to get this ARC for “Out of the Dawn” from the fabulous P.C. Cast. I highly recommend this book - I was such a fan!

This story picks up right where the 1st book left off. We are immersed into the lives of those left after the earth quakes and green mist as devastated the population. I love PC Cast writing style of the everyday tasks and how people go through the day. I always feel like a really get to know the characters well. Mercury especially comes to life but all the core four have their personalities that are brought forth while reading the story. I always enjoy reading the rituals and magic system and as it growing in the society.
That being said the plot on the 2nd book was a little thin. It felt a bit repetitive and almost a little preachy and it hard to believe that the time line is so short. It also had a very juvenile feel with foreshadowing of things to come. There were no twist and turns. The bad guys are the bad guys and the good guys are the good guys. You can could almost read this story as child except for the language and content which almost seems forced adult.
I did listen to this audio and the narration is very well done. I really enjoyed listening to the story and I think it helped me get through some of the slower parts.
Over all it is idealistic, women power, nature loving dystopian novel that was an easy read and good over comes evil.

Dear Out of the Dawn,
You were well written but didn't really bring anything new to the "good versus evil" post-apocalyptic, magical trope. I enjoyed getting into the mind of Mercury, and seeing her relationships with her clan develop. I enjoyed your story, but I feel like there are other books and other authors who did it better.

This was an entertaining follow up to the first book Into the Mist. The audiobook was done so well, I loved it! It had a lot of good suspense, and the descriptions were so vivid that I felt like I was really there!

I will always be a fan of Cast and her novels. I was super excited to dive back into this dystopian tale and find out what was going to happen with the 'Core Four". I loved how much this one tied back to pagan views and the tie between nature and people. This one was a little more on the man hating track than i would have liked but the subject nature and seriousness of the content made it necessary in the end. I loved that ford returned, he was definitely one of my favorite characters from book one and i love the connection between him and mercury. I will gladly be returning to this story and eager to see what will happen with Mercury and the core four! I also absolutely loved the narrator, she did a fantastic job of once again bringing this story to life.

This is a good book. I think I liked it so much because I did the audio book so I felt like I was watching the story unfold it was so well written with descriptions. This book kicks off right after book 1 so if you can binge it I would reccomend it as I took a few months between and got a bit confused since there is no recap. You could read it as a standalone but you will miss the HUGE overlapping story. I feel this could be a duology but I am hoping to see it as a trilogy. I loved our powerful women, the pagan beliefs, the complete care and respect everyone had for everyone race, gender, sexual identity etc which is impressive for this distopian world

I listened to Out of the Dawn in audiobook format. I love the narrator! This is the second in a series and I recently finished the first one, Out of the Mist. They have the same narrator and I am a fan from another series she does. I also really loved the first book, but this second one was for me. I am sure others will give it 5 stars so don't let me discourage you! It turned into a bit more fantasy and that unfortunately isn't my favorite to read.

A woman led post-apocalyptic more egalitarian society? I don't need to know anything else. Sign me up immediately. This series gives a view of what the world might be like if women ruled it.

I really loved the concept for how the world came to be the. way that it is. I love that the gas gives women powers while wiping out the men. It's also interesting how continued contact with the green mist continues to affect people.

I loved seeing the society structure being formed. The sense of justice for violations of community standards was so refreshing and is the sort of community I would want to create if I was in this scenario.

Overall, I enjoyed this series and its look at a post-apocalyptic society. I wish it had delved a bit deeper into some of the characters and their motivations, but all in all it's a good read.

I absolutely loved the House of Night books by this author, but this one kind of just fell a little bit flat for me.

4.5+ stars

As with the first novel in the series, I really enjoyed this story (and I’m hoping the writer is planning to continue with at least one more book). The premise was as intriguing as the first book, but instead of being in the midst of total crisis, now the characters are trying to figure out how to create a liveable world after the apocalyptic events. I was hooked pretty much right from the beginning and, like I said earlier, I really hope the writer isn’t done exploring this series yet.

Out of the dawn
By p.c. cast
A new twist on apocalyptic novels. This very empowering and understanding twist makes a change to understanding of the spiritual beliefs allowing open acceptance to religious differences. Continuing the story of into the mist Mrs. Cast shows a change of the world caused by violent cataclysmic bombing that caused mass death and rapid change. The women exposed were at first given gifts. This book looks into a supernatural abilities and human strength. It shows motivation and purpose can give you options to excell. Although it showed that even more and more beautiful world of nature and spiritualism it also showed balance.
