The Locked Door felt just like every other psychological thriller I’ve read lately—predictable and formulaic. The twists didn’t really surprise me, and the characters felt more like clichés than real people. I kept hoping for something fresh or different, but it followed the same pattern as all of Freida McFadden’s other books. It wasn’t terrible, but it left me feeling like I’ve read the same story too many times.

Thank you to Netgalley and Poisoned Pen Press for this eARC. All thoughts are honest and my own.

I genuinely enjoyed this book. The only other book I have read by this author was ‘The Housemaid’.

This book was fast paced, had short chapters and kept me intrigued, didn’t disappoint. I really loved the flashbacks too. It also had a great plot twist that I did not see coming.

Love me some Freida McFadden. She just keeps cranking them out! As always, loved this read. Suspenseful, mysterious, and hooks you from the beginning. I think I’ve made it my goal to read all of her books now!

Thanks to Poisoned Pen Press, the author, and NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

The Locked Door is a chilling dive into the nature vs. nurture debate. The novel follows a Dr. Nora Davis who is also the daughter of a psychotic serial killer, who killed at least 30 women . Suddenly of Nora’s patients are ending up up dead with her hands cut off. The police look to Nora for answers and keep questioning her and she feels she is the number one suspect.

With forensic-level detail and heart-stopping whodunnit tension, the story forces readers to question: Can evil be passed down like eye color? The twists and turns of this thriller kept me guessing until the last page.

Okay. Finished this in 4 hours. Literally could not put this down. I was literally in like fight or flight mode. This was perfectly written ! Did not predict the plot twist AT ALL.
The characters all seemed sus and I was driving myself crazy trying to piece it all together !

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review *

Freida McFadden’s The Locked Door is the kind of psychological suspense novel that reminds you why you fell in love with thrillers in the first place. From the nerve-tingling opening scene to the final jaw-dropping reveal, McFadden keeps the tension wound tight—yet somehow still finds room for sly humor and the wry observations that have become her signature.

Highly recommend.

Another “popcorn thriller” from Freida . I enjoyed the easy read, but left me wanting more depth and detail .

Sorry to say but I don't think Freida is for me, and I don't think I will be requesting more of her books. Take it with a grain of salt because I know she has a significant fan base!

Another incredible thriller from Freida McFadden that I could not put down!

The timeline alternates between Nora's present day life and her childhood, and you are drawn into her story immediately.

The short chapters give the story a fast pace and there are just enough red herrings to keep you guessing which way the story will go. I was sure I had it figured out but I was thrown by the twist. My jaw literally dropped!

If you like Freida McFadden or psychological thrillers you should add this to your tbr!

I flew through this one. Freida never fails to keep me guessing right up to the end. A fast, easy read with plenty of twists.

I haven’t read a book by Freida yet that I haven’t enjoyed. I easily race through her thriller books because they have me hooked from beginning to end and I never see the plot twists coming., they are more like a smack in the face.
I always think I know what it’s going to be and I have it sussed but then the queen of misdirection throws us a curveball and it’s always someone or something completely different than what I thought it was going to be.
Freida is a master of misdirection, of putting all the clues in the book to point to one person and then at the end, it’s the very least person you would ever expect it to be.
Good fast-paced read, True to Freida's style, wasn't my first wont be my last.

This was another intense book by one of the queens of thrillers! Suspenseful, gripping and more than a little creepy. Though it might not be my favorites of Freida, I enjoyed it nonetheless.

This book was decent. These books are what I call “palate cleansers.” Which is not a negative in any fashion. They’re quick reads with enjoyable storylines.
