Wow...the daughter of a serial killer...is she following in her father's footsteps? Or is she being set up? Or is she having a mental breakdown and is unaware of her actions?
This book keeps you guessing.
The pacing was good and overall I enjoyed my time with it.
A bit more of a deep dive into the secondary characters around the MC would have made this a 4☆ for me.
Thank you, Netgalley, for the advanced copy!

Nora Davis has a big secret. The successful surgeon is the daughter of a notorious serial killer, “The Handyman,” who operated out of her family’s home when Nora was a child. But he’s safely behind bars now, and Nora has moved on and become someone who saves lives. Then one day, the police knock on her door and say that a patient of hers was murdered. And there was something odd about how she was found….because it appears someone is emulating Nora’s father’s crimes. Could it be Nora herself? Is nature stronger than nurture?Nora’s not-so-sure any more.
The book moves between two time periods: “Before” when we see events leading up to Nora’s father’s arrest; and in the present day, both told from Nora’s POV.
This book was freaking amazing. I couldn’t put it down! It has a perfectly crafted atmosphere - dark and foreboding, with a protagonist who doesn’t quite let you all the way in. And especially in the “before” timeline, there’s something distinctly creepy about Nora, which makes things more interesting and complicated because then you’re questioning her actions and moves in the present-day timeline.
The ending was truly great, with several twists that really made things exciting. I thought I had it figured out a couple of times, just to be completely wrong in the end. But I was happy to be wrong. Nothing like a good twist to keep you on your toes!
The whole book was just a master work of creepiness and chills as it powered along. If you like thrillers with great mysteries at their centers, pick this one up now!

4.5/5 stars
Thank you to Netgalley, the publishers, and Freida McFadden for allowing me to read and review this book.
This is the first book of Freida McFadden's that I have read. I have heard such high praises about Freida McFadden's books, and I can now honestly agree that her books are amazing.
I was gripped from the very first page and couldn't put this book down. I had to know what would happen next. There are so many twists and turns throughout this book. At any point in time, you can believe you know what is going to happen next and be completely blind sighted.
I highly recommend this book to everyone that loves a good thriller/mystery. I will definitely be picking up more of her books in the future.

Another enthralling story from Freida McFadden! Nora Davis, an excellent surgeon, is just hoping no one will figure out her father. As soon as two of her patients turn up dead in the same manner using her father’s signature killing style, it’s a wild ride on who is committing these heinous acts. I was guessing the entire story and was blown away by the shocking conclusion!

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for providing an advance copy in exchange for honest feedback

Frieda McFadden never disappoints, I don't care what type of reader you are, her books are absolutely amazing! I have yet to read one that didn't blow me away!

Thank you Poisoned Pen Press and Netgalley for an ARC of The Locked Door in exchange for my honest opinion.
In true Freida McFadden fashion, the book has twists and turns that keep you guessing. Did not expect the ending at all. I did find some parts to be wordy and repetitive. I’ve read several other books by her and this one may be my favorite so far.
Dr. Davis is a well known surgeon. She’s also the daughter of a notorious serial killer, Aaron Nierling. Her parents were both arrested when she was a child and she went to live with her grandmother. Her grandmother tried everything she could to keep her away from the evilness of her father.
Years later, women from Nora Davis’s practice start turning up dead. With the same signature her father had left. Nora’s past is coming up in a world where nobody really knows the truth about her life.

Just when I thought I had this one figured out, Freida swooped in and did what she does best and literally blindsided me with the most epic plot twist.
The Locked Door had me physically holding my breath, it had my clenching my fists and cuddling up in a blanket. My heart was breaking while at the same time racing.
I’m not sure how she does this time after time, but man am I hooked.
This may have been one of my most favorites of hers so far!!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The twist was unexpected but very interesting. I would definitely recommend this book to other people and I would definitely also re-read this book.

This book was just another absolutely amazing spectacle from my favourite author!! I couldn’t recommend enough!!

Fun mystery with a good twist at the end. I overall enjoyed it, but there were a couple things that felt inconsistent for me and didn’t tie up as well as I’d hoped! Would give this 3.5 stars!
Thank you NetGalley and poisoned pen press for my ARC in exchange for my honest feedback!

Frieda McFadden really has a grasp on fast, fun fiction. I throughly enjoyed her latest novel. Would definitely recommend to family and friends.

I read this book in less than 24 hours. It was really well written and I didn't see the end coming. I questioned if Nora was losing her mind and at times I suspected Philip and even the police officer of being the killer. I was surprised by the end.

Another enjoyable book by this author. I always enjoy her books and this was no exception. Very easy to read and makes you want to read more. Great as per usual! Thanks Frieda for writing such enjoyable books!

Frieda comes through again! Another book that doesn’t disappoint. This book contains mystery and suspense, along with the twists that Frieda McFadden is known for.. Can you outrun your past?

Thank you Netgalley and poisoned pen Press for the ARC in exchange of an honest review.
I was definitely intrigued by the premises. But being a doc, I did not like Nora's monologues as surgeon. She didn't really sound like a successful surgeon. She sounded too naive for that.
Apart from that, it was an okay book. McFadden can really keep her readers engaged but they feel simplistic mysteries. There are hardly any clues for us to figure out what's gonna happen.
Overall good for one time read and the end reveal was good. I did not see it coming at all.
Star rating 3.5 stars

The stress you feel when reading this book is exactly what you want to feel when reading a good thriller. Suspicious of everyone!! The author twists at the end were so fun too, the prolog too!
The story’s premise did feel a little familiar to Just Like Home and A Flicker in the Dark, but I enjoyed this one so much more!

This book was really good!!! I thought I had it figured out and did not see the twist coming!!! Thank you NetGalley and Freida McFadden for letting me review this book!!

If you read a Freida McFadden - then you know what you gonna get! She never disappoints with her books. I want to read them all!
This one was a fast-paced, addictive thriller that kept you on your toes. It took some turns that you didn't see coming... That's another thing I love about Freida's books. It's like a wild ride all the way to the end. I can really recommend this thriller.

A suspenseful, creepy and fast-paced read. This book is set in dual timelines. We get to read about Nora, as a child who watched her father who was always in the basement behind locked doors. Her father was doing terrible things in the basement. Nora grew up and moved away to escape her past until her past comes back to haunt her. A must read!
