I had high hopes for this book - but in the end it fell a bit flat for me. I think the reasoning being there were just too many storylines. I enjoyed getting to see various view points, but I think the daughter's side story just went above what was needed and caused some confusion. In the end it just wasn't my favorite.

This book was entertaining but I didn't like it as much as I expected. There were too many characters and some of the ones who turned out to be important in the end weren't very fully developed. I love books with twists and turns - and there were plenty of them in this book; but some of the twists were so unlikely I found myself rolling my eyes. The ending wasn't very believable. In spite of these negatives, I would recommend this book to others - - as long as they aren't expecting perfection.

I saw other recommendations for this book and decided I had to read it. I certainly was glad I did. I had not read a book by Miranda Rijks prior to this, but I will definitely be looking for others to see if they have the same intensity and twists.
I had seen a few reviews lambasting the many twists and deceptions that take place, but I didn't feel any of them were too far out to be unbelievable. Life is messy and complicated, and lying to those you love furthers that narrative.
I definitely recommend this book!

This was a quick and fun thriller. The storyline was easy flowing with various plot twists and throat punchable characters (looking at you Elsa). The narrators were good; however, the multiple POVs were difficult to keep straight. Enjoyed reading this book and felt the ending was spot on. Could it have been better…sure. Would I recommend to others…yes.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the gifted ARC (audiobook)…as all opinions are my own.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review. Jane receives a call from her best friend Naomi asking her to pick up Florrie from school as Naomi is stuck in a meeting. Once Jane gets there, she is 5 minutes late and the school secretary says that someone already picked up Florrie from school. Jane is frantic and can't believe the school would release a child to a complete stranger. When asked who the person was that picked up Florrie they are advised that the lady said her name was Jane. Now the hunt is on to find out who took Florrie and whether they can find her in time. This was a good read and there were a lot of twists and turns that came out during this story. Quick ready and I hope you enjoy!!!

I listened to this audiobook thanks to the author and publisher through NetGalley in exchange for my review of it.
In this audiobook, a girl goes missing when she is supposed to be picked up from school. Who took her? And more interestingly….why was she taken?
Told by a couple of women who are friends, how does so much go wrong when trying to find Florrie (not sure if the selling because I listened to the book rather than reading it)?
People end up dead. People may be framed….are these connected to the child abduction? You can only find out if yiu read The Other Mother—or listen to it like I did!
The narrators have nice, soothing voices. Great choices with them!

This book is a solid 3 stars. There were some twists and turns and some things really had me guessing but the big twist at the end was not as bold as it could have been. This book is one where there is a character who I hated soooo much and that is skill is hard to come by! Thank you NetGalley for the arc and audiobook.

Jane is asked by her friend, Naomi, to pick up her 4 year old daughter, Florrie, from school. However, when Jane gets there Florrie has already been picked up by someone calling themselves Jane.
From there everything starts to unfold and Jane finds one of Florrie’s socks in her home. Who could have taken the little girl? And why?
This books is fast paced, I listened to the audiobook and finished it in a couple sittings. The twists did not thrill me like they should have, though. When it came I was like “but why?!” It didn’t seem to fit the story.

The Other Mother by Miranda Rijks, an audiobook narrated by Nicola Delgado-Sievertson, Lorna Bennett, and Emma Fenney is a psychological thriller told from 3 different points of view. The multi-cast narration in this book was just brilliant. It was so easy to follow whose point of view was covered. And it was nice ass narrators used accents where needed. The storyline was interesting and definitely made you guess what is going on.
The main characters, best friends Jane and Nala are put under massive pressure when Nala's daughter goes missing - she is picked up by a stranger, and no one knows who did it and why? Nala blamed Jane as she was too late to pick her up but can she really blame Jane?
The investigation adds unbelievable pressure on both families. There are some dark secrets from the past that shakes everyone's piece even more. Can both families survive the tragedy? Can Jane and Nala be friends in the future?
The last twist comes in like a cold shower! Whatever I thought I would never guess the last twist.
Thanks, NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an advance copy, I enjoyed this audiobook a lot!

The Other Mother
Miranda Rijks
Florrie’s mother, Naomi has to stay late for a training class; she asked Jane to pick her up from school and take her to the dentist. When a patient called Jane felt she had to take the call making her 10 minutes late picking Florrie up. Someone claiming to be Jane had already picked the four-year-old up. Florrie is missing. Jane is a clinical psychologist and writes a column for the local paper featuring letters from anonymous people. Suddenly the letters are different, they ask questions that seem to parallel her life. The letters contain intimate details of her own life. What could that have to do with the missing child? When Jane finds one of Florrie’s socks in her laundry basket, she begins to suspect her son or husband. Could one of them have something to do with the child’s disappearance? Her husband admits an unspeakable betrayal sending Jane into a tailspin. Can Jane locate Florrie in time?
Author Miranda Rijks offers readers a fast-paced thriller that will keep them on the edge of their seats. The POV is told through more than one character. There were plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. I did not like the character of Florrie’s father nor Jane’s daughter. I am not sure I totally like Jane; she has no idea what is going on with her family. Jane is dedicated to her work and to her advice column Aurora Rae. The school personnel were lax in their protocol. Florrie’s father seems borderline abusive. Jane’s daughter is a borderline psychopath.
While I would not give this tale 5 stars it is most definitely a 4 star read.

Thank you Netgalley for the advanced audio of this book. I read alot of mystery thrillers and some are straight out predictable. This book I thought I knew who did it, in the end had NO clue. Full of twists you don't expect. I enjoyed the characters even the not so favorite ones. Thought the author brought them out to life and their personalities

I had the pleasure of listening to this Audio Book THE OTHER MOTHER. The first few chapters were setting up all the character's...then it exploded and everything got so exciting that i could not stop listening to this story. And it just keeps getting better and better with all the twists and turns. A 4 year old little girl is taken from school and its hard to figure out who was involved and what happened to this little girl. A must read and really good story. On to another Miranda Rijks book. 5 stars

Poor Jane she went through so much throughout this entire novel.
Jane was supposed to pick up her friend's 4-year-old daughter, Florrie, from school to take her to the dentist's appointment. When Jane was done with her work call and drove straight to the school afterward, she had already picked up Florrie. The only problem was it was not her but another Jane who was personating her.
The number of times I yelled at the book why she isn't calling the police but instead waits hours to really make sure Florrie is actually missing.
This book is just filled with cheating, miscommunication, unhappiness, and overall, no one was happy in their home.
Still, poor Jane the world was just against her every step of the way. Even her own daughter was going above and beyond to mentally distress her.
Overall I enjoyed this book because it was filled with little twists here and there. I finished this book in two sittings because I just really wanted to know where poor little Florrie was and if she would be safe. This book feels like there should be a part two where Jane's daughter continues to mess with her. I would love to read that!
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a quick, page-turner thriller! This novel keeps bringing you back in because of the amount of details and the great way it was written.
Huge thanks to NetGalley, Dreamscape, and Miranda Rijks for this novel in exchange for my honest review!

A parents worse nightmare happens! 4 year old Florrie goes missing and this is all based on that. Lots of secrets, lies, deceit along the way. I want to thank NetGalley and the publisher for this advance audio book for my honest review.

A child abduction thriller penned by author Miranda Rijks.
Yes, I should have loved this book.
But I did not.
The book begins with a child abduction of a 4-year-old girl and I was instantly engaged.
Unfortunately, although the book was well-paced with ample twists, it lacked the sizzle, in-depth characterizations, and "thrills" of many of Miranda Rijks' earlier books.
WHAT WENT WRONG?
The book had too many characters, infidelities, and eye-rolling moments.
In addition, the character in the book's final twist was not well developed.
Miranda Rijks is one of my "go-to" authors so perhaps my expectations were set too high.
I listened to the full-cast audiobook read by Nicola Delgado-Sievertson; Lorna Bennett; and Emma Fenney.
All narrators did an outstanding job with the narration.
Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
2.5 stars rounded up.

Thank you Dreamscape, NetGalley, and Miranda Rijks for this compelling domestic suspense novel. This book touches on every parent’s worse nightmare: someone has taken their child and even worse the secrets that everyone has been hiding are the key to bringing Florrie home. But who do you trust when everyone else is lying too? This was a really enjoyable book and I like her writing. It reminds me a lot of Mary Higgins Clark and a dash of Agatha Christie for seasoning. I will be looking for more by this author.

Re-RELEASES in an audio version on August 10, 2023!!!
Sipping thoughts: A missing child. Liars. Cheaters. All this makes for a great thriller. Florrie, a 4 year old, goes missing and everyone in her family becomes a suspect from her mother, dad, best friends of her family, and friends (or frenemies) of the family. I loved the crazy in this book and it was very unexpected. Another great Rijks book!
Cheers and thank you to @NetGalley and @DreamscapeMedia for an advanced copy of @TheOtherMother.

Four friends. A little girl missing. And secrets that can destroy their friendship, and their families. Good psychological thriller with twits that take you by surprise the whole time. The audiobook, with three females narrators is a good one

Thank you NetGalley and Inkubator Publishers for the audio ARC of The Other Mother by Miranda Rijks. The Other Mother is a thriller that takes you on a wild ride. Jane goes to pick up her friend’s daughter from school and finds out that she has already been picked up by someone else. I did not care for the narrators voices, however it did not deter me from continuing to listen. I wanted to find out who it was that took the child and if she was still alive or not. 3.5 stars.

Whoa. The Other Mother took more twists and turns that a roller coaster at Six Flags! I sped up the narration on this one just so I could devour it faster.
A parents worst nightmare - a child abducted. But having the support of friends is always reassuring, right? Or in this case, maybe not.
I didn't particularly care for Jane's snotty teenagers and wish they could have been just a little more helpful.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the advanced release of this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.
