Fun experiments to do with children using household items. The instructions include illustrations and seem straight forward.

My daughters and I have loved this series of books since they were able to sit with me for some of the chemistry experiments. Both of them want to be doctors so this was a perfect transition into how different organs work and seeing how bones and blood vessels operate. This book is perfect for littles like mine, and can be easily scaled up (or done as directed) for older kids. There were a few activities that I figured better left until their hands are a bit more dexterous, but overall, very excited to keep using this book as they get older!

This fun, informative book has experiments about the human body. The experiments use household materials. There are good instructions, definitions, and explanations.

I expected this book to jump right into the experiments, but there’s a good portion devoted to the basics of how https://smile.amazon.com/the body works. This is an interesting, and probably beneficial section for the littles. I see that this book is rated for ages 5 to 10. My daughter is almost 5 and my son is almost 7. I’m not sure how many of these my daughter would be able to do, or enjoy doing. My son will be be capable of more, but I don’t think he would be even interested in all of them, and he has a very scientific, engineering, experiment type of mind. Also, you’ll definitely need to look at these experiments beforehand. There are a few things that you can use with common household items like stopwatches and flashlights, but they’re also quite a few that require getting things from the store like Stamp pads, modeling clay, and balloons. It looks like enjoyable book that I may try an item or two out of this year or save it another year or two.

I received a review copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

These experiments were just challenging enough, but included simplistic ingredients. It made for a very accessible book, and one that I will be turning to again and again as a librarian looking to create STEAM programs. I especially was impressed with the DNA extraction, simulation of heart valves, and blood clotting demonstrations. These were all very well-written, well illustrated, and look approachable enough for a novice all the way up to an adult.

I highly recommend this book for all schools and libraries.

Great book for elementary age kids interested in the human body and STEAM! The first chapter gives some brief intro information on anatomy and physiology, and then there are a bunch of experiments to teach kids about the body. They start off simple and easy to do and progress to "challenging." I love that each has a difficulty level, time, objective, materials, the steps, and drawings. Then there are Hows & Whys, the STEAM Connection, and a Try This section to build on the experiment. The book ends with a glossary and a resources page to find further info.

Awesome Human Body Science Experiments for Kids is a fun, informative, and age appropriate STE(A)M book with 40 projects by Dr. Orlena Kerek. It's part of a wider series of multi-subject STE(A)M books for primary and middle grade readers. Released 1st Nov 2022 by Callisto Media, it's 128 pages and is available in paperback and ebook formats. It's worth noting that the ebook format has a handy interactive table of contents as well as interactive links and references throughout. I've really become enamored of ebooks with interactive formats lately. For Kindle Unlimited subscribers, this book is currently included in the KU subscription library to borrow and read for free. The other books in the series are also currently available on KU.

This is a very well arranged book full of colorful illustrations and interesting tutorials which can be done with common household items which most readers will have access to without any problems. They're varied and safe and each is well explained with relevant physiological takeaways. Chapters include the body (definitions and concepts), and instructions for readers and facilitators/teachers/parents on how to use the book and tutorials.

The experiments include taste, sight, circulatory system, muscles/skeleton, hair, lungs, and much more. They are written very accessibly with understandable and clear language. Each experiment includes a difficulty and time assessment, a sidebar bullet list of tools and supplies, and a step-by-step instruction series. Important info is highlighted in text boxes, and relevant takeaways and questions are also highlighted.

The line-drawn illustrations are simple, but they're clear and easy to understand. This would make a good choice for classroom or public library acquisition, home use, or gift giving for the primary/early middle school student.

Four stars.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

I read this with my eleven year old and we skimmed through a lot of it. It was extremely informative, maybe too much so for just a at home kids book. This would be better suited for a classroom or science camp environment. We tried some experiments but a lot of them required supplies we didn’t have easily available. But we had some fun and learned a few things. The instructions were easy to follow and this book would be useful for a long time as it has lots of experiments to try. I think a science teacher would love this.

Easy to understand. Points out the dangers and stem connects and additional things to try. Really impressed with the way the book is set up and how clear the messages from the experiments are. Can’t wait to test some on the experiments out!
