I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley.
Lord Lysander (Xander) Bromley is searching for a forger. He locates the person he believes to be the forger, but he is wrong. Miss Fiona Frampton is the person he seeks, not her father. Xander cannot believe that the pretty, young lady is who has caused a major issue for him. Now they need to work together to find his missing paintings, the originals, before either of them are found out.

"Forgery, Love, and Other Lies" by Charlie Lane is a compelling Regency romance that flawlessly combines intrigue, love, and creativity. As I read this hot narrative, it exceeded my expectations.
Lord Lysander Bromley, the protagonist, is a gentleman crook with a golden heart, and Lane brilliantly presents him as a complicated figure who walks the edge between good and evil. Zander's attempt to fake his family's prized artworks to pay off their debts adds moral complexity to the story. Zander seeks information from the mysterious Miss Fiona Frampton after the art collector and artworks vanish.
A strong and independent heroine, Fiona is a jeweler's daughter with a secret forging ability. Lane brilliantly depicts Fiona's psychological problems as she gets embroiled in charges. Zander and Fiona have exciting, chemistry-filled encounters. The unexpected relationship that blossoms amid intrigue and mystery is touching and intense.
The author's brilliant descriptions immerse readers in Regency-era ballrooms, art galleries, midnight auctions, and moonlight lanes. The characters' forlorn search for lost art leads them to their genuine goals, and the story is well-paced.
The romance "Forgery, Love, and Other Lies" is also about redemption, self-discovery, and love's transformational power. Regency romance aficionados must read Charlie Lane's captivating story, which balances historical accuracy with current sensibility. Lane's narrative skills create an intriguing and moving book.

I love this book, the connection between them had me kicking my feet and twirling my hair, the story had a great pacing and it kept me constantly on my toes with all the search. Amazing

If you like a steamy romance with a little bit of lawlessness, this is the perfect read for you. Two unexpected lovers make a beautiful romance.

I put off reading this book because I was worried it wouldn't live up to my expectations. I finally read it... In 1 day... I just had to finish it.
Lord Lysander Bromley has an issue. In an effort to help pull his family out of debt, he secretly replaced their highly value art with forgeries and rented out the real ones. Then, his father died and each of the heirs (he and his siblings) have each inherited 1 of the paintings. As a family, they decided to sale them to. Lysander had to tell his family what he did. When he went to get their paintings, the Lady dowerager he loaned them to had vanished along with all her art collection.
This is where the book begins. Lysander has tracked down the forger with the hope that he can give him information on the whereabouts of the dowerager. When he confronts the man, he gets an unexpected surprise. He had the right family but the wrong person. The forger was not jeweler Mr. Frampton, it was his daughter, Miss Fiona Frampton. He exposed her secret to her family. A secret that if it gets out, will lead her to the gallows.
Fiona is a very talented painter but her passion isn't in painting. It is in designing jewelry. Unfortunately, her family believes her to be too flighty to take a role in their business and want her to stick to ladylike pursuits like painting. The exposure of her secret just proves to them how much she doesn't know.
To make up for her mistakes, she decides to help Lysander find the dowerager and get back not only his paintings but also the others that she did for the dowerager. Hers just be destroyed.
The rest of the story handle my interest and i liked the 2 leading characters. Their relationship doesn't seem too realistic to me but that is only because it is hard for me to believe that a man in that time period could be so open and honest with a woman. Not only that, but completely supportive of her ideas and choices.
I think one of the reasons she grows to love him is that at no point does her treat her like she is unintelligent or flighty, like her family does. It probably helps that at no point does she actually act flighty.
I'm giving this 4 stars because I think it was great enough to keep me invested, I actually like both characters and think they belong together, and I want to read the first & any other books in the series that will come along after.
The whole subplot that seems to connect the series is in order to actually inherited their painting they have to create a work of art that their mother deems to be great. Book 1 was the oldest brother, Raphael (Ralph), and this one is the second book. The sneak peek in the back of the book as book 3 about Theodore (Theo). I'll be looking for both books soon.

Such a good book! I love historical romance! Even more if the female protagonist wants to do something with her life other than having kids. In this case, Fee is not even part of the aristocracy which made it much more interesting for me. I also like that she is the one pursuing a relationship since the start of their ordeal, even if she doesn't realize she is doing so. I will love to read more from you. I'll start with this series.

I enjoyed this book and think I want to def continue the series. The two leads had their own journeys and working together allowed for both romance and learning!

Lord Lysander Bromley, Brother to Raphael Marquess of Waneborough. Theodore and Andrew, Atlas, Magnificent or Maggie as the family calls her. Their father loved them in his was but any ART was loved more. Loved to the point of bankruptcy almost. So each of the brother did what they could to provide for the family.
Fiona "Fee" Frampton, her older sister, Posey, where the "son's" of Frampton & Son’s. Their being the only children of their parents. Posey was a brilliant healer like the father, mom was the bookkeeper which Posey could also do, but was best with clients. Fee was the one mom hoped would marry to provide the son for Frampton and Sons. Posey was not of a mind to marry. Fee could paint but not original works only coping them flawlessly.
A common secret shared, an expectation needed for the desired outcome, and only a dragon to keep them focused. A garner knight stubborn enough to realize he needed to keep the dragon close to protect her would join forces in order to do so.
Lady Balantine’s love of art started them on the quest of finding her in order to find the missing painting. So join them as the search from empty house to masquerade ball to a run down hunting lodge. Along the way discover how a dragon can brighten a tarnished knight.

Love the way this series going! The Bromley family is struggling due to that fact their father, who was a lover and supporter of the art world, but not so much his estate. Now that he has passed away the siblings try in their various ways to keep their ancestral home afloat. Zander feels the guilt that the six of them lost their inheritance since he rented out six paintings and had forgeries made to replace the originals. But their father must have known since that was the only thing he willed his children. On a mission to find the originals he finds the forger.
Fiona is desperately trying to help her parents and their jewelry business, but they only see her as an absentminded painter. And not her true calling as a jewelry designer. She accepts a job to paint forgeries of the classics for a private collector. But now she fears for her life, the dowager is missing. When the owner of the six paintings she did discovers her, she thinks her end is near. But Zander only wants his originals back. So Fiona decides regardless of that Zander says, she is helping him which in turn will hopefully lead her to the forgeries so that she can destroy them.
Great pacing of the story! Will keep you turning pages, a mystery and a romance. I did guess who the villain would be, but such a great fun twist in the capture. On to the next brother’s story! I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. #NetGalley #ForgeryLoveandOtherLies

A good but not great book, "Forgery, Love, and Other Lies" is the story of FMC Fiona, who is somehow convinced to forge a few well-known paintings, and MMC Lysander "Zander", who once paid to have paintings belonging to his father forged so that he could sell the originals. The mystery plot is a little convoluted, but the romance portion is decent as Fiona and Zander end up working together - however reluctantly on his part - to find the now missing paintings. Fiona's character could be stronger from the start, and her mother made me want to scream - she demonstrates that someone can love someone while still hurting them deeply. Zander comes across as a bit whiny at times - he is the source of all these issues but he can fall into self-pity and martyrdom. The villain is fairly obvious but not annoyingly so. I likely won't go back to read the first installment in the series, but I will look for future installments.
3 stars. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. The opinions herein are my own.

Zander, Lord Lysander Bromley, rented his father’s Ruebens paintings and had them forged. He needs them back so that he and his siblings can collect their inheritances. Lady Ballantine should have both the originals and the forgeries. The problem? The lady and all of the paintings are missing. He has tracked the forger and confronts Mr. Frampton, only to discover that his daughter Fiona is the forger. Flabbergasted, Zander and Fee’s family. Even though Zander doesn’t want her involved, the two of them are off to find Lady Ballantine and the paintings. What they don’t plan to do is fall in love. What a great story. There is mystery, intrigue, a bit of danger, and an inevitable romance. The characters and the dialogue pull you into the story. Zander and Fee are a delightful pair. Their sparring and cheeky banter bring humor to the story. Lady Ballantine fits in perfectly. The paintings are in the hands of a villain, although not a very good one. Can Zander return the paintings? Will the siblings get their inheritances? Is there a happily ever after in the cards for Zander and Fiona? All good questions. You must read to discover the answers.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and voluntarily reviewed it.

For the past several years Zander, Lord Lysander Bromley has replaced his father’s priceless paintings with forgeries, helping dig his family out of debt by loaning the originals to a rabid art collector. But when the collector disappears, along with the paintings, he needs answers. And the artist who forged the paintings might have them, but the dragon of a woman with green eyes who makes him smile is not what he expected. Miss Fiona Frampton is a jeweller’s daughter by day and talented art forger by night. When she’s accused of stealing the paintings she forged years ago, she sees only one way to clear her name—help Zander find the missing art.
The second book in the series & whilst it could be read on its own to fully appreciate it I’d recommend reading in order. I really liked both Zander & Fiona & enjoyed their journey to a HEA. I did find the book was slow to begin with & it took until a about a quarter of the way through before the pace picked up but when it did I was engrossed.
My review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Charlie Lane's "Forgery, Love, and Other Lies" is a cute romance with a little mystery involved. The second in a series, I was looking forward to it after reading the first book. But I couldn't really get into it. Fiona seemed a little bit of an airhead, but not all the time. It was sweet how much she wanted to help her family, but she chose the wrong method. As for Lysander, he is the usual type of male character: he has a problem, but feels only he can solve it; he reluctantly accepts help; he fights against his feelings for the woman; said woman has to be put in almost mortal danger before he can accept & acknowledge his love for her.
I actually skimmed through this, and read the last 3 chapters after plodding through the first 6. The discovery of the paintings was cool, and the letters were a nice touch. I still think Lysander's parents were foolish, particularly the father. Their priorities were out of wack, and I don't feel emotional letters are enough to excuse his own behavior. Yet, the happily ever after ending was sweet...because finding love is always always a beautiful thing.
A nice story...but one that, if you can't get into right away, you can put aside for a while and come back to without feeling guilty. Thanks to NetGalley and Charlie Lane for this arc, which I voluntarily reviewed.

Miss Fiona Frampton is the youngest daughter of a jeweler and his wife. She has been forging paintings of the master, Reuben to provide needed income to help her family. Lysander Bromley is the fourth son of a Marquess who sold his father's Reuben's to the dowager Baroness, Lady Ballantine to provide money to support his brother. They meet after Lord Lysander suspects her father of being the person who forged copies of his family's paintings. They are attracted to each other but vow to avoid the attraction because neither of them are in a position for marriage. A fast paced, steamy romance story with a HEA. Mrs. Lane does a masterful job of placing Fiona and Zander into situations that foster more romance and does not allow them to resist falling in love. I am looking forward to more from this series.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

A marquess’ fourth son, Lysander Bromley had only tried to help his family overcome their father’s debts when he had secretly rented six precious paintings of his father’s collection to a baroness. Replacing them with forgeries that now had become his and his five siblings’ only inheritance.
He needed the originals back, but the lady had vanished. Perhaps the forger could put him on the right track? But when he'd finally found him, the man turned out to be a tiny female green-eyed fire-breathing and extremely talented dragon. And on top of that, one who amused him endlessly…
Youngest daughter of a jeweller, Fiona Frampton had been protected form her family’s misfortunes. Or so they thought. She had only wanted to help her family when she’d secretly applied her talent to recreate priceless paintings to supplement their meagre funds. But now her benefactor had vanished. Forgery was a hanging offence and some of them had been discovered.
What else was there to do, but join this Lord in his quest for the originals? Oh, but the man was vexing! Thinking her feeble and incompetent just like her family. She’d show him just how tenacious, clever and useful a tiny dragon could be!
📚 This heroine knows who she is, what she wants and isn’t afraid to go after it. Perfectly honest about his prospects from the beginning, this hero can’t help but fall for his determined creative whirlwind of a heroine. And watching their relationship bloom throughout the book is just delightful!
Secret notes, clever banter, a hidden art gallery, midnight meetings, stolen kisses, an auction masquerade, a love for the imperfect, the discovery of passion, a kidnapping followed by an artistic rescue mission… this enthralling, adventurous, witty and deliciously naughty tale has it all! An excellent read and I can hardly wait for the next book in this series!
📚 Enemies to friends to lovers, steamy, MCs cut from the same cloth
Thank you to Charlie Lane and NetGalley for this ARC! All opinions are entirely my own.

After the way the first book ended I had thought this particular story would be the final in the series because it was all about getting back their inheritances but it worked very well as the second book. But I guess now the rest of the books can focus just on each of the brothers creating their art rather than the mystery surrounding where the artwork had disappeared to. I liked that both Zander and Fiona had done something in an attempt to save their families that then came back to haunt them. I also liked that Fiona continued to insist on being involved in the investigation rather than just letting Zander take care of everything. One of my favorite scenes was when Fiona finally stood up for herself with her family and pointed out how they were trying to force her to be perfect in the eyes of society so that they didn't have to be. It was so great to see her get to speak her mind and point out to them how unfairly they had been treating her. Speaking of her family, I really want to know if we are going to get to see Posey and her Duke again in a later book or another series entirely. As for Zander, I enjoyed watching him learn to forgive himself for what he had done and loved the scenes between him and Raph and him and his mother toward the end of the novel. Both of them told him things that he really needed to hear and showed him that he wasn't a failure to the family. The mystery surrounding the missing artwork offers some fun interactions between Zander and Fiona and raises the stakes just high enough to offer additional drama without taking over the entire story. This book offers some hints as to what the next story will be about and which brother we will get to see matched up next - and if those teases are an accurate depiction of what book 3 has in store it should be quite entertaining as well.

Charlie Lane does not disappoint with Book 2 in her Art Of Love series. I read this directly after book 1 and it flows together nicely. It can be read as stand-alone, but having the background story add so much more to the story.
You get a brief glimpse of Lord Lysander's (Zander) personality in Book 1, and you see his place in the family. He feel less than his siblings, a disappointment. When you meet Fiona (Fee, green-eyed dragon) you see how well they match. Fiona sees her place in the family, her obligations and how it makes her feel less than, a disappointment. They both act before thinking, which leads to lots of fun, laughs and romance.
I'm ready for Book 3, but also want to know more about Fiona's sister Posey and her story with the Duke.

Forgery, Love, and Other Lies is a very fun romp through Regency London. I thoroughly enjoyed Fiona as a heroine--she is flawed but still trying to be her very best, and I really enjoyed that Zander, our hero, saw her as imperfect but still very worthwhile of love. I think that that is something I don't see often in, especially, historical romances. It feels as though the heroine is put on a pedestal quite a bit...which is wonderful but sometimes you just want a romantic lead that feels more attainable, more true to your own experiences, you know?
Some small quibbles about historical accuracy, but I acknowledge that this is a romance first, and historical fiction second, so I won't be pedantic.
Overall, Charlie Lane has gained a fan here and I look forward to checking out more of her work!
Thank you to NetGalley for the ebook ARC. All opinions are mine alone.

Zander and Fiona... a case of doing bad things for the right reasons! Don't you just love those? These 2 had me all tied up in knots as they tried to resolve their problems on the road to love. She forged some paintings to save her family financially-but these were never supposed to see the light of day. Personal use only. Well, that didn't happen. He loaned said paintings out and replaced them with forgeries to cover financial probs caused by his Dad. Then, the middleman (woman) disappeared and the paintings as well. These 2 join forces to get out of this mess. Great story!

I liked this book, which blends mystery and romance. Fiona and Zander, the two main characters, become embroiled in a similar situation, which prompts them to look for missing paintings. This research is an interesting common thread that allows me to discover the aspirations of Fiona and Zander and to track the progression of their attraction—this unstoppable force—for one another. They complement each other very well, with great dynamics between them. I liked how the author added humour to the plots and romance. This humour improves how I see the characters and makes them seem more endearing.
The perfect mix of mystery and romance
