This was a great steamy Regency romance with a twist of a mystery that brings our characters together in a very entertaining read.
Miss Fiona Frampton is a jeweller’s daughter who is made to paint but dreams of making jewellery who becomes a talented art forger to help save the family's business and way of life. Life has been normal until she sees a man watching the jewellery shop for the last few days. Is her world about to crumble?
Lord Lysander Bromley has lost many things lately but after his father's passing, he needs to help return what is not fully his. Before his father's death, Zander has been replaced his father’s priceless paintings with forgeries, helping his family out of debt by loaning the originals to an art collector.
The art collector has gone missing and his only lead is the one name Frampton.
This is my first time read of any books by Charlie Lane and I can assure you it's not my last as I enjoyed the plot, style and speed in which this story was told in.

The Art of Love series continues with another member of the Bromley family. Zander has made some questionable decisions to help his family but now he begins to pay the price with his father’s death and subsequent wishes. He needs to reconcile the original paintings with the forgeries. Fiona was the forger much to the shock of her family. As Zander and Fiona chase to fix the consequences of what has been done, their affection and longing for each other grows but can anything of consequence happen when they are so involved in the twisted past.
A fun read.

Book 2 of the Art of Love series. There was once a financially irresponsible marquess who spent his money on art instead of his estate and family and after his passing, he had given away all of the art except for a select few paintings that his children would earn by creating a their own piece of art to their mother’s satisfaction. Unfortunately, the paintings left in their house were forgeries, orchestrated by second son Zander, who rented out the originals in times of financial need. Now that the family knows which paintings are meant to be the inheritance, Zander tries to reclaim the originals but finds the old woman he dealth with (and the artwork) missing. His investigation leads him to find the art forger, who is the daughter of a jeweler, Fiona, and is just as distressed with the disappearance of the old woman and many other counterfeit paintings that could see her hanged. Zander and Fiona team up to track down the woman and the paintings and find themselves in love along the way, although Zander is hesitant to offer anything permanent as he’s in no financial position to marry.

I loved it!! Its a classic, cozy romance novel with a lil spice. Happily ever after and a feel-good reads.

my first from this author and will not be my last. I really enjoyed this story and author writing. I will read more of them. Read it today.

What an adorable romp this story is! I loved how Fiona’s mind wandered almost incessantly. Reminded me of my dog- all you had to say was “squirrel” and he was off, chasing it! (Just like fFiona’s thoughts) Zander was deliciously different than most hero’s and his love of imperfections was so delicious! I was a bit put out (not really) by the way they kept saying the 60 year old Matron they were trying to find was so fast- not all of us “old ladies” are slow and crippled! The banter was funny, the dragon adorable and the hero swoon-worthy! A great read!
I received this ARC copy for free and these are my own opinions.

Book one was a very enjoyable read and while it is not completely necessary, I think reading it first will help with understanding the plot and what the forgery business and Zander going after the forger is really all about.
Zander is the black sheep of the family, the bad boy, who enjoys stirring up trouble. Well he finds it in spades when it is discovered that he has had some of his father's very pricey paintings forged and the forgeries are hanging in the family gallery not the priceless originals, as he as sold them! Making it even worse for Zander is discovering that the paintings left to him and his siblings by their father's will are the very paintings that he has sold!! These paintings are the siblings only inheritance and they all have been counting on the income from them. Zander is ridden with guilt and vows to get the original paintings back. This leads him toa jewelry store and to Fiona, a dreamer and a artist who doesn't even want to paint, she wants to design jewelry in her father's store.
Fiona, like Zander has a guilty secret also, can two guilty people right their wrongs and make a go of it together?
Enjoyable, fast-paced fun! This one is just as good, maybe better than the first, can't wait to see what transpires in the next installment!!
Thank you to Charlie Lane and to Net Galley for the free ARC, I am leaving my honest review voluntarily.

Fiona and Zander are both living lives they are unhappy with, for the benefit of their families. They both feel bad about themselves, because they consider themselves failures. They meet when a mutual acquaintance disappears and they find their lives tied together. Working together they find a growing attraction, which is written with humor and, ultimately, passion. I really enjoyed their story and look forward to the next book in the series.

A father’s unorthodox will, a missing set of original and forged paintings, the son who needs them back and a forger who will do anything for her family. It is a journey of self discovery and their passion for art and each other and finding their self worth. Steamy, adventurous, and lovely characters.
I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley and leaving my review voluntarily.

The covers of this author's work have always caught my eye. So now I'm finally reading one of her books! The content did not disappoint. The story of Zander and Fiona was a fun adventure. There was danger, mystery, action and plenty of steam. The conversations were witty. Zander's brother Theo is also featured in this book along with his future love interest. Their upcoming story sounds very promising.
This was a refreshing read with only a little bit of angst. Zander worried that he wouldn't be able to support a wife. Fiona wanted her family to appreciate her. Once the pieces of their future life together began to fall into place, both of them were smart enough to grab the happy ending that they deserved.
I received a free ARC from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

Forgery, Love, and Other Lies is the second book in Charlie Lane’s Art of Love series. While this could potentially be read as a standalone, it makes much more sense to know the history of the forgeries and importance of the paintings at the heart of the story which the first book provides in more detail. The male protagonist, Lysander (Zander) Bromley, is the fourth son of a marquess. He has become an art curator to help support himself and his family after his father’s draining of the family estate. In book one, we learn that Lysander had his father’s treasured Rubens paintings forged so he could rent the originals to a wealthy collector. This book follows Lysander as he tries to retrieve the paintings which are the only inheritance left to each of the five Bromley children (all adults now). This quest brings Zander into contact with the forger, Fiona Frampton, daughter to a jeweller. Fiona is a strong and independent-minded 23-year-old who balks at her family’s pressure to keep her out of the jewellery business. She is expected to be an artist. Once Lysander and Fiona meet, the book follows their search for the paintings, both the originals and the forgeries (forgery being a capital offence and punishable by hanging). Sparks eventually fly as the two get to know each other and form more than just an alliance.
Many things worked well in this novel. Charlie Lane’s writing is exquisite. It’s both lyrical and humorous by turns. The characterization is well thought out and the main characters are very likable. Zander and Fiona’s growing attraction is believable, the chemistry palpable, and there’s lots of steam in the second half of the book. I enjoyed the novel setting of a jewellery shop, and it was refreshing that both characters were trying to help the financial struggles of their respective families with neither having the ability to swoop in and save the other. I particularly liked the way Zander likened Fiona to a dragon and admired her for her ferocious tenacity. Fiona’s willingness to follow her own desires and to verbalize them to Zander made me like her even more.
The novel has a slow start. I didn’t particularly enjoy the first 30 % of it, but things picked up after that. I did find a few things puzzling. Fiona is said to be pushed into becoming an artist to preserve propriety. She’s not allowed to design and make jewellery, we’re told, because it isn’t an acceptable female occupation. However, for women in this time (1822), neither is being an oil painter. Lane gets around this a bit by saying her paintings aren’t meant to be sold, but it still puzzled me. Overall, a good book but not as captivating as the first. We get a short glimpse of younger brother Theo near the end, and his appearance did whet my curiosity, so I’m looking forward to the third book in the series. I recommend this book to readers who like a bit of mystery and intrigue along with their steamy romance, who appreciate a different setting to the usual Regency set romances, and who appreciate excellent writing.

Interesting and unusual historical romance. Quirky characters with good dialogue and a bit of a mystery.

While trying to track down the original paintings his father had left himself and his siblings, Lysander finds himself in the company of Fiona a forger of his paintings. Together they need to find both sets of the paintings to save their families from ruin. I received an ARC from NetGalley and the author for my honest review.

This is a well written story which is action packed, emotionally charged, and with trust, humor, witty banter, suspense, intrigue, twists, and love, which leads to an entertaining, unpredictable, and steamy addictive page turner.

I really enjoyed this book. Fee is great and I love seeing her grow in to a person that demands what she wants from her family and Zander. This book had I feel like all the stuff I love a masquerade ball, romps in the dark, Zander’s speech about how he wants to give her everything , and a little bit of jealous. I think I would like to have seen what happens between the Duke and Posey as well but the glimpses of Theo and his Lady friend make me very excited for the next book as well.
Note: why are all the older women in this series wailers. Should I wail more?
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC for my honest opinion.

I think it’s best to read book 1 to understand the setup with the family debt and paintings, but you can get caught up easily enough.
Fiona’s a daydreamer with a guilty conscience who feels useless because her family won’t accept her jewelry designs. Zander took longer to get to know but he also wants to help his family and, for all his confidence, feels less than. He’s found a place buying artwork for the highest bidders. They’re both desperate to undo their part in the forgery scheme.
This didn’t pick up for me until about %30. I almost gave up, but once we got to them working together I got into the story, even though it turned out to be pretty low stakes. There were an alarming number of proofreading misses that I have to mention in the hopes this is reviewed again before release day. I’m hopeful Theo’s story will be more like book 1.
I received an arc from NetGalley

Zander has secretly replaced his father’s priceless paintings with forgeries, helping dig his family out of debt by loaning the originals to an art collector. After his father dies and he finds out that they are part of the inheritance, he wants the originals back but the collector has disappeared, along with the paintings. So he goes after the forger and to his astonishment that forger is a woman; Fiona. She forged the paintings to get her family out of debt. After her secret came out Fiona and Zander try to hunt down this collector and recover the paintings.
The pace of the book was slow and I had trouble keeping my attention to the story. I had a hard time connecting to the characters. The twist and turn was funny but not surprising, a bit of an anti-climax.
I found two spelling errors:
-‘notasked’ should of course be ‘not asked’.
-‘cool a gaze as he could manage’ needs a . at the end of the sentence.
I received and reviewed an advanced copy of this book and I am grateful for this opportunity. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Charlie Lane, is one of this authors that can pull you inside a story like not many authors can.
This story has humor, love and some steamy scenes as well. I personally loved the characters of this book and I can`t wait to read the next one in the series "His Mistress, His Muse, and Other Madness"
Lord Lysander Bromley, is Marquess of Waneborough`s brother (from the book Portraits, Passion and Other Pastimes.) and the person responsible for the lost of the paintings left as inheretance from their father. In his journey to find them, he find himself faced with Miss Fiona Frampton who is this creative, beautiful funny and intelligent girl. Their journey is a lovely story, nicely narrated that you would not want to miss. I just wished that the plot had more suspense and action.
I somehow expect the next book to be funnier because Lord Theodore Bromley seems to be a very stern and strong character that has the funniest thoughts and opinions.
I`m grateful to be authorized to review this book ahead of time! it was the highlight of my day!
