I first came to David B. Coe's work through his DB Jackson book Thieftaker. I was impressed by the worldbuilding, characterization, and magic system in that story, and the same holds true in The Chalice War: Sword. Fans of David B. Coe will find more to love in this epic fantasy!

In this third and possibly final installment I must say I have been enjoying this series. This one has a slower start than the previous two. It really doesn't pick up in energy and conflict until about 30% in. But when it does you are in for a ride. Our characters from the prisonous books all come together for a daring and dangerous infiltration of the below to search for the one item that may save magic on earth. We have challenges galore, Gods getting heavily involved and traitors to the Fomóire cause recruited. This is an exciting world with clashing magics, under realms and danger around every corner. I was mostly satisfied with this book I just wish It jumped into the action sooner.
