23 year old best friends and room-mates Nolan and Drew are trying to make a life for themselves in New York City. Nolan, a struggling comedian who is determined to become rich and famous, makes selfish decisions that negatively impact his relationships in pursuit of that goal.
When Nolan makes a wish on a set of magic crystals, he wakes up seven years in the future - with all his dreams having come true: he’s now a successful, wealthy and celebrity comedian. But he has no memory of the previous years. Worse than that, as he reaches out to the people he loves, he realizes his future self has managed to alienate every single one of them.
Now Nolan must find a way to return to his own time, to a place where he still has a chance to profess his love for Drew, and find out whether Drew feels the same way about him. This LGBTQIA+ romance is a sweet novel with loveable characters, exploring themes of growing up, forgiveness, family, friendship, and finding happily ever after with your person, no matter the obstacles.
This novel is the third in a series, but is a standalone read and is recommended for those who enjoy storylines that feature time travel, coming of age and friends to lovers narratives or mystical elements.
Perfect for fans of 13 Going on 30 and Emma Straub’s This Time Tomorrow.
The narrator Mark Sanderlin did a fantastic job of voicing this heartwarming and funny story.

*I received an audio ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.*
This was SUCH a fun read (listen?) I kept wanting to come back to the audiobook, and while I love audiobooks, I haven’t had one that held my attention so well in a long time!
I really enjoyed the narrator, I think he was the perfect choice.
Nolan Baker is, to be quite blunt, a self absorbed ass, which I think is kind of de rigueur for comedians. I won’t lie, he was annoying for the first couple of chapters, but Janovsky’s writing style was enough to keep me interested, and Nolan was just cringe enough to keep my attention without putting me through second-hand embarrassment. Anyway, he loves his roommate but wants to be in a better place before telling him he loves him. At his sister’s wedding, some magical crystals send him forward in time to his 30 year old body, who is even more of a self absorbed ass. He’s estranged from everyone who mattered to him, but he’s rich and famous.
So this is kind of like Thirteen Going on Thirty meets Boyfriend Material? Boyfriend Material isn’t quite the right comp, but if you like that one, you’ll like this. Also great for fans of Casey McQuiston and Courtney Kae.
Thank you to Netgalley, Dreamscape, and Timothy Janovsky for this arc.

Think “13 Going on 30” vibes but make it gay and more like “23 Going on 30”.
I really enjoyed this book, the character development was so good even for the side characters. The plot was also really interesting, the pacing of the book, and the time travel were all done so well.
Nolan is a bit of a mess and I'm very much here for it. He was very well-written and had flaws, made mistakes, and had good character development. Drew was amazing and I would definitely want to be best friends with him for the book recs alone. I loved his character so much. It wasn't specifically mentioned but Drew gave off demisexual vibes I'm my opinion.

True to form, Timothy Janovsky delivered yet another novel exploring how what we want may not be what we need, and what we need was right in front of us the whole time. Young Adult is hilarious (hello, it's about an aspiring comic) without losing the weight of the overarching themes and venturing into comedy. Nolan is an aspiring comic, & puts a little too much faith in crystals after the best night of his life becomes a total cluster, but he wakes up 7 years later to all of his dreams come true. Nolan then wonders if having everything he ever wanted was actually what he needs to be happy.
I, too, can get bogged down into the "can we skip to the good part" mentality and lose sight of what truly matters in favor of what I truly want (don't we all at some point?). I love how all of the characters, not just Noaln grow during his journey back to his original timeline and his 23-year-old self. Have you ever sped up an audiobook because you NEEDED to know what happened? I actually slowed this one down because I never wanted it to end, both the story and the incredible delivery by Mark Sanderlin as narrator
Mark Sanderlin delivered yet another stellar performance as narrator, making these characters even more charming and lovably flawed.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape for this amazing audiobook.
New Adult was a funny, sweet and inspiring story with major "13 (23) going 30" vibes and I ate it up!
Nolan is a 23 years old guy that just want to become the next big comedian. He lives in New York with his best friend Drew, which he is in love with but doesn't want to commit until he is living a fulfilled life with a thriving career.
When Nolan perfect sister gets married he faces all his life struggles and the criticism from friend and family about his non existent career and general life choices,
During the wedding, a big shot comedian calls Nolan to fit a spot in the show that will start in an hour and Nolan decides to leave his sister big day, his best friend and all his family to go and take a chance his dream.
I loved the dynamics that rises when Nolan wakes up 7 years after and realizes he was a shitty person, doesn't have a contact with anyone from his past and yes, he is a big shot comedian, rich and famous, but he is alone.
The love story between he and Drew is so sweet and warm. They are able to fall in love times and times again, even after Nolan behavior and Drew reluctance, even after time travels, and stolen kisses. 😭🥰
But this book is so much more than a love story in between two best friends.
This book is about finding your place in the world, about knowing that family (the one you are given and the one you choose) is there for you no matter what, that sometimes we misinterpret our loved one actions just because we are different and face stuff in different ways.
Concluding I just can say that I really liked this book.
I didn't give it 5 stars just because I would have liked a Drew pov at some point, but really it s a minor thing.
Also I loved the actor who gave voice to Nolan! he was sooo good and made me fall in love with both Nolan and Drew.
PS Drew is so perfect. I loved him from the first line. I fell in love with him with Nolan, all the times.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
I did not know this book would contain time travel when I first started it, but I think it was very well done. I really loved how Nolan evolved throughout this book because at first he was whinny and so damn annoying. The character progression was great and the romance in the book was so sweet.

Inspired by 13 going on 30, this was a fun time-travel based romance about 23-year-old Nolan, who ditches his sister's wedding (leaving his best friend, Drew, alone at a key moment) to take a chance on his dreams of being a stand up comic. The next day he wakes up in the body of his 30-year-old self. He's successful, wealthy, and he has a fancy apartment and the dog he always wanted, but at the cost of his family and Drew, who are all estranged from him.
This is a very fun, light-hearted novel that compares the importance of career with family and friends, asks us which one we would choose if we could only choose one. Nolan is a chaotic but fun main character and it was nice to see his growth over the course of the book, even if some of the moral messages were a bit predictable. Drew ended up being my favourite character; he was kind, thoughtful, and realistic, and loved books, which is always a win.

What a fun book! I am absolute fan of audiobooks and this one was so much fun to listen to. I didn't want it to end! I will definitely recommend this book for purchase at my library!

New Adult is a wonderful romcom with a magical twist that will keep you on your toes while also providing a warm hug.
In this story we follow Nolan, a 23 year old aspiring stand up comedian living with his best friend Drew (who he might have feelings for). Nolan would give anything for a chance of stardom - and when the opportunity presents itself, he ditches his sister's wedding to make his dreams come true. Cue some magical crystals and a 13 Going on 30 twist and Nolan wakes up seven years in the future, where his life is full of fame and money, but his family and his best friend don't talk to him anymore. Can Nolan make it back to his timeline while also winning back his family and his chance at true love with his friend-turned-almost-lover-turned-enemy?
I absolutely LOVED this twisty little romance! Nolan had such a fantastic character development and honestly it really made me think about this capitalist, gotta win at all costs, little world of ours. Nolan's slow realization that it's usually the people you should fight for, made me melt a bit and Drew was such a perfect love interest that I maybe shed a tear or two or twenty.
Nolan's sister was a freaking firecracker and honestly one of my favourite side characters! The whole family dynamic aspect was wonderful and I wish more romances focused on that as well. So much of what Nolan did was connected to his family and the way he was determined to get back to them and I loved that.
This review is all rambly and starry-eyed, but that's what my reviews are usually like when I love the book. But all in all - New Adult is a beautiful romance with a magical twist that will take you back to your favourite early 2000s romcoms (minus the problematic aspects and lack of queer rep). I highly recommend!

I’m so pleased I tried another book by Janovsky - I didn’t love the last one I read (I found Matthew Prince (book 2 in this series) quite immature for what it was supposed to be, and while I didn’t DNF it, I came close), but I definitely did LOVE this one! It was incredible!
New Adult was a breath of fresh air compared to what I’ve been reading recently - I was in a reading slump of disappointing books and this story brought me back up. The plot was totally fresh and super unique. I didn’t know what to expect with a time travel storyline, but it was super-well done! I loved how he wrote it, before, during and after the jump. The characters, the relationships - everything was absolutely perfect. I also wasn’t sure, going in, about a comedian character. Loved that and his growth, especially with the time travel arc!
Nolan, his relationship with his family, most especially his sister, and his former best friend and roommate - all are super special bonds and Janovsky did such a great job writing them in all the different time periods, the crazy company in the background (Doop), just everything … all so well done! And… the book! (the fictional book. You’ll understand when you read, but as soon as this was mentioned a whole lot was unlocked and I figured out where it was going)
I definitely recommend this one - especially the audio, narrated by Mark Sanderlin, who did a brilliant job. He’s a new voice to me (I know, I’m always surprised too, because I listen to so much), but I really enjoyed his performance. Great job!
I received an advance read and listen copy from NetGalley, Sourcebooks Casablanca and Dreamscape Media, and this is my honest feedback.

The early 2000’s rom-com vibes are immaculate in this queer 13 Going on 30 reimagining!
23 year old Nolan is in a slump. He’s waiting for his comedy career to take off so that he can finally prove to his family he’s got his life together and reveal his true feelings to his best friend Drew with a solid foundation to build their romantic relationship on. When he’s offered the career chance of a lifetime he chooses comedy over his friends and family… and then wakes up a famous comedian, 30 years old, and an absolute asshole that burned every bridge to every person he ever cared about.
I thoroughly enjoyed the journey Nolan went on and the absolutely ADORABLE romance with Drew had me kicking and screaming through the vast majority of this book (all Janovsky books tend to have this effect).
I listened to the audiobook of this one and Mark Sanderlin did a fantastic job on the narration! His tone was perfect for this book!
Special thanks to Dreamscape Media for providing me with the audiobook of this one!

New Adult by Timothy Janovsky
Narrator, Mark Sanderlin
Boy Meets Boy, book 3
I am a sucker for time travel, redemption of a character, and, of course a mostly happily ever after.
On that note, this is a small TW for some people about Alzheimer’s disease. It's a little tough for those of us who have had relatives who have suffered from dementia but it is handled well.
Yes, Nolan is a horse’s patoot initially and maybe his transformation is abrupt but he does have a pretty severe jolt that leads to the change in his behavior. It is a little Scrooge-like.
The only thing I was a bit disappointed in was, although it may be obvious to some, it is never clearly mentioned that Drew is demi-sexual, That term is never mentioned in the book and it might be useful information for some.
The narrator was excellent. I intend to go back and listen to the first two books in this series.

Nolan is a 23-year-old aspiring comedian who is a bit self-centered at times and makes some choices that lead to him having a falling out with his family and his best friend and roommate Drew. After destroying his relationships, he makes a wish on some healing crystals and wakes up 7 years later, living his dream life. Except, being a famous comedian is not all it seems, and his family and best friend are still out of the picture.
This story is all from Nolan’s perspective and focuses on his character development as he grows up, figures out his priorities, and rebuilds his relationships. The audiobook narrator (Mark Sanderlin) did such an amazing job, I could not stop listening to this book and ended up binging it in one day. 🫢
13 Going On 30 is such a fun movie, and this M/M romance gives off the same vibes. There’s something about the time travel/ glimpse into your future aspect that I really enjoy reading about. It was cute and heartwarming and it made me laugh. What more could I ask for?
Nolan & Drew were so cute together and they complemented each other so well. I loved reading about their friends-to-lovers story. There was pining, there was humor, there was steam!
Favorite things:
Humorous writing
Friends to lovers
Mushy gushy nerds
Coming of age story
M/M romance
“You wanted the fame, I only ever wanted you.” 🥹 Aw, Drew…
This book is out now, so check it out!
Thank you, Dreamscape Media and NetGalley, for providing an ARC of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

NEW ADULT was everything I've wanted from the "new adult" genre. It started with an MC who was a little self-centered at 23 years old, but when he wakes up into his 30-year-old life, he quickly grows up and sorts his priorities out. Nolan's character growth is incredible, and it's so fun to read. It's a coming-of-age story that's SO WORTH IT as the MC goes from mildly unlikeable to a real adult in the most heartwrenching and heartwarming way.
Y'all, this book is so. cute. Drew and Nolan's relationship was so much fun to read through all its stages: friends to enemies to friends to lovers. Drew is such a sweetheart.
Mark Sanderlin nailed this narration. I was so hooked by the story and listened to the audiobook nearly straight through.
If you like time travel, 13 Going On 30, crystals, or sweet M/M romance, make sure you read this book! I'm already excited for Timothy's next book coming this January.

I listened to the audiobook version, and the narrator did an amazing job! I couldn't stop listening to the book! It was such a fun, time travel romance!
Nolan goes to bed as a 23 year old and he wakes up as a 30 year old! He wakes up in a house that he doesn't recognize and he's next to a man that he doesn't recognize either! Nolan's life is changed after he gets some magical crystals. He makes a wish to manifest his dreams, and he puts them under his pillow. When he wakes up, he has aged 7 years, but he doesn't have any memory of it.
As a 30 year old, he doesn't have a relationship with his family anymore, and he has lost his best friend, Drew. He has been in love with Drew for years, and they finally had a moment, but Nolan blew it. Nolan must know figure out his new life as a 30 year old, and he needs to figure out how to fix all of his past mistakes.
I've read other books by Timothy Janovsky, and this one is my favorite! I really enjoyed the narration in the audiobook, and I finished the book in one day! I loved it!
Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an ALC of this book.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an ALC of this!
Another great lil M/M romance for the books!
I really loved the friends to lovers aspect of this book! Also everything the MC goes through and the realizations about his life and family were super hard hitting and emotional. I had a lot of fun and was invested, though didn't love this quite as much as Janovsky's other books.

4.5 stars!
I loved Timothy Janovsky's "New Adult." I could not put this book down, and I read it sooo ridiculously fast. It's like a New York comedian-centered queer retelling of "13 Going on 30" meets Casey McQuiston's "One Last Stop." I was here for every single minute of it. While the premise of this book is familiar, Janovsky's astute observations about life and love make it feel fresh and new. His writing is sharp, witty, hilarious, comforting, gratifying, and devastating all at the same time. The story revolves around the main character, Nolan, getting the shocking opportunity to look into his future. He sees that his professional and monetary successes have cost him everything: his family, friends, morals, comedic style, and most importantly, the love of his life, his best friend Drew. This book is all about regrets, doing things differently, not getting "lost in the sauce," growing from your mistakes, staying true to who you are, and not waiting to tell people how you feel about them. I adored the characters here, especially because they are imperfect but are willing to change. Nolan's personal maturation by the end of the story was absolute perfection to me. I loved Drew so, so much, and loved Drew and Nolan together. I feel lucky to have been able to read this lovely, hilarious, touching, sexy, mystical novel!
Mark Sanderlin gives a fantastic audiobook narration that really adds to the charm and wit of the story. I implore you, however: go into this book knowing as little as possible about the plot for the most overall enjoyment. I cannot wait to read Timothy Janovsky's next novel!!
Thank you to NetGalley, Timothy Janovsky, and Dreamscape Media for the complimentary ALC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.

I really enjoyed this book! I love Timothy Janovsky’s works, I read every book of him and this one is so great! It’s my favorite so far! It’s more mature and the plot is more complex and I was really captivated by it. The actor who read it was amazing, I loved this reading so much!
Can’t wait for more!
THANK YOU NETGALLEY AND THE PUBLISHER FOR THIS ARC!

The New Adult is my favorite in the series. I love how Janovsky focuses on character growth and learning from your mistakes. These were also my favorite characters of any in the series.
Normally I don’t enjoy books with time travel but this one was done well and gave me all the feels.
A special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced readers copy of this one!

Thank you to @sourcebookscasa and @libro.fm for my review copies of New Adult!
I devoured this book in 24 hours, it was absolutely delightful! I went into it completely blind, which was extra fun.
Think “13 Going on 30,” except a 23-year-old jumping into his 30-year-old self. 23-year-old Nolan dreams of being a comedian, and will sacrifice any social event - whether it’s a fancy dinner with the parents of the guy he’s dating or his own sister’s wedding - for a shot at fame.
After alienating his family and best friend Drew (who he’s secretly had a crush on for years), Nolan makes a wish on a gift of healing crystals…and wakes up 30 years old and at the top of his comedy career. The catch? He no longer speaks to his family or best friend.
New Adult is a lighthearted rom com, but it also explores the nature of a career like comedy. As someone who spent some time pursuing an acting career, I think Janovsky could have leaned into the pressure to give up anything for a chance at comedy even more. As a teenager and college student, I was told on numerous occasions that if I wasn’t willing to give up everything to be an actor I should quit, including being told as a 10 year old that if I wasn’t willing to eat a hamburger for a commercial I really wasn’t cut out to be an actor. (Since I stopped eating meat when I was 5, if I accidentally eat something containing meat I basically get food poisoning. But the show must go on, right?) I miss acting, but I do not miss how all-consuming it was.
🎧 Mark Sanderlin brought Nolan and the rest of the cast to life so well! The book did well as an audiobook, even with the magic time jump there wasn’t anything that made the story hard to follow.
