This is the queer 13 going on 30 we didn’t even know we needed.

Interesting story. The key plot point of the book doesn’t really kick off until 25% of the way into the book. I had only glanced at the blurb so I was blind going into this book. I think that made it better in a lot of ways.

I was thrilled that Drew gets on board with Nolan being displaced in time. The two of them were so good working together to get Nolan back to his time, even if that mean losing each other.

They were just wonderful.

Over all great book. 5 big stars

Nolan Baker has one dream, to make it big as a comic, it's all he's ever wanted to do and he'll do anything to get it, even missing the big meeting with his boyfriend's parents or leave in the middle of his sister's wedding. He just cannot wait to be a star. A few crystals later, he wakes up and he's not longer 23 but 30 and he's famous! But everyone he used to love hates his guts? What can he do now? He turns to the only person he can. His ex-best-friend who he's been in love with forever. Except things didn't turn out so well there either...

I do not read summaries. I really should have for this one cause I was expecting a contemporary and it wasn't one which wouldn't be a problem for most people but I'm very strict with my tbr. Anyway. I still enjoyed this book quite a lot. The main character was insufferable for a lot of it but we love to see growth and character development. That's was the whole book was about really. Definitely a character driven story and I enjoyed it a lot. I liked the plot too. It took me by surprise but I was all in. I also really enjoyed the Love Interest, the romance as well as the other relationships in the story. I found the parents and sibling dynamics super interesting most of all. And I enjoyed seeing all these characters grow.
Basically, this was really fun and captivating and redeemed this series for me after I really disliked the second one. I cannot wait for more from this author. He writes such interesting and compelling characters.

Narrator: the narrator chosen for this book did a wonderful job bringing the character and story to life. They are how I would picture the main character sounding.

Story: If you love 13 Going on 30 you’ll love this book! It was funny, heartwarming and all around a great read. The story drew me in from the start. The characters were interesting and felt like real people.

Highly recommend picking up this book!

This author has become an auto read for me.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the audiobook ARC.

Nolan wants to be a famous comedian. He's willing to do anything to get there and he has the support of his best friend, Drew, to help him focus all his energy on that. They've been friends forever and are now roommates in New York City helping each other work towards their dream goals. Things appear to moving into a deeper relationship until Nolan runs out of his sister's wedding to take on a comedy gig and let's his family and Drew down just when they needed him most.
That same night, Nolan uses some crystals from the goodie bag sponsored by the mysterious wellness company his sister works for and he ends up seven years in the future, a successful comedian but also completely alone. It's now up to Nolan to fix his relationships and figure out what it truly is he wants out of life.
At its core, it's a story I've read before, but something about the way it's written and how easy it is to empathize with Nolan made it a fresh page-turner. I wanted to see how Nolan handled seeing where his path would take him and how he slowly realized that the choices he was making at 23 would affect his life at 30 if he didn't wake up and pay attention to something other than his goals of being a famous comedian.
The narration by Mark Sanderlin is solid and hits all the major emotional points in the scenes perfectly, but I would have liked a bit more distinction between characters in conversations because I sometimes couldn't figure out who said what. Not enough to mess with the story but noticeable.
Another excellently sweet romance from Janovsky, who I'm starting to think is incapable of writing unlikeable characters.

Very happy thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the entertaining read!

23 year old Nolan just made a life altering decision - having the “Mr. of Honour” leave in the middle of his sister’s wedding to catch his big break in standup comedy definitely makes a statement. Drew, his roommate/wedding date/unrequited crush, isn’t happy with how Nolan acted, and when he leaves and requests space, Nolan finds himself drunkenly using the mysterious crystals hidden among the wedding favours. Little does he know, he’ll wake up 7 years later in his body, but with an entirely different life.

Loved the 13 going on 30 vibes of this book! Waking up dazed and confused about skipping 7 years and being a successful and love-hating comedian I also really appreciated that 23 year old Nolan was confused and disappointed with how he treated others right away.

The mysterious “Dupe” (lol at the shade) was a fun and silly instigator for the events of the book. It reminded me a little of “The Corporation” from Libba Bray’s Beauty Queens, but less hostile and monopolized.

I loved seeing Drew and Nolan reconnect, especially after Drew had so much bad blood that Nolan skipped right past. The bookstore, and Milkshake the corgi were special treats. The fact that 2030 is only 7 years away? Holy effing crap.

This was super fun, with great narration! I’d definitely recommend this one, especially if you’ve watched and loved 13 Going on 30!

I am loving Timothy Janovsky. This is the second book of his I’ve read. His character development is perfection.

“Can we get to the good part?”
Nolan finds skipping to the good part is not as great as he thought it would be, especially when magical crystals land him 7 years in the future. He goes to the only person he thinks will believe him, Drew. Only problem is that Drew hates him now.

A wonderfully witty lgbtqia+ story.

Twenty-three year old Nolan Baker is an aspiring comedian and he’s been working hard to make his dream come true. But with his sister’s wedding approaching and it looking like he’s going to have to attend sans date, he decides it’s time to call it quits on comedy and ask his best friend (and roommate and long-time crush) Drew Techler to be his date to the wedding. Things start looking up though when he’s asked to fill in last minute for a famous comedian…during his sister’s wedding reception. He decides that he can just slip out during dinner and return before his speech, but he is very sorely mistaken. With everyone (his sister, his parents, and even Drew) disappointed in him, Nolan makes a wish on a set of crystals that he received in a wedding favor bag…and wakes up the next morning with everything he ever wanted - except the people he loves most in the world.

Because I can’t skip books in a series (even when the series is a series of standalone), I quickly binged the first two books NEVER BEEN KISSED and YOU’RE A MEAN ONE, MATTHEW PRINCE before I dove into this one. And while I am glad that I did it, it was definitely a personal choice and not a necessity. That being said, I can now confidently say that I will read every single thing that Timothy Janovsky writes from here until eternity.

Janovsky writes main characters that make me want to rip my hair out when we first meet them but weasel into my heart by the last page and Nolan is no exception. He starts off confident in his abilities (which we love), but he’s also fairly selfish, putting importance on the wrong things in life to the detriment of his relationships (romantic and otherwise). But as the story unfolds, Nolan goes on a beautiful journey and transforms into a different person. It is so subtle and so authentic that I don't think I really even noticed it until we're punched in the face with it by the end.

I am and forever will be a huge fangirl of 13 Going On 30 and so this story hit all the right notes for me. Speaking of which, the hotel in which Nolan’s sister’s wedding is held is called the Flamhaff Hotel (or at least that’s what it sounded like on the audiobook!) and I absolutely cannot believe that that is an accident. (Matty Flamhaff 5ever! IYKYK.)

Oh and speaking of adorable cinnamon roll love interests? Drew is absolutely swoon worthy. While I was definitely rooting for a friends-to-lovers finale for Nolan and Drew, I am unashamed to say that it was mostly so that Drew would get the HEA. (By the end, it was also for Nolan because his growth was magical, but Drew had my heart from the very start.)

The audiobook is narrated by Mark Sanderlin who also narrated the other two books in the series and once again knocks it out of the park. I’m not sure how to properly explain it, but Nolan felt different from the start of the book to the end and it wasn’t just in the words that were being read. Sanderlin seemed to be able to infuse the different versions of Nolan with a different voice, the beginning of the book sounding more whiny and selfish while the end sounding like someone who has figured out what is actually important in life. I don’t know if that’s just how I perceived it because of what happened throughout the book or if it was some actual vocal magic, but I loved it.

nolan baker knows what he wants his life to look like by the time he’s 30: a great stand-up career and a relationship with his best friend and roommate drew. for now, he’s 23, single, and struggling to afford his life in nyc. luck finally strikes, giving him a spot with a hot shot comedian. the only problem is it’s during his sisters wedding. he ditches the wedding, upsetting those closest to him and stranding himself in the hotel without drew. he desperately wishes on a gifted set of magical healing crystals and wakes up seven years later where all of his dreams have come true, but none of his loved ones are talking to him anymore. his only source of help is drew. except drew hates him for something that happened in nolan’s missing seven years. as nolan tries to find his way back to his 23 year old self, he also has to prove to his loved one’s that he’s not the man everyone thinks he is.

i have loved 13 going on 30 since the first time i watched it as an angsty preteen, so i was so so excited for new adult. and… it did not disappoint!! all the magical moments from 13go30 were such fun to read in new adult. nolan was the perfect amount of unlikable 20 something to me, and his growth throughout the story was honestly moving to read about. nolan and drew were such a cute couple and their friends to kind of lovers to estranged enemies to lovers was the ultimate serve
(v much gave jennifer garner and mark ruffalo a run for their money imo)!! this was so cute and so magical and so charming!! mark sanderlin did a wonderful job on the audio and i’m glad i got to listen to it ahead of release!!

This was my first Timothy Janovsky book, and I am a convert. This was such a sweet, gay rom-com. One of my favorite movies is 13 Going on 30, so when I read the synopsis, I knew I couldn't wait to get my hands on it.

The story follows Nolan Baker as he tries to make a name for himself in the comedy world, but unbeknownst to him, his actions of always putting comedy first will have devastating consequences in his future. When he is magically transported seven years into the future, he is now a successful comedian but at a cost. Now, estranged from his family and best friend, he starts to come to terms with the fact that fame is not nearly as important if you don't have anyone to celebrate with.

Timothy does a great job of adding humor in between the heartfelt scenes to give readers a bit of a reprieve. The narrator was fantastic as well. The combination of both these talents created something fun and meaningful. I had so much fun listening to this wonderful, gay story, and I can't wait to read more by this author. I highly recommend this book!

Oh my god! You're telling me there is a 13 going on 30ish book out there! (It's actually 23 to 30, no teenagers here)

I loved it. I did think it was a bit slow in the beginning because I didn't know about the 13 going on 30 thing, but the way I screamed in my car when I realized what was going on. I loved Nolan and his struggled and man the way I was rooting for them. I was rooting for this whole situation to get fixed.

I loved the family aspect of the book and every little bit of this book. I highly recommend it. The audiobook is great.

I enjoyed this story! The narrator was great. I almost always wish for the other character’s point of view to add to the story but it worked out okay for this book. Nolan was a little annoying, so I really wasn’t surprised when his future life was the way it was. He was able to redeem himself and I really enjoyed that part of the story. Drew was the GOAT, I loved his character throughout the whole book. I’m glad Nolan learned from his mistakes and got to be the best version of himself in the end.

Thank you NetGalley & Dreamscape for the ALC!

I really quite enjoyed this from beginning to end. Like most, I didn’t agree with Nolans choices at the beginning, but I understood why he did it (receiving that one big break that he has been waiting for) it’s just how he want about it. This story was filled with enjoyable characters and was a very charming read. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

Such a cute rom-com. It started a bit slow and I wasn't sure I was going to finish it, but I am glad I stuck through - once the story took off I was enthralled. Aspiring Comedian Nolan Baker makes a wish and transports himself to another time. This book gave me the feels of movies of my youth and made me enjoy it that much more. In the end does he make it back and right all of his wrongs? Well you'll need to read it to find that out, but I would recommend you do!

While I started off enjoying this Groundhog Day-inspired romcom, I ultimately found it fairly grating and didn’t really enjoy it. Nolan was a frustrating protagonist, and I didn’t love the goofiness of the basic magical plot line. I think lots of readers will love these aspects of the book, though, so I’d recommend it to plenty of others.

First I would like to thank Dreamscape Media for providing me a copy of the audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

New Adult is the story of Nolan, stand-up comedian, who has been trying to catch his "big break" for the last few years. While serving as the "guy of honor" to his sister at her wedding he gets the call he has been waiting for and dips out leaving his best friend and crush, Drew, to make excuses. When he returns to the wedding everyone has left him but he receives a special party favor which he uses that night. When he wakes up its been 7 years and everything he knew has changed. Will Nolan's jump in time be everything he wanted or will he do everything in his power to get back and fix what he broke?

What I Liked:
- Narrator, I really enjoyed the narration of this book and one of my favorite parts is there is a small child who appears and the voice he has for that character is just amazing
- Comedian, there aren't a lot of books out there with stand up comics so it was fun to have a main character with such a niche job
- Drew, this guy sounds hot as hell and all he wants to do is open a bookstore. Also even after the "dark times" he is still willing to help Nolan cause he love him that much....swoon
- Dupe, this is the company who provided the special party favor and I'm always here for a cult like company who makes "unique" items
- Big, I loved watching the Tom Hanks smash hit Big growing up and I got a lot of those vibes from this book in the best way
- Pancake, this is future Nolan's corgi and I love an animal/pet in any story
- Series, this is the third in the series and I didn't even realize that until after I started the book. You don't miss anything by not reading the others and now I have two more books to add to my TBR.

I really enjoyed this book, with a friends to lovers romance, sci-fi elements, secret companies and a "Big" feel there is so much goodness within this book. The audiobook is a great experience to since its well produced and the narrator does a great job with differentiating the character. If you are looking for a friends to lovers queer romance with a "what-if" scenario lots of fun characters and a feel good ending then I would absolutely recommend this book to you.

This was a fun read. It’s a love story about two Firends that are in love with each other. One of them has to grow and change because he really need to focus on the things that really matter in life. He had to find this out the hard way. And this is his journey.

A time swap-contemporary romance, NEW ADULT honestly made me glad I have no desire to be a comedian and only some desire to work in New York City. It’s a fairly solid book but a very good audiobook (Mark Sanderlin has done it once again), and was a pretty fun read along the way! So if you’re looking for a fun read with some serious character growth by the end, I would recommend this book and especially the audiobook!

The hardest place to start in a romance novel is when I lowkey hate the main character. Like seriously there’s a little heavy lifting to get me to the point where I wanted him to have success and an HEA to boot. Nolan Baker is a mess, and a very self-absorbed one at that. At first it feels like it’s taking forever for him to actually learn and grow, but that might be me being overdramatic. However, the last 20% as he’s fully reconciling with his past and future actions is so deeply satisfying, like yes give me that platonic, romantic, and familial communication!

Romance wise, I think that Drew, the love interest is very endearing and honestly carries a decent amount of the romance aspect for the first half of this book. In some ways his character is a little 2D through Nolan’s eyes, but I enjoy getting to see him develop and grow alongside the relationship. The chemistry and tension and yearning is most definitely there the entire time though and I can certainly appreciate that.

All in all, I thought this book was pretty good, but I definitely think it wouldn’t have been as easy to get through if I wasn’t listening to the audiobook, which ultimately brought the story to life!

MY RATING 4,25/5 STARS

”We share a secretive, affirming smile as she overturns the last card in the reading and shows me my future.”

This was such a wonderful read. Nolan magically travels seven years into the future, and while he technically achieved all of his dreams, he quickly realizes the prices he had to pay for it to happen. He had become estranged from his friends and family and are now trying to undo all of the hurt he has caused them.

The relationship between Nolan and Drew was really great, and I loved seeing them come together in the future, reconnecting and strengthening that bond they had when they were younger.

The magical element was really fun, and I really enjoyed seeing them try to figure out how to get Nolan back to the present time.

If you know me, you probably also know that I adore audiobooks, so I was super hyped when I saw that I had gotten approved for this one too. I had previously listened to Never Been Kissed, so I already knew I liked the narrator, and how they’re able to immerse you into the story.

Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape and Sourcebooks Casablanca for providing me with an audioarc and an eARC of this book in exchange of an honest review.

3.5 stars. New Adult was another very enjoyable read from Timothy Janvosky. His books are quickly becoming auto-buy/auto-read for me! I will say that what the story was, was very cute and a fun twist on 13 going on 30 and Nolan Baker starts out as a character that you just want to throttle because of how poorly they've prioritized their life and loved ones. After choosing to fill a last minute spot at a comedy club he's been dying to perform at instead of staying at his older sister's wedding with his best friend/crush and letting down just about everyone in his life in pursuit of his comedy dreams, Nolan wakes up 7 years in the future at age 30 to see how much choosing comedy over family and friends has royally fucked up his life. While Nolan works hard to fix how this version of himself burnt bridges between his friends and family, I personally found his redemption lacking. I think it was how cookie-cutter and hallmark the ending was. Of course he gets to go home to age 23 and redo the day of the wedding, making better choices. I think it would have been a bit of a more interesting and compelling story if it actually committed to the idea that Nolan might be stuck in the future, unable to go back to his time, and actually have to make the best of this new situation where he has reconciled with his family and gotten together his his best friend. That being said, it was a fun read and would recommend it!
