The cover is gorgeous, but I DNF'd this book 8% in. I understand the Fey are tyrants, but I would have appreciated originality instead of basically copying and pasting the exeperiences and trauma of actual real life Indigenous people. Their stories are not meant to be told by white authors.

I’m sorry; I just didn’t enjoy this. Something felt like it was missing, and a lot of it felt rushed. I liked Asha + Tracie, but I wasn’t drawn in by their story. It was hard to get through. Idk why, but it just didn’t grab my attention at all. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t for me. :(

The concept of this book was wonderful. The world building was great. However, I didn’t enjoy the writing style at all. I also didn’t like the huge leaps in time between the chapters. It feel full of holes and rushed to me. However, that doesn’t mean this is a bad book; I just don’t think I’m the target audience for this style of writing.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this eARC of 'Tyranny of the Fey' by Terry Bartley.

'Tyranny of the Fey' is a speedy novella by a debut author. The cover? Gorgeous. The concept? Gorgeous. My qualm and why I didn't love it is just because the writing style wasn't my cup of tea. Does that make it a bad book? No, it's just not a book for me.
