ugh DNF :( just could not get into this one, despite typically loving KMod's fast paced stories. I've tried a few times and -- maybe it's the narrator -- but I just can't connect to this one. Sad!

KMod is always a pleasure to read. This one read as expected. Fast paced with interest throughout. Whenever I want to read something to take me away for awhile, I find one of her books. You are kept wondering what is going on until the end, so there’s a steady air of suspens

This was my first ever book by the author. It is fast paced and intriguing the way the themes and setting of the story is explained. The way she held off the actual villain and the hints to it till the very end!!

One thing I do feel about KMod books (having listened to a few after this one) is that they are very very romance heavy. This is 65- 35 mix of YA romance to thriller. Jaicey doesn't remember a lot of her recent past. Everybody is treating her like she is fragile and she cannot look into mirrors. She is trying to live a normal life again, going to school, and meeting friends, having crushes etc. But something seems amiss and something sinister related to her past is looming. Who can she really trust? will she ever remember her past? Who is actually dead?

Many thanks to Netgalley, Dreamscape Media and the author for the ALC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

KMod gets me yet again. For the first 65-70% of the book, I sat here listening high and mighty assuming I knew what was going to happen. The red flags were so obvious…weren’t they? No, no they weren’t. The major reveal was not at all what I anticipated which is really what I should have anticipated all along.

This book definitely has a young adult feel to it and really started out feeling like a teenage romance. Yet it quickly became apparent that something sinister was afoot and from there, things only progressed. Why can’t Jaicey look in the mirror? Why are all these people being so nice to her after years of torment and ignoring her? Didn’t she say her mom died?! In KMod fashion, this was spiral into crazy town and the ending was way more than I could have ever hoped for. I do wish it was drawn out a touch more, as it felt a little rushed at times, and I think it could have definitely made it to a full-length novel. (That bonus chapter at the end? Loved. Please give us more.)

Overall, though, a very solid read from KMod.
Tara Sands did a fantastic job narrating. My only complaint was that while she definitely had a distinct male and female voice, it was sometimes difficult to discern who was speaking in a scene if two people of the same gender were involved. She did really bring the story to life, though, and I’d definitely listen to one of her books again in the future.

The Missing Piece is another epic story of Kierstin Modglin. This one was filled with the twists and turns we have come to love from her storytelling. The kind that keep you up late into the night because you just got to know what happens next.

Tara Sands does an incredible job expertly narrating this audiobook. A great story with a great narrator. Such a page turner. A story told in a very unique way. You’ll be on the edge of your seat waiting for more clues!

A huge thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this ALC. the opinions are my own. I highly recommend this one. Between the author’s storytelling and the narrator’s ability to keep the listener captivated and hanging on to every word. I can’t recommend enough. 4 amazingly awesome stars!

As I’m listening to this, I know I am missing something (he he play on the name here) and I am running through everything I can think of to figure out the missing piece.

While Jaicey is young, this one didn’t scream I’m a kid like some YA books do. I liked her and kept wanting to scream warnings at her as I started to figure things out.

This one was quick and entertaining. It was fast paced and kept my attention. Tara Sands did a good job at the narration and along with the story kept me wanting more.

What in the trauma amnesia is this wow.
This story is about Jaicey who is kidnapped and tortured along with her best friend.
The descriptions are bad but not gruseome if that makes sense.
Due to the pain that she suffered her brain erased the entire event and backpeddled her life staying a freshman and the whole town is in on it.
As people in the town forget that they have to pretend the past didnt happen Jaicey slowly starts to suffer from confusion. As Jaicey tries to find love , her place and deal with everything around her in her foggy state she discovers her forgotten past didnt just catch up with her it was hell bent on destroying her.

I'll be honest, I had to restart this audiobook 5 times because I couldn't focus on much besides the voice actor's voice at first. I almost gave up and called it a lost cause, but I'm very glad I pushed through. The actual storyline was very well-written. It was suspenseful, captivating and kept me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what the heck was going on in Jaicey's mind. While it was a little hard to hear and contained some sensitive details at times, it's an excellent depiction of the extremes our own brains will go to in order to protect us from trauma we've endured and the strength we can find in ourselves once that cloud is lifted and the truth is remembered. And how we can get through anything if we just remember the support we have from everyone around us.

Big thanks to Dreamscape Media, Kiersten Modglin and NetGalley for providing me with this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

A story that will grab you from the beginning and not let go!

Why doesn’t Jaicey remember any of her relationships or memories with friends? Why won’t she look in a mirror? What happened when she was 15 years old? It was something that effects her every day, even though she does not remember. The Missing Piece gives us a great mixture of angst and romance in this action-packed novel. Highly recommended for fans of Colleen Hoover.

A captivating narration by Tara Sands. The audio was just released on Aug 8 and I highly recommend a listen.

3.5 rounded to 4. I enjoyed it so much.
Jaicey, a 15-year-old girl, is haunted by a mysterious incident when she meets Braydon. Despite her fear and shyness, Braydon attempts to open up, causing the house's mirrors to vanish. This unknown entity poses a dangerous threat to Jaicey's life, and as her memory begins to return, her life is put in jeopardy. The story is a suspenseful and fast-paced listen, with some surprises despite potential villains. Thanks to Kiersten Modglin, Dreamscape Media, and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen.

As a veteran K Mod reader, this one was good but not as good as her others! I had the twist figured out fairly early, but it was still a great read. I ended up listening to the audiobook, and it was fantastic. Highly recommend!!

This book starts slow, and not at all in the direction I was expecting. I did not read the synopsis before so I went in blank, as is my preferred method. The book began with our protagonists relationships- her family and her classmates. I was initially afraid the book was going to focus on her not fitting in at school or be more of a coming-of-age novel, but I should have known KMod wouldn't do that to me.

Despite the slow start, once the story takes off it really takes off. I was pleasantly surprised with the shift as I love a fast paced thriller. The ending twist was magnificent and one I didn't see coming until I was looking at the end of that train, Knowing what was about to happen. Another great thriller from Kiersten Modglin.

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for my audiobook copy of this novel

My thoughts: thank you so much @netgalley for the ARC of The Missing Piece. I’ve never read anything by this author, it’s one of her early books that was just recently made available in audio! The narrator was fantastic, this story idea is pretty wild. It gets cheesy in some parts, it felt like YA in some ways where everything is connected too perfectly to even make sense. But the story and plot were very unique and overall I enjoyed this one!

Something happened to Jaycee but she doesn’t remember and we don’t know either! The story twists and turns as we find out at the same time as Jaycee remembers what happened to her. It’s one twisted and creepy ride! 😱

This one had a YA vibe that reminded me of Karen McManus books. I questioning what exactly happened to Jaicey? And why are all the mirrors missing from their house?

I liked this one, but I think there just needed to be more to the story. I didn’t feel like I knew the characters well and felt a little underdeveloped. Coming at around 5.5 hours it was a quick read (listen, in my case). I enjoyed the second half of the story, especially after her past was revealed. The narrator was strong and the perfect choice for this book!

Not my top fave by this author, but of course I’m going to continue to pick up anything she writes!

Rating: 4/5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I made a point to read all of KMod’s backlist books, and with a few of them recently being released through NetGalley via ALCs I jumped on the opportunity to listen.

Something happened to Jaicey when she was 15 and everything changed, only she didn’t know it. Then Brayden transfers to her school and he pushes her to try to remember when everything changed. Only, once she starts remembering, she’s not sure shell ever be safe again.

The Missing Piece was I believe KMods first book written but third to be published? And in this book I can really see the authors twisty side already starting. I really liked this one! It felt a bit YA to me, which is no biggie for me, I love a good YA thriller, and in the beginning I was super confused (it all ends up making sense in the end). The story is super fast paced keeping you engaged the entire time. The end blew me away, it was true perfection; its thrilling, suspenseful, heart wrenching, its absolutely gutting; but at the same time there’s some beauty to this ending.

Tara Sands did a phenomenal job with this narration. I loved everything about it. It’s easy to listen to and super easy to follow along with.

You’ll be flipping the pages in this one to figure out what happened long past your bedtime. This book was first released in 2016 but the audio was just released on 8/8! It’s available on KU and I am highly recommending this one! KMod is amazing at hooking you in right from the start and not letting you go until that very last page!

Huge thank you to NetGalley, Kiersten Modglin and Dreamscape Media for the ALC in exchange for my honest review!
