While I thought the ending faltered a bit, The Missing Piece is a solid thriller. The story revolves around Jaicey, a rather odd teen. Something happened to her when she was fifteen but for the majority of the story we don’t know what that something is. We know she has no real memory of it, of her life before the incident because of what the people around her say and how she reacts (or doesn’t) to the comments they make. The lack of mirrors in her house and her aversion to them actually made me think the story was going another way. Then the new boy in school shows interest in her, begins to bring her out of her self imposed shell, but there is more to him than she knows. As I said the ending faltered a bit for me, once I knew what the incident was, but overall it’s a solid thriller and kept me engaged and listening. I’d like to thank Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to an advanced copy of the audio version of The Missing Piece.

This author is amazing. This narrator though- she made this book! She was perfect for this!
Our protagonist is a huge mess! She is mean to the one person who is into her, but also I get it, he was being so pushy.
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to listen and review it honestly.

I dont quite know how to feel about this book. It didnt read like an adult thriller, and while i understand a bit of having to suspend belief for thriller/mysteries, it was just really difficult to do that with this story. The characters fell a bit flat, and I didnt really find myself as intrigued by them as I’d hoped I would. It wasnt a BAD book, per se.. but it wasn’t one I’ll be remembering. The synopsis was really intriguing, which is why I wanted to read it in the first place, but it just didnt hold up the way I was hoping it would. Overall, I expected more out of this.

The Missing Piece is another hit from Kiersten Modglin. I can always count on her to deliver and entertaining thriller. With well-developed characters, unexpected twists, and a skillfully executed narration, this audiobook proves to be a rollercoaster of emotions and intrigue. This novel is a definite must-read for anyone who loves a psychological thriller filled with depth and suspense.
The novel begins with a slow start, but as the story unfolds, the narrative takes an electrifying turn, drawing readers in with an irresistible magnetic pull. The slow buildup in the beginning is a clever set-up for the whirlwind of events that follow. Just like all Modglin books, this one contains unexpected twists that draw you in and hold your attention. Just when you think you've figured out the direction the story is headed, Modglin throws in a curveball that leaves you reeling.

Like all KMod books, I was hooked from the beginning and listened to this in one day. This one was seriously creepy from the beginning. The story was set in high school so I wasn't sure if the characters were young and naive or if there was something sinister going on. KMod made sure to set breadcrumbs for her twists and turns, but the question was- are the breadcrumbs real? The narrator was great and I really enjoyed listening to this. The ending did not disappoint!
Thank you to NetGalley, Kiersten Modglin and Dreamscape Media for an ALC in exchange for an honest review.

This book is one of my fav KMod books so far. The audiobook narrator was great.
At first I thought this was more of a YA book but then it got pretty violent/demented. Definitely for an older audience. I found myself holding my breath several times.
I loved how everything unfolded in this one. Pacing was perfect. The characters were well developed especially considering how many characters there were and that this was a shorter novel that what I usually read. So she covered a ton of ground in this book without any unnecessary filler.
I love that KMod always dives right into the story and keeps readers engaged from start to finish.
I loved trying to figure out what was going on with Jaicey as she seemed like a very unreliable narrator at first, and in a sense maybe she was, but you get more pieces of the puzzle as the story progresses. Things eventually make sense…so buckle up.
This guy Brayden comes outta nowhere, seems to know Jaicey really well and he falls for her quickly. The entire time I’m like omg this guy is coming on WAY too strong and is really possessive. Gave me Fear vibes. Jaicey gets those vibes too but is trying to live in the moment.
I never understood why she pushed all of her friends away, including Derek who I liked from the jump. I’m partial to Derek’s though. Married a pretty awesome Derek. 😉
I also appreciated the bonus chapter that she threw in at the end. I’m glad she did that.
I loved the emotional roller coaster I was on with this book. Now I’m off to nurse my book hangover.

Another thoroughly enjoyable thriller from this author. I loved the characters. I had my doubts about the main characters being 19 but it turned out perfectly. I was also impressed with the realistic HEA. The additional chapter was *Chefs kiss"! Thank you!

WOW this one. I didn't enjoy a good bit of it because it was definitely more YA than general adult. However, the big reveal and ending threw me for a loop and brought me back in.
I received an advance copy. All thoughts are my own.

This book started out feeling like a teenage romance (and not in a bad way) but as I listened on, mysterious things started coming out of the woodwork and it had me hooked wondering what exactly happened in Jaicey's past. I loved this one so much, it was a nice short read filled with intrigue and some wild twists, just like I have come to expect from KMod.
The audio was really great. It's all first person and narrated by Tara Sands, who did a fantastic job voicing Jaicey and the rest of the characters. I'll probably be listening to this one again soon.
*minor spoilers ahead*
It's hard to go into why I loved this story without giving away any clues! I highly suggest just stopping here and going in blind. (are you gone yet? okay, cool) I loved how Jaicey started to slowly figure out someone, or rather many people, were hiding things from her. Little comments were made early on that had my mind working and it just never quit until we reached the conclusion.
I really loved the ending too. What happened to Jaicey was already so heartbreaking, but then the hits just kept coming. I was almost in tears as we ended this story, but I truly loved it.

Fascinating story, loved the narrator too! Modglin's books are usually a guarantee of fun and this was no different. Recommended to thriller readers.

Wow! This is definitely one of my new favorites by Kiersten Modglin! All of her books are easy to fly through and very suspenseful. I absolutely loved the characters and the narrator did a great job conveying all the emotion in this book.

This one was a wild ride!! The author skillfully weaves a web of suspense that keeps you enthralled from beginning to end. I was hanging on to discover what happens with Jaicey. I devoured this book in a day and I just couldn't help but love Jaicey. I devoured this book in a day; it was simply unputdownable. This book really took me on a roller coaster of emotions.
The narration by Tara Sands was an absolute gem. Her voice and delivery perfectly captured the essence of Jaicey's character. The emotional nuances and depth she brought to the story made it even more immersive. Sands truly felt like the perfect choice for bringing Jaicey's voice to life.
I would recommend this for anyone who enjoys a good young adult psychological thriller read.
A very special thanks to Netgalley, and Dreamscape Media for the complimentary copy.

Another good read from Kiersten Modglin. While this book begins a little odd, you kind of feel like you have been thrown into a story that had already started, I think that may have been intentional (and clever) to make you feel how Jaycee feels; almost like you are missing something. This book has a few good twists, so for a quick read it's good. The narrator does an awesome job keeping the characters distinctive while maintaining a good pace.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to *listen* to this audiobook.

I absolutely love this authors work. This is an older book so you can definitely see the changes in writing from then to now. I thought this was well written just not as good as her things are now.

Jaicie has blocked out parts of her past. But Brayden, her new friend, pushes her to try to remember. Is Jaicie ready for what she is going to find out?
After reading K Mod's newer books, this one paled a little in comparison with the wow factor but that's not to say it was a bad story because it still held my interest all the way throughout. It's evident to see the way the author has grown in her writing style after reading both her previous and newer books. She's such a huge talent!

I’m a huge fan of Kiersten Modglin and have loved all of her books being published as audiobooks lately! The narrator was good and I enjoyed her reading of the story- she made all the voices distinct. This book felt a little darker than the author’s usual but still excellent. Highly recommend!

I am a big fan of Kiersten Modglin; she’s a fantastic storyteller. This is one of her older novels that is being re-released in audio and while the stories are still compelling and captivating, the way that they are relayed are different. The twists aren’t as sharp but that’s OK with this one. This is less of a thriller and more of story of self-discovery for Jaicey. It’s told the way it should be with just enough of a twist to keep you listening.

With a real young adult feel rehear the story of JC and her bouncing back after an uncertain event happened. She is dealing with a lot and seems to be frightened of everything but once she meets Braden a new boy at school he will help her with a lot of things especially win her dad gets sick. He will be a distraction especially with his extraordinary prom invitation. There’s still things JC doesn’t understand like where did her scars come from why did her school made derricks mom tell her they miss having her over? Why are there things JC can’t remember and why does Braden seem too good to be true? As I say in every review I do for a Kiersten Modglin book as of late they’re really hit or miss and having learned that these are all re-releases from her early days of writing I totally see why but when it comes to The Missing Piece, I have to say I really enjoyed this book and although it wasn’t up there with her best I found it very entertaining as a fan of the teen yeah genre this was a great addition and although this wasn’t put under that genre I think it should be. There are many people that would totally enjoy this book that aren’t seeing it due to the genre it’s under. Having said all that I highly recommend this book the narrator did a wonderful job I thought she was really good and although at times I found her over emotional it’s still better than being totally non-emotional so kudos to her. I want to thank dreamscape media and net galley for my free arc copy please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
Another awesome one by Modglin. I tend to love her books and this one did not disappoint.
Took me two days to finish it and the narrator was great. Another great one for me by this author.

Many thanks to Netgalley, Kiersten Modglin, and the publisher for this audiobook I'm exchange for anhonest review.
I'm a big fan of Kiersten and this one did not disappoint. It was a little heavier than her other books as there is kidnapping, memory loss, and violence against teens. The plot was fast paced and it was a quick listen. Not that I need books to be tied up neatly and occasionally I like a good cliffhanger, but she wrapped this one up nicely at the end.
