Once again KMod hits it out of the park! This one, as usual, was twisty and turny. I was afraid of her boyfriend being the bad guy...and was right. But there were so many other surprises that I wasn't left feeling let down. I will always, always read a KMod book!

Jaicey is a teenager with a troubled past that she can’t remember. All she knows is, there are no mirrors in her house and no pictures of her after she was 15. She has no friends and feels like everyone is always making fun of her. She’s an outcast. Then she meets Brayden, the new kid, and she becomes friends with him. He makes her comfortable and she starts to come out of her shell.

Then one day, she remembers everything….

This was a really fun audiobook. I laughed, I cried, I cringed.

I really enjoyed this one. I am a huge fan of KMod, so this is no surprise.

Jacee is a loner at school until she meets new kid Branden. They become a couple quickly. At first, Jacee doesn't want to go to prom, but then Branden talks her into going.
Jacee has guilt about killing her best friend in a car crash. Jacee's parents have a secret. She hears them whispering in the middle of the night. Branden, although the new kid, isn't as perfect as he seems either

Thanks for the ARC of this audiobook! I thought this book was amazing! I was hooked from the start. There was this “cheesy” romance that was one of those really predictable ones and then the book takes a 180! Woah! I was almost expecting the shoe to drop again with the final chapters but it ended well.

When a new student transfers to her school and takes an interest in her, Jaicey feels a sense of foreboding she can't explain. Trying desperately to understand why she feels she this way, she realizes that if she doesn't figure it out soon she might be in grave danger.

I loved that this book sounded like a completely different voice than most of the other books by this author. I really enjoy most of her books, but they tend to have the same adult-couple-in-trouble starting point so it was refreshing for this one to be told from the perspective of a high school student. The narration was good, the story moved quickly, and while the twists at the end weren't nearly as surprising as they typically are with this author, I really enjoyed listening!

Sipping thoughts: Reading the first half of this book had me feeling like I was the one missing a piece…of something. But once I caught on, this dark, disturbing yet OH SO thrilling book had me in a chokehold. I finished it in just a few hours as I worked. The villain in this book was so evil which made this book so riveting. This book was originally released in 2016 in the physical copy. Grab this book on audio and enjoy it these last few weeks of summer.

Cheers and thank you to @NetGalley and @DreamscapeMedia for an advanced copy of @TheMissingPiece.

This one just didn't work for me at all. The narration was fine, but the story was just...pretty outrageous. It felt very YA and over the top.

Quick Summary: A YA thriller

My Review: The Missing Piece by Kiersten Modglin was an incredible read. It started with the middle at the beginning and ramped up the further along it went. I cannot even clearly express how much this book captivated me.

About the Book: After experiencing an extremely traumatic event, a young high schooler returns to her life. Upon her return, she soon realizes that something is amiss. Everything she thought she knew about herself, her family, her friends, and her new relationship is not as it would seem. Can she get to the bottom of what's really going on before it's too late?

My Final Say: This book was packed to bursting with dark action, suspense, and drama. There were red flags and warning signs everywhere. It was emotionally intense and utterly heartbreaking. If I say anymore, it would give too much away.

Narration: The narrator did a superb job. The tone, the pacing, and the character rhythms were totally on point. I was enthralled.

Other: There were several triggers associated with this book. Readers should be sure to check out any author's notes.

4.5⭐️

Never ignore red flags. Trust your gut, trust yourself, even when you can’t trust your memory.

Jaicey is a closed-off high school senior. She feels off, and she’s isolated and friendless. There are no mirrors in her home, and her parents treat her delicately. The problem is, she doesn’t know why. She even forgets that she’s forgotten.

A new boy shows up at her school and immediately zeros in on her, ever-determined to push past all her boundaries and protestations. She resists, and resists, until finally she doesn’t.

As the story progresses, Jaicey’s unease grows, but flashes of memories and strange dreams and overheard conversations leave her tiptoeing around the truth. That is, until something quite suddenly happens.

This was a fraught, suspense-filled, moving story, with lots of unexpected twists and more depth than I’d expected.

Tara Sands expertly narrates the audiobook.

Thank you Kiersten Modglin, Dreamscape Media, and NetGalley for providing this ALC for review consideration. All opinions expressed are my own.

The Missing Piece is storytelling at its best! There are holes everywhere in Jaicey's life. People say things to her that don't make sense, and everyone around her seems to be walking on eggshells. Just when you think you've figured it out, you realize you were dead wrong. I never dreamed I would be full-on ugly crying at the end, but here we are!

The narration of this audiobook was great! Tara Sands has the perfect voice for Jaicey. I love how when I sped the story up (because I couldn't wait to find out what was happening), it was still crystal clear, and I didn't miss a thing!

Thank you, KMod, Dreamscape Media, and NetGalley, for an ARC audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This was a quick and fast book, and interesting enough to keep me listening. It read more like a YA book, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, just not what I was expecting. I liked that the author tried to mix things up by not telling what happened to Jaicey until later in the book, but it made me less invested/interested in her.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

I'm a big fan of Kiersten Modglin, and jumped at the chance to get an ALC of this book, not realizing this is one of her earlier works being re-released in audiobook format. Honestly, I found it OK, but it felt very YA and melodramatic. This is a super quick read/listen, and I know I'm an outlier, but I found it rather underdeveloped and underwhelming. Not to say I won't jump on the opportunity to read all of her other books, like I said, I'm already a big fan! The narrator did a good job bringing the story to life. A big thank you to the author, NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to listen to this ALC in exchange for an honest review.

This author is one of my favorites! She never fails to deliver and thrilling and mysterious book without extra words that add nothing to the story! These books are always straight to the point and they’re the perfect length to binge as well!

This one follows a high school student that we learn suffers from traumatic memory loss and we follow her as she unravels her past and remembers not only what happened, but the part she played in it. It’s interesting, thrilling, suspenseful and mysterious and I really did enjoy it! Absolutely recommend to anyone who enjoys shorter thrillers!

The Missing Piece by Kiersten Modglin, an audiobook narrated by Tara Sands is absolutely an utterly gripping and nail-biting psychological thriller! At first, I thought it was sort of teenage romance but knowing the author I knew something will be hidden and I was right! At the moment I didn't expect the turnaround it come like a bomb and shattered all in pieces. The innocent teenage drama turned into a nail-biting psychological thriller!
Perfect!
Perfect!
And narrator Tara Sands made this book even more enjoyable! Her reading was just perfect, she speed up and slowed down when needed adding the extra effect of reality.
Jaicey meets Brayden, the boy of her dreams. She is trying to fight her attraction but Brayden knows how to make Jaicey feel special and romance blooms. But there is a dark secret hidden in the past that slaps her in the face at the moment she doesn't expect. And all her world is turned upside down.
Definitely one of the best Kiersten Modglin books!
Thank you, NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the advance copy!

Kiersten has done it again! The book sucked me right in as something was off with Jaicey right from the beginning and I wanted to know what that was. I was horrified to find out what had happened to Jaicey and by who because I could not fathom what had happened to her before the book began. This book was a quick and gripping read that was a perfect thrill. Kiersten really has become a favorite author due to how gripping her books are.

Jaicey doesn’t feel safe, she flinches whenever people try to touch her, but she can’t remember why she feels this way. As she gets more involved with a new boy at school, Brayden, she begins coming out of her shell. But people are acting weird towards her and saying weird things. Throughout the novel, Jaycey struggles as she’s trying to get back to normal, while simultaneously trying to figure out why she feels so unsafe to begin with.

While there were moments I was really confused throughout this book, I still thoroughly enjoyed it. It also makes sense that a book about memory loss and such is a bit confusing, as there are a lot of “missing pieces”.

I did feel like marketing this as an adult fiction wasn’t the right move, and I think it would be better to classify it as a Young Adult novel.

The audiobook was very good, and I felt that the narrator did a great job. It’s a short but entertaining read, as I was able to finish it all in just a day.

I would recommend to anyone who likes YA thrillers, especially people who like an unreliable narrator.

Big thanks to Netgalley, Dreamscape Media, and the author Kiersten Modglin for allowing me to listen to an Audio-ARC of this novel.

I really love Kiersten Modglin, but as her earlier books are being re-released for audio (yay) I am realizing that it’s hard to go from an author with more than 20 books of experience back to their earliest works. That isn’t to say that this was a bad book, because it wasn’t, but it wasn’t as great as what I have come to expect. I felt like this one was a young adult novel, and I think it would do better if it was marketed that way. I did think the narrator did a great job bringing the story to life. This audiobook was short, about 5.5 hours, which is closer to a novella. This is a super hard book to describe without giving spoilers. I didn’t think the twist was particularly twisty, but I did think that this story was told in a pretty unique way. Overall I gave it 3.5 stars and if you like quick, thrillers more aimed towards young adults than this book would definitely be one you’d enjoy.

Tara Sands does a great job narrating this book! Her voice fits the main character perfectly and made it such an easy listen! The story definitely took me by surprise, which I loved! So many twists and turns most will never see coming! If you’re into psychological thrillers you should check this book out!

Thanks to #NetGalley and #DreamScapeMedia for the ARC of #TheMissingPiece by #KierstenModglin. This book was a crazy ride. I loved the secrecy, the darkness and the twisty ending. Amazing, like all of Kierstens book!

Twisted ending, slow-burnt and revenge thriller.

An accident happened when Jaicey was 15, the trauma she made her could not remember about that day. Brayden transferred to her school and tried to get close to Jaicey, soon it developed into a couple relationship.

However, all her friends said this was not true and not to trust Brayden. Brayden was trying to help Jaicey to remember that night and could he be trusted?

This is an emotional ride while reading, the trust Jaicey gave and returned in empty hope. The guilt from her parents of not protecting her enough and the friendship. It’s quite a heavy read for me. The ending was surprisingly!
