This is a feel-good, sweet yet steamy, small town romance. Rose has won $80 million dollars in the lottery and flees the only city/home she’s ever known in a chance to escape the notoriety her millions have thrust upon her life. She lands in a small mountain town of North Carolina after getting stuck on a snowy road and assisted by an enormous bearded lumbersexual. After throwing and hitting in the face with a ‘thank you Snickers’ (still laughing at this scene) she settles into a quaint bed and breakfast for several weeks to ‘make a new life plan.’ After a few weeks of making friendships with locals and sensing a strong connection to the community, Rose decides to plant roots by buying her first home in this town. She finds the perfect place but it needs renovations, and hew new contractor is none other than her giant former snowy savior, Angus.

Y’all. Two lonely mid-30’s adults falling in love was a balm I didn’t know my heart needed. Watching them learn each other through the forced proximity of the renovations was fun, sexy, and heart-warming. Their mutual attraction and connection was so earnest and genuine. Angus is a divorced vet who helps local vets with PTSD as a part-time counselor, and Rosie is a plus-sized women who has been bullied into thinking she doesn’t deserve love and sexual attraction. She lightens Angus’ world, giving him hope for domesticity and he lovingly shows Rosie how desirable and worthy she is of love and commitment. There is defined a third act drama over Rosie keeping her lottery winnings a secret/miscommunication, but based on how the money negatively affected her life it is understandable. I don’t think I’ve ever rooted hoarded for a couple to reach their HEA than this book. I adored the found family, small-town community, and emphasis on body positivity and community support.

I tandem read via the audiobook and digital arc, and while I really enjoyed and connected with the narrator for Rose, I definitely felt the narrator for Angus just sounded too old for the way the role was written.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this e-ALC in exchange for my review.
I’ll be posting on my social media on release week!

Enemies to lovers, quirky small town, body positivity and emotional storylines that will pull at your heartstrings? 100% yes!

I truly enjoyed this swoon worthy romcom by Laura Moher. Full of complicated backstories we follow two lost souls just looking to belong. Full of immaculate vibes and friendship goals - Curves for Days was a great read!

That you to Dreamscape Media for the advanced copy! Paul Bellantoni and Michelle Price did a fantastic job bringing the story to life!

I really enjoyed Curves for Days.

I tend to see when a FMC is plus size that it is constantly thrown in your face and like almost like that is all that matters. Plus size peoples are the same as any other people and you don’t constantly point out a thin person is thin throughout the book so i tend to have negative feelings toward that. The author DID NOT do this. You knew rose was plus size, but it wasn’t her identity.

The author truly did an outstanding job at making Rose relatable and someone you wanted to root for. I absolutely adored her as a character and didn’t want it to end.

Our MMC was a big cinnamon roll teddy bear and i truly loved his support for rose in all things. The way he had a true willingness to go at her pace and not pressure her and the constant support he gave her was admirable.

Definitely check the trigger warnings before diving into this book - while it is a sweet romance and coming of age book it also deals with some heavy topics of fat shaming and sexual assault.

I would definitely read more by this author!

Original story with interesting characters. This story sheds light on some topics that aren’t talked about often.
Curves for Days represents the underdog, The bullied, the tortured. Giving them a voice. What happens when they have to leave their hometown scared and start a new life in secret?.
There is so much more to this story than romance.
4/5 stars- Taking 1 star away in no way reflects the story or Author. This rating is based on the audiobook version of this story. The female narrator was good, the man was creepy and made the guy seem like a real perv.

What's this? A straight romance that I liked? I would even say that I loved? Who is she and where did she come from because hot damn this was so good.

I requested this book on netgalley for the simple fact of the visibly fat character on the cover. I love it and she is gorgeous. What I wasn't ready for was a fully fledged thought out romance book with a fat main character and a hot hunky contractor to steal my heart.

Look I genuinely love this. So many times with romance books you end up finishing the book right as the characters are getting into a relationship. That's not the case with this one and it was so refreshing. They actually get together pre 50% and are a couple for a large majority of this book. So we get to see everything from their first meeting to their second meeting to their third meeting to them becoming friends and going on dates and then dating and then having a relationship and then having arguments and making up and everything.

It was so thorough and I want all romance books to be like this.

I will say that the miscommunication and the third act break up was incredibly predictable and could have easily been avoided but I didn't hate it. I didn't love the way that they made up and I wish there had been a little bit more conversation about toxic masculinity and how to combat that and have a healthy relationship but it is touched upon just not as much as I would have liked.

I will most certainly be reading this author's future books and keeping my fingers crossed for more fat people on covers 🤞

4.5 (only bc I wanted a ✨little✨ more than the third act break up gave)

I had the audio version (not listed on GR) and I will say that I may have given this 5 stars but that male narrator was not it. He sounded so much older than the female and did not fit the book.

I did love that this was a sweet southern romance and loved that we had a plus size female main character, who had so much personal growth throughout the book. I also loved the grump hero (despite the voice).

Rose wins the lottery and is in the spotlight, being contacted by people from her past, most of which she does not have fond memories of. She flees to small town North Carolina. She meets people, makes friends, and meets Angus. He is working as a contractor on her new house. He always seems grumpy!

I loved the friendship between Rose and Angus and how it grew into more. Rose's secret tore them apart, but you just knew they'd end up back together!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an ALC in exchange for my honest review.

I was super excited to receive a copy of this advance copy audiobook - thanks NetGalley and Laura Moher.

This was a treat to listen to. A slow-burn romance between Alice Rose, a beautiful curvy lonely woman who wins the lottery thanks to her one friend which causes all the people who knew her to try to make pathetic amends in order to possibly leech off her money, and Angus, a beefy growly man who spends his days between two jobs, a psychologist helping vets treat mental illness and as a contractor fixing up houses.

There’s tons of heat for those who want heat in their romance- Rosie and Angus clearly mesh and her love of fancy underwear certainly helps. I personally saw this book as a two in one with the romance storyline being one part and then my favorite part of the book - the town and Rosie’s growth.

Rosie had a traumatic past. She was assaulted and bullied when she was a teen. Enough to make her drop out of school and get her GED instead. However, she is incredibly resilient and kind and she makes a life for herself and finds herself in this small town where she finds and makes friends and does anonymous good deeds with her money. It’s inspiring and just really nice to read of the beauty that can be in our world.

This book was narrated beautifully though the male voice just didn’t quite work as Angus in my head. He was an excellent narrator- just not what I pictured.

This was definitely a good read and I look forward to a sequel.

I absolutely devoured this book in a day! Could not put it down!
Curves for Days was the most sweetest, cosiest, funniest book. I was grinning like a fool for most of it.

Rose has always felt alone, invisible, unwanted. That is, until she wins the lottery, and suddenly all the worms come out of the woodwork. All the people who made her life miserable in school now want to reconnect and Rose is scared enough that she skips town, with no destination in mind. After being rescued by a grumpy giant, she finds herself in a small town where no-one knows of her wealth, and nor do most of them seem to judge her based on her appearance. Rose falls in love with the town and soon finds herself working closely with Angus (the grumpy giant) as he remodels her new house.

This story is a great enemies to lovers, grumpy sunshine, romantic comedy that is the perfect feel-good read in between heavy fantasy. The body positivity and just all-around good people will have you smiling for ages!
The audiobook has dual narrators and they both added some fantastic personality to the characters. Loved it!

I enjoyed the story. I really loved the small town vibe where everyone is just sweet, it reminds me a bit of my own home town. I liked the plus size rep a lot, and I was happy to see Rose grow to love herself.

Angus was a hit or miss. I loved him at the beginning of the book, but then his later actions felt very out of characters.

I felt like the conflict dragged on a bit at the end, I was just wanting them to kiss and make up.

The audiobook was good I really enjoyed the dual POV with 2 different narrators. Angus didn't sound as I would have imagined him to but it was still a good cast.

there are a few triggers that I wished I would have looked up before going into it but that was my own fault for not checking.

overall it was a cute read!

Thank you NetGalley, Laura Moher, Sourcebooks, for an copy of the audiobook in exchange for a review!

I’d give this a 3.5.

I loved so much about this book. I love Rose’ growth and big heart. She’s so kind, thoughtful and genuine. Angus is an adorable teddy bear.

But.

For a plus size girl Rose was so obsessed with his physical size. It felt so out of character and ridiculous, eventually I just started rolling my eyes.

Angus’ obsession about her money was just plain stupid. She didn’t need his saving and he was a big stupid baby throwing a freaking tantrum because his giant ego was hurt. 🙄

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an arc.

Curves for Days

I requested the book on NetGalley because it sounded hella cute and featured a plus sized FMC. These characters are so lovable and multifaceted. I didn’t expect this rom-com to have as many layers as it did but I really loved the topics they covered.

Curves for Days follows Rose Barnes who unexpectedly wins the lottery and wants nothing more than to escape her past and all the people who suddenly have tried to become her friend after bullying her in high school. She finds herself stuck in the snow in Galway, NC, where a grumpy lumberjack looking fella helps her get her car out. She never realized just how familiar she would become with him until she decides to stay in this town and hires him to help renovate her house.

I love Rose and Angus, so freaking much. I expected this to be a cutesy rom com with some cute shenanigans and I wholly didn’t expect this book to cover tougher issues such as self esteem, fat phobia, sexual assault, ptsd, and the realities many veterans face. Angus is a therapist that helps to rehabilitate veterans into civilian life and often mentions the rougher side of that. Rose has been through a lot in her life, from bullying in high school to making ends meet. Both of them have very rough pasta and I loved how they seemed to help each other work through it together. Their relationship felt very organic and they truly helped each other grow as people.

I don’t read small town super often (more often than I always think I do) but I always love when the author builds a town feels like a real place, with different personalities and residents. I loved this little town of Galway and it felt like somewhere you could just walk down the street and see.

This book had me smiling at how these two would act, mad at the things that happened to Rose, sad for Angus, just a whole host of emotion going on. I’d definitely recommend it if you are looking for something cute, but steamy, with complex characters, a delicious slow-burn romance with enemies to lovers and grumpy/sunshine vibes.

I listened to this on audio and l’m a picky audiobook narrator person. I actually really liked the narrators for both Rose and Angus a lot. I feel like they both did fantastic with the characters and I would absolutely listen to this again.

Curves for Days is a charming, yet emotional romance novel. Enemies to lovers, the slow burn is worth the wait. Rose & Angus are sooo good together. The banter is next level. The challenges they face are relatable. The resolution isn’t quick but I didn’t mind even though my heart was breaking. They both needed the time and space to figure their own stuff out. I loved their relationship. I loved all the side characters, so I’m hoping for a series that goes into some of their stories!! Angus is a counselor serving veterans and Rose has been through some tough things so check TW/CW. I liked the narrators!! They brought the personalities to life.

I really thought I was going to like this a mid-life romance, curvy FMC, small town, some hurt comfort. Also, once I started it I thought the lottery angle could have worked out really well. But I really couldn't get into it. I felt pretty early on that the characters weren't going to work for me. The FMC seems intensely traumatised and I can’t relate to this FMC at all.

Seriously the levels of internalised fat-phobia are off the charts. To the point it’s distracting from the story.

The MMC seems to be suffering from PTSD as well as some sort of complex where he feels the need to balance his presence in the world. It even impacts they way he looks as splitting a takeaway.

The pacing felt off to me, too slow, too many leading hints and comments from the characters that seemed to just go no where. I imagine someone who's more into it may really like it.

Curves for Days follows Rosie and Angus; Rosie, a new multi-millionaire, hits the road after everyone in her hometown seems to be after her money as they never had interest in her before. She meets Angus when he pushes her stuck car out of the snow. Rosie decided to settle in this new town and ends up hiring Angus to do some work on her new house. Can our cheerful heroine and grumpy hero trust one another and find love?

I found this story to be funny, uplifting and heartbreaking all at once. Rosie and her mistrust of others and insecurities over her weight/appearance is so relatable. My heart went out to her! I loved the interactions between our two main characters.

I loved these narrators! They really brought these two characters to life!

I really couldn’t get behind the voice actors here, specifically Angus. It took the gruff aspect of his character too far and in my mind ended up making him an over dramatic old man.

In respect to the story itself. I didn’t love or hate this, it had some really great aspects and some that felt a little over done. I think the concept of the book is great, we all want and need realistic characters to relate to. But from my perspective the narration maybe took some of the negative self images and recriminations and beat the dead horse.

I really enjoyed this book. I found myself laughing out loud several times at this lighthearted romance.

I'm struggling with this review because there definitely were things I liked. I loved her. She was a doll of a human with a glorious heart. I hated that people hurt her and let her down so often. I hated the way she talked about herself to herself like she was less than. I adored the small scale interactions she had throughout the book where she was fairy godmothering cash into purses at the supermarket, making sure kids had food and books, setting up jobs for desperate people out of work. If anyone needed to win the lottery, it was her.

I'm undecided on Angus. I didn't like how flippant he was in discussing a prior assualt in his head. After Rose and Angus have sex for the first time and some other things happen, he spirals and calls himself potentially "the second-worst sex partner in the world."

The problem for me was that he exclusively calls Timmy (the perpetrator of a dishonest, borderline rape according to her, definitely a rape according to Angus) a rapist throughout the entire book so he knows that these are not the same at all. Let's not equate a very wanted, enthusiastic sexual experience and what happened to her in high school. Something about that part of the book has been rattling around my head for a week and I don't like it. I may not be explaining that well but it felt thoughtless.

I loved the female narrator. I thought she had excellent range. Angus sounded much more mature than I was expecting and when he said he was in his thirties, I was really surprised.

"I'm the one nobody wants until I get eighty million dollars."

Ya'll I am torn on how I feel about this book! The first half of the book was hard for me to digest. I was mostly disappointed in how Rose treated herself & what she perceived others felt about her. Granted I understood why she got those thoughts but as a plus size reader, I want my FMC to be happy and confident in their size. So it was hard to hear her say some of things about herself. I also did not understand the purpose of the character for Miz Ames. I was hoping for some sort of resolution with her by the end but there really wasn't anything? Her note to her was not kind and very backhanded. I am curious to see if we get any more answers in the upcoming books.

I definitely was much more invested in the story in the 2nd half. I thought the conflict for the couple was somewhat warranted. I also like the friend group that Rose was able to make and think she really found herself in this city of Galway.

"Now I totally fucking get why people like getting naked."

Rosie overall was such a sweet person. She was giving an opportunity that most of us don't ever have and decided not to be selfish with it. All she ever wanted was to help people and by the end she was able to do so. Angus meant well in everything he did but sometimes his delivery was a little off. I do love how into he was with Rosie. He was very gentle and really listened to her stories from her past without any sort of judgment.

I do like how the author made Angus a Vet and that he worked with discharged Vets. I thought that it was a very honorable career. And similar to Rose, just likes helping people and wanting the best for them. This definitely had more spicier bits that I was expecting (going in I thought it was closed door).

As much as this wasn't my favorite romance, I still thoroughly enjoyed it and could not stop reading it. I know this was the author's debut so perhaps she was just getting into her groove. I probably will check out the 2nd book in the series to see what's happening with July.

I paired my reading in tandem with the audio. I was not familiar with either names for the narrators. The female narrator, Michelle Price, was great and I wish she narrated the whole book. The male narrator, Paul Bellantoni, just was not the voice I imagined that Angus would sound like. He definitely sounded older than his 36 year old self. I took me well into the 2nd half to adjust to listen to his tone.

If you like a Hallmark story with a hot handyman & a fat FMC who is coming into her own plus throw $80 million dollars in there - this is the book for you!

I loved it, great narration and story. Loved to read and see in the media someone like me, and Angus is a dream man💞

I wasn’t sure what to expect with this, but I really liked it. It’s a story of two people trying to figure out who they are and how they fit in the world. I generally enjoyed Rose and Angus’s story and the curious small town of Galway, NC. Both narrators were new to me, but I enjoyed both of their performances, and felt they really brought the story and characters to life.

I was given this advanced listening copy by. NetGalley and DreamScape Media. All opinions are my own.
