This book went in a totally different direction than I thought it would. I always enjoy Kiersten Modglin’s plots.

Omg this might be my new favorite K.Mod. book!!! So twisted and crazy! I loved every minute! I could not put this one down!! And the audiobook was perfection!! Loved the narrators. Highly highly recommend if you want a fast paced thriller!

I had to give up a quarter of the way into this audiobook as I found the storyline a little too dark and too disturbing. A couple moves to Bates, a small town in South Carolina. The woman is pregnant, expecting their first child. There seems a reluctance in the town to sell them a house or to even be friendly to outsiders. While shopping the new mother is told about a list of children who all die once on it. The story is also told from the serial killer's POV.

Let me preface this by saying, I’m a huge KMod fan....but this one absolutely didn’t work for me. Before any of my personal opinions regarding the storyline, this book definitely needs a TW for child death/murder. I had no idea what I was walking into when I picked it up because the blurb itself is fairly vague regarding victims. While this wouldn’t have been a deal breaker for me, it could absolutely be triggering for others and was still a little jarring going in completely blind to this premise.
As far as the actual story goes, while the premise was pretty interesting, there was a whole lot that didn’t work for me. The FMC was TSTL nearly the entire book and there were so many plot holes, inconsistencies, and events that were less than logical that I couldn’t keep up. This felt so disjointed and it really was a letdown because normally KMod books for me are a wild and crazy ride but once you reach the end, you can see why everything that happened...well happened the way it did. There was no explaining this one, though.
The narrators were, as always, amazing though. I haven’t listened to a Dreamscape audiobook yet that I haven’t been impressed with. The production was fantastic and really the only thing saving this one for me. Had I been reading rather than listening, I probably would have DNF’d.

Are you looking for a twisty, fast paced, suspense filled thriller .. look no further. Kiersten Modglin is such an incredible storyteller & The List is one of her many epic stories you’ll binge read with no regrets. The multiple narrators did a great job narrating this audiobook. A huge thank you to K Mod, Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for an ALC in exchange for my honest review.
Four “keep me on the edge of my seat”stars. I highly recommend going in blind and enjoying the ride.

The atmosphere is eerie and some of the townies are a little creepy. I had a little trouble connecting with this one, its main characters, slow pace, and its dark content. It seemed a little more like a straight to video horror movie, but I am definitely in the minority here, so I’d check it out for yourself. But be forewarned that there are child and baby murders in this one, if that is a trigger for you.
Jennifer Jill Araya, David Bendena, and Michael Crouch narrated this one and I loved the creepy male villain in this one. It made up for my not connecting with the rest.

I'm a long time fan of Kiersten Modglin. And this book is no different. I always think I know where the plot is going and I'm always wrong. You'd think I'd quit guessing by now. But nope. Highly recommend

A list that you do not want to be on floats throughout a the small town and when your name comes up, there will be consequences. An entire town has lived with this secret but when a newcomer moves in and discovers the List, she does everything can do to end the cycle. Along the way she is met with numerous barriers and obstacles. I am not sure the plot is believable but I still could this novel down as it kept me wanting more. Definitely recommend to fans of psychological thrillers!

I found this book intriguing. Listening on audio, I thought the narrator did an excellent job. I was pulled in from the first page.

I must say this was the most thrilling of her thrillers. The serial killer vibes, the sleepy town that doesn't ask questions and the stepford wives vibe. I was intrigued up until the very last word. Excellent audiobook

The List was a great read by Kiersten Modglin. It has been ten years since the small town of Bates, South Carolina was changed forever with the appearance of a slip of paper. There were six names on the paper and it was six people that were set to die. In just six short months, they were all gone. Every six months a new list comes out and the citizens go to extraordinary lengths to keep their names off the list. They havent found out who the listmake is that is controlling their town. Connor and Jordyn Atwood move to Bates and they see just how far their neighbors will go to protect themselves. I enjoyed reading this book and reading the Atwoods trying to protect themselves and their new town. I cant wait to read more by the author.

Now that was a good book! From beginning to end! 10 stars hand down!
Can you live in a town where someone is killing kids. A list goes out every 6 months with 6 children's names on it. The names of 6 children that will die in the order the list has been written. You can move, but you will be found, and your child will still die
What can be done? Just turn the other cheek and pretend not to notice or fight back and try to stop these killings that have gone on for nearly a decade
Conor and Jordan are looking for a place to live. Conors job has transferred. Jordan can't seem to find a place anywhere. Finally she finds a house that she likes but it seems that the owner doesn't want to sell it to her
They finally talk him into selling them the home. Besides needing somewhere to live, their family is about to grow
In town, once settled, Jordan hears commotion outside a grocery store. It appears a woman is highly upset about her daughters name being on a list
Jordan can't understand why this lady is so upset. There are 6 names on the list. Children's names. Soon, all 6 children begin to die in the order that their names are written on the list
And then there's another list
Hide your children
And hope that their name doesn't appear on the next list

Thanks to Netgalley for providing me an audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
I so wish I liked this, but the amount of unnecessary murders of little children, and by seemingly one person, who is orchestrating the whole thing seems ridiculous to me.
I love Kiersten’s other books but this was not it for me unfortunately

I usually love Kirsten Modglin’s books for their fun twisty plots, but this one was outlandish even for me. The first half was entertaining, if totally unrealistic, but the second half took a weird detour and felt like a soap opera almost. Kind of a miss, but I’ll definitely keep reading and listening to her books! I received a free copy of this book from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

I liked the narrators and the premise for this one. I am also a sucker for small towns in the south. While this wasn't a bad read for me, I did struggle a bit. The hardest part was believability. My disbelief kept pulling me out of the story. Overall not bad but I've read much better from the author.

Another excellent thriller by this author. It's very different than the thrillers that are generally available. Lots of creativity went into this one. It delivers up a lots of twists and turns and a shocking ending. Buckle up

I did not like this book for many reasons. The best thing I can say about it is that it’s fast paced, short, and suspenseful. I was hooked enough that I completed it.
The whole plot of a serial killer or group of killers who target children was appalling, and I almost stopped reading right away. The way the narrative unfolded was ridiculous and completely unrealistic, with plenty of inconsistencies.
The dialogue was unnatural and I kept thinking “no one actually talks like this.” I didn’t form any emotional connection to the characters. Since so many children are killed in the book, much of the dialogue is a repetitive phrasing of “I’m so sorry for your loss” followed by characters giving each other comforting hugs.
Even though the setting is South Carolina, the author has done absolutely nothing to create a sense of place. The town was generic and the whole book lacked descriptions of weather, scenery, food, landmarks, trees, buildings, or anything else that would in any way show that it takes place in SC. Even the characters’ names—Jordan, Connor, Kerry, Mike, Erin, Melissa—were not uniquely Southern. At one point the characters say how great the take out food is and they are eating noodles.
I listen to this book as an audiobook, and I think that made me dislike it even more. The male narrators were OK, but the female narrator had a shrill piercing voice that vibrated unpleasantly in my eardrums. All the narrators sounded like they were from California. A book with southern characters needs narrators who speak with a southern accent.

#TheList #NetGalleyKMod does it again! This was a wild ride, as per usual with her books! I was shocked at the twist at the end and I love that! Kmod is an always read author for me and this book does nothing to dissuade me from that decision!

I enjoy Kiersten Modglin Books. This one was no different. The plot twist was insane.
The narrators did a great job. I loved Henry and Kathy more than any other characters .
TRIGGER WARNINGS: The book is very descriptive and involves a lot of child murders. It was disheartening for me being a mom myself.
