Holy crap. I don't even have the words to describe how intense and amazing this book is. I literally finished it in one sitting because I was too caught up in the story to do anything else. Absolutely blown away.

"Six names. Six people set to die"
Every 6 months a list appears pinned to the grocery store's bulletin board with 6 names. All children from infancy to teenagers; all dead in 6 months. The List by twistiest mystery author Kiersten Modglin is a crazy wild fast paced mystery with a reveal I never saw coming and totally blew my mind.
Narrators Jennifer Jill Araya, David Bendena and Michael Crouch are anxiety level 10 in the town of Bates. Connor and Jordyn see the pattern of children dying in bizarre ways. Now Jordyn is pregnant. I screamed just move but I suspended belief and accepted that in a town named Bates everybody's a bit "psycho."
I received a free copy of this audiobook from Dreamscape Media via #NetGalley for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

Conjure in your mind's eye the ethereal sight of six names, innocuous yet ominous, each etching a path toward an inexorable fate. Picture, then, the chilling cadence of a tale where the symphony of life transitions into a dirge, each note resonating with the finality of death's embrace. As the curtain rises upon the narrative tapestry, young Jordyn finds herself ensnared within the enigmatic confines of Bates, a tranquil hamlet shadowed by an unthinkable sequence of demises. The incredulity that unfurls within her is a tempest of disbelief and awe, a tempest that ebbs only to be replaced by a resolute determination to unearth the veiled truth concealed beneath the town's veneer.

Wow what a roller coaster. I love Kiersten Modglin books because of the perfect pacing and perfect length. I think this audio book will creep out a lot of readers with the talk of killing of kids but it was done so tastefully! I loved the twist of the husband being the list maker! I saw it coming from a mile away but it didn't deter my love for this listen. I wish at the end in the epilogue ten years later they got a note delivered with a list of names again like a copy cat moment that would have been the most epic plot twist cliff hanger!
All in all I enjoyed this listen and will tell others to give it a try.

This book was an interesting mix of traditional thriller elements and dystopian-esque society traits (Hunger Games vibes). It was a bit different from a lot of the other books I’ve read from this writer, but it also had the elements I always enjoy. It was unexpected, interesting, and satisfying by the end. I’ll absolutely keep reading whatever I can find from the author.

Every six months a list of names comes out. Those on the list die. To keep their names off the list, some will do anything. Someone is controlling the small town of Bates, but who and why? When Jordyn and Connor Atwood move to Bates they must decide if they too will succumb to the list maker.
Kiersten Modglin delivers another twisty thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat wondering what is going to happen next. The three narrators do an excellent job of making the different points of view clear. It is obvious which character is taking throughout the story. Modglin delivers her famous shocking twists, leaving me with my mouth open at the end of the story. I highly recommend it to anyone that loves thrillers! I give it 4/5 stars.

This is a thriller that will keep you guessing until the very end, and one I recommend! The List takes place in a rural southern town, where the appropriately named List is posted every 6 months. Everyone on the list is a child. Everyone on the list will die. Now it's up to you to figure out why.

4 Stars ~
You know when you find a new author and you have to start reading everything they have written? I think this is the beginning of my love for Kiersten Modglin.
Jordan and her husband move to the small town of Bates, but something is wrong. Jordan can't get over this weird feeling that something is terribly wrong and will stop at nothing to try and find out why all the children of Bates are dying.
Jordan is ruthless and a warrior. And I love that for her. Fighting back to save the town's children and her own.
This is my second read from KM and I'm having a good time. Thank you, NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this Audio ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you for the chance to listen to this audio book from one of my favourite authors.
Kiersten never fails to disappoint- her books are always well written and thrilling. Listening to this via audio book was no different. The characters came to life and really told the story.
As always I never guessed the twist which is why kiersten is one of my favourite authors.
Really recommend this audiobook.

In the quaint town of Bates, a peculiar list is released every six months. This list, comprising six names, bears a most ominous significance - those named are fated to meet an untimely demise. Despite the town's acceptance of this practice, a newcomer, Jordyn, refuses to stand idly by. With determination, she sets out to unravel the mystery behind these deaths. Will she succeed? Only time will tell.
Have you ever found yourself getting frustrated with a character who consistently makes poor decisions? Well, that's exactly how I felt while reading the first quarter of this novel. Despite numerous warning signs, the protagonist chose to ignore them all! However, as the story progressed, the main character evolved and the plot became more captivating and enjoyable, especially with an unexpected twist.
Overall, a captivating thriller that had me guessing until the very end.
*** Thank you to NetGalley, Kiersten Modglin, and Dreamscape Media for graciously sending me the audiobook to review. As always, all thoughts are my own.***

Wow! This premise was hard to read at times but was nail bitting. Narrators did a great job. It was a good thriller with a surprising ending.

I listened to this book on audio and the narrators did a wonderful job, making it easy to listen to.
Kiersten Modglin was a new author to me with this book and I enjoyed it so much that I've now gotten two of her books from the library and purchased one. I'm now a Modglin fan!
If you're like me and like good psychological thrillers, I highly recommend this one. With well developed characters and the descriptive mysteries of the town, this was a solid 4 stars for me.
Thanks to Netgalley for the audio of this remarkable book!

Listen up KMod, fans, The List, just moved into my number one spot for Modglin books. This book is one heck of a banger and I’m here for it!
The List is twisted and will keep you guessing until the very end. The character development was on point. There was no corny dialog or anything unbelievable. I was kept on my toes and anticipating what would come next the entire time!
The ending has some major shock factor!
Don’t believe me? Take a peek yourself:

The premise of the book was WILD! This book had me on the edge of my seat from the beginning as I could not imagine how someone could want to murder children like that. I loved the multiple points of view because it really added an extra twisted layer especially the chapter from the killers point of view. Kiersten Modglin has done it again and I can’t wait for my next read from her! She is my new favorite thriller author!

I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. The story moved quickly and the plot was intelligently written and kept me guessing from beginning to end.

Story
The story opens with new parents, Jordyn and Connor, relocating to a seemingly idyllic town, looking for a fresh start. Although things are a little mysterious from the start, they blow it off as small town quirkiness, however, it's not long before Jordyn discovers the town harbors a deadly secret. As is almost always the case, Connor blows Jordyn's instincts off as exhaustion intensified by post-partum depression. And, I'm not gonna lie, that part really irritated me. Even after Jordyn was able to provide proof that children died at a higher rate than should be considered normal, Connor still refused to believe her.
But she finds a group of fearless women who join her in wanting to solve the mystery and end the deaths. And that is when the town's secrets are exposed.
Narration
This audiobook is narrated by multiple people. Initially, I thought trying to differentiate between the multiple voices would be overwhelming, but it wasn't. I think having each narrator voice a different chapter actually added to the flow of the story and heightened the suspense.
Overall
Kiersten Modglin is a new-to-me author, but I'll definitely add more of her books to my list. The story was unpredictable and kept me guessing all the way until the end. I wasn't prepared for the twist at the end, but it was a good one.
I appreciate that this story was driven by strong female characters. The writing was tight and the story flowed with barely a lag in the narrative.
If you're a fan of psychological thrillers, you definitely want to add this book to your TBR shelf. It's sad and will keep you guessing until the end.
I gave the book 4 out of 5 stars because I did enjoy the story as a whole and it made for easy listening during my travels between campuses.
Trigger Warnings
Child Murder. Physical violence.

I have to say at first I was really loving this one. There are definitely hints of Jackson’s classic The Lottery. The mystery of who or what was tormenting this poor town definitely sucked me right in. Even when things started to require a bit more than your average suspension of disbelief (*cough* car to house fire…I know I’m vague but you’ll understand the part I mean when you get to it, lol) I was still more than willing to roll with it. But the ending just stumbled a bit too much for me. Once everything was revealed it just seemed way too implausible, and yet I still managed to enjoy it. It’s like one of those overplayed movies that I still gladly watch whenever I come across it while channel surfing. The book features multiple narrators and all of them do a fine job. I’d give it 3.5 stars. I’d like to thank Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to an advanced copy of the audio version of Kiersten Modglin’s The List.

What an Awesome thriller. I had the pleasure of listening to the Audio of this book and i finished it within 24 hours. I could not put it down. This is a block buster story. 5 stars all the way. The characters were all good. and the story was great. A must read and I will recommend everyone read this book.

I went in hopeful, but this was a no for me. It was just so outlandish and I couldn't get into it at all. Modglin is very hit or miss for me, but I always give her a shot because she has original story lines. This one just wasnt for me.

This was a super fun and suspenseful listen on audio and I binged this one in just a few sittings as I was so enthralled in the story. Kiersten Modglin's books are perfect for when you're looking for a twisty read without having to think too much and just enjoy the ride, and this book was no different. I got total "The Watcher" vibes when reading from the POV of the killer and the audiobook took that creep level to a whole other level. If you've enjoyed K-Mods books in the past definitely give this one a listen.
Thank you so much NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for my ALC!
