What a solid psychological thriller. I loved the slow burn as the story developed. The short chapters kept me sprinting through to keep guessing “whodunnit”. The story follows Tara, a psychologist, who takes on the legal case of Jade Jameson, who has been accused of killing an older man in her father’s hotel. But Jade claims that she doesn’t remember what happened that night. Is she lying, or is her wealthy father keeping secrets hidden? Definitely check out this novel!

Seventeen year old Jade Jameson is accused of killing ex-policeman Carl Ress. But what was she doing in the hotel room with him prior to his death? In a hotel owned by her very powerful father Ray Jameson no less. Jade claims she cannot remember what happened, waking to a darkened room and Carl's bloodied body on the floor. But who is telling the truth and who is lying? Tara Black is a psychologist with a past that almost mirror's Jade's. Perhaps that is why Ray had their solicitor engage Tara to assess Jade for her defence. And despite what comes her way, Tara is determined to get to the truth...no matter the cost. But is it worth it in the end? By the end, we are no closer to learning the truth about Tara but we do learn the truth about Carl's murder and Jade's involvement, if any. I didn't like many of the characters and the only one I did actually like was killed off. And even then there was no resolution. Too many loose ends at the end of this one for my liking. But what really did it for me was the blatant prejudice and misrepresentation of Staffordshire Bull Terriers. Jade owned one called Ziggy but the author painted him as a vicious brute when staffies are anything but. It was alluded to that Ziggy would attack anyone because he didn't like people. So not true. Staffies are people lovers. They make useless guard dogs for this reason.
It was a mess. Don't bother reading it.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me an advance copy.

Thank you NetGalley and publishers for the opportunity to ARC read The Perfect Patient by Luana Lewis

I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this read! It kept me hooked for the entire story, and I couldn't put it down because I was gripped and felt like I needed to know what was happening!

I do think the twist itself was pretty predictable and didn't give me any kind of jaw dropping/shock factor, but it was still a fun read overall and I think people who are newer to the thriller genre wouldn't necessarily guess the twist.

Overall, really enjoyed and would recommend!

The first half of this book I found to be pretty slow, however the second half definitely picked up the pace and there were plenty of twists and turns. I enjoyed the different time POVs, however felt in places it was a bit choppy - and there were snippets in the book where I thought oooh that's interesting - and then nothing came of it. I liked Tara's character, and her perseverance in doing the right thing.

I did find the end somewhat disappointing, and there was a lot that was left unanswered, but it was overall a good easy reading psychological thriller.

THE PERFECT PATIENT By Luana Lewis

An innocent young girl? Or a dangerous killer?
The first time I meet Jade, I can’t help but be impressed by her. Young, smart and confident, she’s everything I wish I had been at 18. But Jade isn’t any ordinary teenager – she’s accused of murdering a man twice her age. And it’s my job to find out the truth.
As we settle down to talk, I sense something change in Jade – a hardness to her answers and an unwillingness to co-operate. She claims she didn’t kill him, but I’m not sure I believe her.
When she starts skipping sessions, I visit her family home unannounced and I immediately regret it. Her father makes it clear I’m not welcome, her mother seems to stay in the shadows. What are they hiding?
As Jade begins to open up, her family suddenly halt the sessions, and I know I’m close to finding out the truth. Then I spy a late night visitor standing outside my little cottage watching my every move. What is the secret someone is trying to stop from coming out? And could I have put myself in unthinkable danger?

😊What i liked -

✔ Psychological Thriller/Suspense.
✔ Pretty Twisty is what i will call this book.
✔ A constant back and forth of past and present manages to keep you interested.
✔ It was interesting and kinda twisty.

🤔What could have been better -

✔ Here comes the BUT... The story in many places was amiss for me.

This was a really great thriller! It’s not often that I don’t predict the twists but this one got me a couple of times. I was hooked from the start and couldn’t put it down. It didn’t give me the WOW that a 5 star would but I had a really fun time reading it.

I really enjoyed this book. There were some unpredictable twists. I very much connected to the characters of Tara who was the pyschologist. I loved the hearing the background of Jane.

**A huge thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and Luana Lewis for the opportunity to review an ARC of this book**

wow!
This book follows Jade, a 17 year old girl with no violent history and no known mental illnesses, who is being charged with murdering a man double her age.

Her therapist is close to getting Jade to open up when her family quickly stops her sessions, but why?
what are they hiding? why do they not want the truth revealed?

I was hooked the entire time.
If you liked "The Housemaid" this is totally up your alley.

I felt like the pacing was a bit slow for me and found myself putting the book down and struggling to pick it back up during the second half of it.

Tara was a character that had me intrigued throughout the whole book but overall something just fell flat and by the end I didn’t feel like all my questions were answered.

I did however enjoy Luana’s writing style so would definitely give her other books a try.

Thank you to Luana Lewis & NetGalley for sending me an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This kept me guessing, sitting at the edge of my seat, and being a couple minutes late coming back from my break at work to finish the chapter, because I could NOT get enough. I'm obsessed with psychological thrillers, and this one definitely made my list. If we're playing 20 Questions, this book made me ask 20,000, for all the right reasons. Pick this one up, guys!!!!!!!

Through Bookouture and Netgalley, I am reviewing a copy of The Perfect Patient:

Is she an innocent young girl? Or a dangerous killer?

Could I have put myself in an unimaginable position of risk?

I give The Perfect Patient five out of five stars!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for this Arc.

I enjoyed the premise of this book but I found it to be quite slow overall.
The characters were fine but nothing super exciting.

I didn’t see the twist coming until right at the end but I did enjoy the twist
