I had high hopes for a book set to beer and this one certainly had all the right ingredients: opposites attract, coworkers/rivals...it was just a little flat. I loved the theme and the beer snippets at the start of every chapter. There was just something missing for me. Thank you so much to the publisher for the eArc!

Liked the concept and the setting at a brewery, and at first book was really cute! But I felt like the romance was more of a business relationship than one I was cutesy rooting for. I didn't really buy into the chemistry and felt more like the mmc was a dickhead, even when the backstory came out that serves to explain his attitude.

he premise of a down-on-her-luck brewer and her privileged boss clashing in a quirky pub had potential, but the execution fell flat for me. The characters felt one-dimensional, and the romance lacked the spark needed to make it compelling. While it had its moments, the predictable plot and unremarkable dialogue left me feeling indifferent. Not the worst read, but definitely not a memorable one either.

This book was cute and if I was into craft beer I think I would have enjoyed it even more. Its so interesting to explore titles were the characters have different passions that you do in real life. I am a bookworm and so books where the characters also love reading always call to me. Branching out to a read about a FMC who wants to be a Brew Master was different for me. I enjoyed the little facts about different types of beer at the start of each chapter it was cute.
I think this book left things to be desired. The characters start as rivals and argue throughout the book start to finish. I feel like we never get to the root cause of that and they kind of just write it off to be together. I also feel like I never fell in love with the couple the chemistry just wasn't there.
I also feel like there were unfinished threads of the story like the owners of the brewery and the FMC relationship, the MMC family drama, the FMC family drama. I think it could have just all been expanded on.
To summarize I just wanted more depth and better understanding of the characters and their relationships.

This was a fun take on romance. I haven't seen one set in/around a brewery before and I thought that was a really original idea. I also liked that the FMC was the one wanting to become a brewmaster. Fun, great time all around.

If you are looking for a fun jaunty time in your romance reads, this will be the book for you.
This is a book that I had such a fun time reading.
If you are a fan of the move, Leap Year, I would recommend this book for you.

This was fairly charming. The beer description chapter headers were fun, and Kat is a relatable, interesting main character. I think the romance in this one felt a little forced, and the best parts of the story were Kat's quest to pursue her career.

I’ve Got My Mind Set on Brew by Stephanie Jaynehad well-developed characters and a plot that was engaging. This book was a great read. I highly recommend!

I was drawn to this book the title of the book. I liked the concept and I thought it would be a fun read. The book started off good but in the end I was just not in love with this story. I felt that the main characters didn't have chemistry. They were really immature in my opinion. This was just an okay read.

Kat works at a brewpub where she’s been an unofficial apprentice to the brewer. It wasn’t a career path she’d ever expected, and she’s excited about the possibilities. However, the pub’s future is thrown into question when the owners sell it, and the new owner who’s unfamiliar with the business takes over. Naturally, Kat and Ryan bump heads. Both have something to prove, and it’s a matter of whether they’re willing to set aside their differences to make the pub a success.
It’s a slow burn romance where the romance stays in the background as the real star of the story is the beer. The punny title says it all! It’s very much Kat’s story and her ambition to excel at the craft (no pun intended). I liked that even though she knows she’s attracted to Ryan, she’s not a pushover and doesn’t lose sight of her own goals. Every chapter begins with a quick anecdote about craft beer, how it’s prepared, can have personality, or even suit someone’s personality. Since I’m not a beer drinker, I thought it was a nice touch.
This is Jayne’s debut, and I enjoyed meeting these characters and stepping into this unfamiliar subculture. I look forward to more from her. Fans of craft beer and microbreweries will enjoy the taste of this!
Highlights:
* Craft beer talk
* Workplace romance, adversaries to lovers, slow burn
* Found family, small business community
* Strong FMC
* Chicago
Heads up: strained parental relationships, mention of cancer (owners at the beginning)
Thank you @netgalley @alcovepress & the author for my arc in exchange for an honest review. 𝗜’𝘃𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝘁 𝗠𝘆 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝘄 is out tomorrow!

This is a cute read that brings Kat to know exactly what SHE wants and sees Ryan facing his family and making the business a success. Kat and Ryan don't always see eye to eye on the bar and she is definitely NOT getting what she wants out of the deal, but can they come together to be a success?

thank you to netgalley for the advanced reading copy. I really enjoyed this and will be getting copies for my shop.

I just had to smile at that witty title! This book throws us right into the craft beer scene. I’m not usually one for beer, but the details about the brewing process were fascinating. It was also a fun touch to have each chapter kick off with a beer description!
The story heats up when Resistance Brewpub undergoes some big changes. Kat Malone, who's gunning for a brewmaster position, isn’t too happy when the new owner, Ryan, shows up with plans to turn the pub into a sports bar to boost sales, ignoring her application for the assistant brewer's job.
Kat is a standout character—she's sharp, funny, and a bit cynical. The romance between her and Ryan is a slow build and it’s more sweet than fiery, but it's a nice, realistic progression. Plus, he wins major points for buying her books.
Really, even without the romantic wrap-up, this story would have been great.

I really loved this book, I am always a fan of the trope when characters don't necessarly like each other at the beginning and then they starrt to know each other and they start to slowly like each other. This book has done this trope very well.

A quirky workplace romance set in a small brewery in Chicago. Kat is obsessed with becoming a professional brewer when her bosses decide to sell the brewery/ restaurant where she works. Ryan is the new owner’s son that starts to manage it. Kat keeps trying to prove herself so she can have a chance at being the assistant brewer. She mostly comes off as cringey but her and Ryan have a mutual attraction that turns into a romance, kind of. The romance seemed stilted.
To be honest, this book is less of a romance and more of a general fic/ journey fic. Kat learns to find her way and her potential when she is not around Ryan and the brewery.
Thanks to NetGalley and Alcove Press for this eARC.

I'VE GOT MY MIND SET ON BREW - Stephanie Jayne
GROWTH AND CHANGE - 4 stars
Plot - 4 stars - After a job loss and a bad breakup, Kat discovers a surprising new career as craft beer brewer. But the brewpub is sold, and the new owner places his light-on-experience son in charge of the pub. Despite clashes between them, Ryan confides that drastic changes will be needed if the pub has any hope of survival. Forced to collaborate, Kat realizes Ryan isn’t as bland as she assumed—he might even be exactly what she’s been craving.
Writing - 4 stars - This is a new-to-me author, and she caught my attention right away. I wasn't in love with the characters at first, but she allowed me to get to know them and gradually get to like them.
Characters - 4.5 stars - This is where the story shone for me. I'll admit that I was totally against Kat at first. She was so entrenched in Resistance as it was that she couldn't see it as anything different. So she was the "resistant one," unable to recognize any benefits to change and growth. But I enjoyed watching her find herself and learn to accept the "good changes" around her, making her own choices rather than just going along with what was best for everyone else. Ryan, for his part, is also willing to make changes, although it's not always clear that these changes will benefit Kat as well.
Title - 4 stars - A cute play on words, reminding us that this is a romance, but with a "brew" twist.
Cover - 4 stars - I'm not usually a fan of cartoon-y covers, although they seem to be currently trendy. But I like the big mug of beer and the bright color to draw the eye.
Overall - 4 stars - I suppose Kat's life had been in the same mode at the brewpub--kind of stuck in a rut without any plans to change or grow. So it was fun to watch her learn how to reach out and/or accept help and advice in making changes. The story kept moving forward quickly and kept my interest throughout. I enjoyed the main characters as well as the supportive ones who added more depth to the book.

I liked this book though it took some time. I like the back drop of the story and all of the little pieces worked through. It created some interesting dynamics and depth in the characters with some cool information regarding the brewing process.

The romance is its worst element. We find the protagonist, Kat, confronting Ryan forever, all the while secretly admiring his looks. Like a chameleon changing its colour, Ryan's behavioural pattern seems to alter every five pages. After a while, all these elements get too repetitive and boring. The banter between them rolls out pathetically, devoid of making any sense. Their conversations are not organic and don't even possess the charm of a talk with an AI chatbot. The entire romantic angle seems to be as accidental and disastrous as their first encounter. The ending is also as unimaginative as the rest of the plot.

This one was just fine for me. A cute, fast read, following Kat, a female brewer who just wants to brew her own brews amidst brewery politics in a male dominated field. Each chapter started out with a description of a type of beer which was a fun way to lay out the character's relationship with beer.
The romance on this felt flat and the male main character's story line was cringy to me. He's a nepo baby handed a brewery and just felt whiney to me. I almost wish this hadn't been a romance because Kat's story and rise to becoming a brewmaster was way more fun to read about!

While I really wanted to like this book it was so difficult to get through. The storyline was extremely repetitive and it felt like the characters kept moving around in circles, but never getting anywhere. The main character was frustrating and I didn't really enjoy her.
I also thought there would be a little more romance, but this book focuses a lot more on what's going on to the brewery, rather than the love story developing like it would seem from the synopsis and title. I didn't understand the love story piece of this when it was clearly more of a fiction work with a smidge of romance thrown in just for funsies. Except it wasn't fun.
If you prefer your romances to focus more on the side story and less on the romance story then I could recommend this one. Unfortunately it just wasn't for me.
