It’s the little things that Molly Grey notices that help her solve cases. Plus everyone underestimates her because of the way she talks and acts. For the second time someone dies on Molly’ watch. The author J.D. Grimthorpe is murdered and Molly must solve the case before poor Lucy, her maid in training is accused of killing him. The murderer was not who I was thinking of, so I was surprised at the end. When Detective Stark offers her a job she is surprised. This was a good read. I received a free book from NetGalley and the views and opinions are my own.

I absolutely loved The Maid. I enjoyed the main character Molly and her grandmother’s relationship. Molly is the main character of the book. After being promoted to head maid Molly finds herself in trouble with the law yet again. A famous novelist is coming to the hotel is make a huge announcement. However before he can make that announcement he drops dead. Molly and her team of maids work work with the police to get to the bottom of this crime. I really enjoyed how Molly’s grandmother was also present in this novel and really enjoyed seeing the progression of her and her grandmothers relationship. Overall this book was very good and I loved reading it!

I simply love these books!

I loved The Maid and if I'm honest, I think I enjoyed this one even more!

Molly is one of my most favorite characters. I love the way she thinks and I love the things she says. She jumps off the page.

This one is a fun and twisty mystery.

If you liked or loved The Maid then you must read this one!

Molly The Maid is back and better than ever. A smashing follow up to The Maid, my absolute favorite book last year. Nita Prose creates beautifully unique characters like Molly who is so sweet and smart but just a little different. Her one liners always brought a smile to my face. I also loved the past and present story lines giving even more insight to her ways. This was a true definition of a cozy mystery and can’t wait to read more.

Molly the Maid does it again! After a promotion to Head Maid at the Regency Grand, she finds herself once again tangled in a mysterious death. With flashbacks to her childhood interspersed with present day events, we learn more about Molly, her grandma, and even get confirmation of some suspected close connections (at least, it was one I suspected!)

Our book club read The Maid in Fall 2023, and when we found out the next instalment of Molly’s tale was coming out, we were all on board. While I did love the first book a smidge more, this was a great showing for a sequel, and the story was just great and the characters just as quirky. The ending hints at a possible third book, and I have to say I’m here for it!.

I highly enjoyed The Maid and I think The Mystery Guest was a solid follow up novel. I love Molly, she’s perfectly imperfect. I wish there was more of the side characters especially Mr. Preston. The mystery kept me guessing and I didn’t figure out the killer until it was revealed. While I enjoyed this novel there were a few things that irritated me, mainly the definitions of words in conversations, it don’t think it was necessary but understand it for Molly's character. Overall a fun cozy mystery.

Although not as gripping for me as the first in the series, this was a very enjoyable mystery story. If you read and enjoyed the first in the series you will equally enjoy reading this next chapter and I hope there will be more in the series.

I needed something to break me out of a little reading funk and I knew Molly would do it. This mysteries are so unique and my version of cozy. I love the twists and just Molly totally being herself. So nice to have it all tied in with her life previously. It’s just as good as the first - loved it.

The Mystery Guest • Nita Prose ⭐️ - 4 stars

I loved being back at the Regency Grand Hotel to solve another cozy mystery with Molly. It was great to see the personal growth she has made since The Maid. It’s always so interesting to see things through Molly’s unique perspective and I liked the dual timeline with the past and present giving us insight into Molly and even her Gran’s past.

I shouldn’t have been but I was yet again surprised with the reveal at the end and am starting to look forward to these revelations that NIta includes.
I’ve come to the realization that I really enjoy Nita’s writing, and she is becoming a favourite author of mine!

And Molly The Maid is back!
Already loved The Maid last year and The Mystery Guest is even better.
Nita Prose created a wonderful character - Molly is so sweet and smart with very peculiar attention to detail - she is your best friend immediately.
And also thank you Nita Prose for giving a voice to the housekeeping staff - they do incredible hard work and don’t get enough credit often. And Molly is very proud of the work she does, it is amazing to read about how she wanted to become a maid since childhood - not a president or a ballerina, or an influencer.

It is a beautiful cozy read - just get your cup of tea (which can solve almost everything!) and enjoy Molly’s adventures.

What can I say? Cozy mysteries are my thing if, and only if, I especially like the protagonist. And I especially like Molly Gray. I don't know how many murders we can expect Molly to solve at the Regency Grand, but I'm down to read along every single time.

In my opinion this one was not as good as the first book.

Also, I didn’t think that the writing was of the same quality.

I much preferred the innocence and directness of the main character then.

Here, about 4 years later, Molly is more matured, eloquent and shows more confidence.

Regardless, the book was entertaining and easy to read.

The structure was interesting, mixing present and past, giving us more backstory about Molly’s early life, but the telling was a bit repetitive.

I do recommend reading the first book, “The Maid”, just for character development.

I will be looking forward to reading the next instalment, if released, just to see if Molly will stick to her original profession.

This was the perfect follow-up to the Maid series. I loved how the past connected to the present mystery. The characters evolved in spectacular ways in this novel. Highly recommend if you also devoured The Maid.

The Mystery Guest by Nita Prose

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

* Thank you to @netgalley and @penguinrandomhouse for providing a digital copy of And The Mystery Guest in exchange of a honest review.

Once again, I was charmed by Molly, her Gran and Mr. Preston. It is a soft thriller since the book isn't all about the mystery part in my opinion. It is way more about the life of the main caracters and the retailing of how they end up in that situation. Absolutely loved it.

It was great to dive back into Molly's life and the goings on at the Regency Grand. I have to admit I had my doubts about how the author would embroil Molly and the hotel in another murder but it was all very well done.

While I didn't enjoy this as much as The Maid, it grabbed my attention from the first page and kept me guessing through to the end. I thought the switch between the two timelines was handled seamlessly and gave just enough information each time to keep the main plot moving forward.

Kudos to Prose for giving readers another highly enjoyable mystery with a cast of quirky, and yet still somehow relatable, characters.

My thanks to Penguin Random House Canada for the advance reading copy.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book. I enjoyed reading this. The story focuses on a boutique hotel and the staff, mainly the maids who are led by the "Head Maid" Molly. There is the murder of a guest quite quickly, and it turns out that this guest was a famous writer. The story basically kicks off from there and becomes a classic "whodunit" type of book. The tone is light and at times humorous thanks to Molly and her very literal personality. She takes great pride in being a Maid and takes her job as the hotel's "Head Maid" very seriously. She strives for perfection and sometimes takes herself and her surroundings a bit too seriously. She is an integral part of figuring out what happened to the famous author, who we find out has a surprising connection to Molly and her beloved, deceased grandmother (Gran). The final conclusion was not one that I saw coming. There was a also a bit of a surprise for Molly herself in the end. This book was well written with a "Sherlock Holmes" type of vibe.

This one was just okay for me. I really enjoyed the first one so had high expectations for this one. Sadly it didn’t quite hit them for me.

I was super excited to get my hands on this book because I really enjoyed the first book. I love books with quickly main characters.

In the Mystery Guest Molly is back as head Maid of the hotel. When yet another murder happens at the hotel, Molly finds herself tangled up in it once again.

I thought I’d really enjoy this book and I didn’t mind it but I did find myself tired of a lot of the same repetitive banter as the first book. After reading the book I really do feel that these characters should have been left at the end of the first book.

I want to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy of the book.

I gave The Maid 5⭐️ nearly two years ago when it was originally released. I remember enjoying the mystery as well as the unique main character. So it pains me to say I didn’t feel the same about the sequel, The Mystery Guest.

Molly was so endearing in The Maid but I found heavily relying on her “quirks” in The Mystery Guest tiring. A lot of Molly’s grandma’s little sayings, phrases, and memories repeated. I found myself bored and truthfully it was a chore to finish.

This very well could be a me problem and so I encourage you to pick it up if you enjoyed The Maid.
