There's so much going on in The Perfect Date that I thought it might be a spoof or pastiche on the psychological crime thriller.
If the main trope isn't juicey enough - woman on a dating app finds the bodies of 2 men she dated - Julia Crouch throws in all manner of sub plots and red herrings. All the male characters seem highly suspicious, including the investigating police officer.
I was slightly puzzled by our heroine's popularity with men as she seemed so ordinary compared to her mum Ruth or frenemy Marcie.
Towards the end of the book it all becomes a bit surreal with some unexpected reveals and discoveries.
As far as I know the staring woman with turquoise hair didn't figure in the action.
Sharp, amusing and fast paced.

The Perfect Date is the first book I have read by this author but I can promise you that it won’t be the last. There was a tension throughout the entire book, straight from the beginning when Caz and her dog Joe find the body of the man she has been dating. I guessed whodunit early on, but then the twists and turns had me second guessing myself and when the killer was revealed at the end I was shocked, despite the fact that I had honed in on them earlier.

If you enjoy books that keep you guessing from the start and shock you with twist after twist then you need to put this on your TBR!

Loved the daughters and the new mother by this author so was excited to get stuck into the perfect date. Wasn’t sure what to expect from the book cover. I can't wait for this to come out and for y'all to lose your minds. if you had doubts about preordering, don't. you're going to want to read this one. I raced through it this weekend. Such a smart idea. Twisty, warped, credible. Brilliantly plotted and compelling. Deserves to be such a hit.

Caz is a dog walker after giving up her teaching job through the stress it brought her. She now has a successful, well known business that she enjoys. A while back she was out walking a group of her dogs and she found a body- yes it’s always the dog walker she thought, what a cliché. The thing was the body was that of a man she had met online and was dating. She later found out that he was married but hadn't told her. Now she has found another body- and it’s another man she was dating who was also married- coincidence or just down right odd?. Last time she told the police of her relationship and was hauled in as a suspect so this time she’s kept it quiet. She is also house sitting for a friend and client and there are some odd things happening around the house. What is happening and why?

I really enjoyed this. There’s a sense of tension and drama even around what first appears to be Caz’s general life and days. Things having been left or moved or opened and the sense something isn't quite right. A whodunnit in a very different way and one that put me on the edge of my seat rapidly turning pages. A clever concept well executed, one I thoroughly enjoyed.

"The Perfect Date" was an absolutely gripping read! From start to finish I was completely immersed in the storyline. The author crafted an intriguing tale of mystery and suspense .

Throughout the course of this story I was constantly re-forming "whodunit" theories as the story twisted and turned with unexpected revelations. I love when Thrillers defeat me and this one did just that, not a single one of my guesses was correct.

I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys reading twisty Mystery Thrillers!

Thank you Julia Crouch, Net Galley and Bookouture for providing me with an ARC of this book!

Two bodys found by the same girl.. both of them her dates. Can't be a coincidence can it?

This book is full of twists and turns that'll have you on the edge of your seat, waiting to see what will happen next.
The start is slow, but once you get to the middle of the book, it is so worth it. A dog walker with a freaky past, odd stuff happening, ex boyfriend back in the mix and more? Sign me up.
This book was well worth the read! I can't wait to dive into more of her work.

I thought this was brilliant! I've never read anything by the author before but the blurb really intrigued me.

The writing style was really nice and pleasant to read, and the story was really well-paced. There were enough characters to create a good range of suspects, but not so many that they feel under-developed. I found the plot so interesting and the book was really hard to put down. I also loved the dogs!

There weren't really any negatives, I really enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it.

It has happened again. Another murder. Why? Chaos. These realistic characters keep this story moving quickly. I kept wondering what would happen next. Thanks to Netgalley for this book.
