This is a really nicely-done story about a family of monkeys that go to visit Kerala in India. Mike is excited to find out that his parents have planned to vacation there, and the trip definitely lives up to his expectations!

One highlight is their visit to the amazing butterfly park, which is home to hundreds of species of butterflies. They also have the opportunity to meet any number of local animals, who extend their hospitality - which is a very important cultural value throughout South Asia - and also to sample the delicious cuisine and experience an elephant ride.

In the process, Mike (and the reader) learns a lot about Kerala. I also liked the information included in passing about India's core value of secularism, and how different communities live harmoniously together in Kerala - the same cannot always be said of other parts of India, so Kerala is a shining example.

This is a fast paced, interesting story with cute illustrations, so it is a good book to share with young readers - particularly in order to awaken their interest in exploring the wider world someday. I'm giving this one 3.5 stars.

A monkey family traveling across India! The pictures are colorful and bright. Literally, each page looks sparkly! The ebook version only displays one page at a time, so my toddler only stayed entertained in brief spurts if there wasn’t a picture to look at. The story allows kids to learn about India and some of the culture there. My daughter did like Mike and was always asking, “where’s Mike?”

The graphics were very cookie cutter, the same poses and faves on multiple pages. Kids don’t notice those things just parents.
