this book had so much potential but was executed in the wrong way. The romance had no depth and there was no chemistry between them, like I didn't feel the spark you know? also the pacing felt off. At some point while I was reading, I was looking to see how many pages I'm at, because I was evidently getting bored. Also Jenna's back and forth reactions to her feelings was frustrating, like one day she is like no I don't want him he betrayed me, then the next I love him? like I said pacing was off. Overall, the book picked up pace at the end and the family drama was interesting and I enjoyed it. Furthermore, there were so many plot holes that weren't resolved like did Jenna get valedictorian or did Melanie joy did? Did Jenna go to her favored university? what happened to jack? just wish those were wrapped up more and we got a valid explanation at the end. Overall, an enjoyable read, I just wish the writing style was different and the characters had more depth to them and we really feel the romance blossom between them.

I really wanted to enjoy this book, but unfortunately there was something about it that fell a little short. I can see where it could've been good, but I couldn't. Everything kind of made me frustrated and made me want to not read it.

British teen star Fraser lands a role in a Hollywood blockbuster. To prepare for the part, he transforms into a Texas high schooler Ethan. To maintain his alias, Fraser must follow three rules during filming: no dating, no drama, and no revealing his true identity. But when he falls for schoolmate Jenna, can he keep his secret?

This is a sweet, engaging, heartwarming YA romance. Family drama also plays a large role in the story. The pacing seemed a little off, with too little time spent on the romance and too much on the break-up. Overall, it's a fun story with likeable characters and an uplifting ending.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Seventeen year old Scottish movie star Fraser Anderson temporarily relocates to Austin to film a movie. His producers require him to go undercover as student Ethan Smith at the local high school. Jenna Wiley wants to focus on school, not dating. She has a strict no boys rule for herself going into senior year. When Jenna and “Ethan” meet on the first day of school, sparks fly. They’re both committed to being friends only for their own reasons, but the more time they spend together the harder it seems to stay in the friendzone.

Fraser’s sister is addicted to drugs and has been missing for over three years. When they get a call that she’s overdosed but found in time, the family flees Austin for good. Fraser’s cover had already been blown, though, when a member of the welcoming committee recognized him and told Jenna who he really was. A series of missed communication ensues while Jenna wrestles with whether or not she can forgive Fraser for his major lie.

This was a cute YA romcom with some surprisingly heavy subplots. I was a bit taken aback by the inclusion of the missing drug addict sister/drug overdose. It felt a little bit out of place when the overall tone of the story was so much fluffier.

Secret identity trope . Check .
The male character's a celebrity. Check.
This book had all my favourite things which I look into my books.
This book revolves around Fraser who's a celebrity and has been offered a role in a Hollywood movie set in Texas. He enters the high school with a pseudo-name " Ethan Smith" and meets our main girl - Jenna who wants to be an engineer and nothing gets in between in her studies. But she's in for a surprise when she falls for Ethan who's cute, shy and dorky .

I loved loved this book ! If you like high school romances , secret identity trope you should surely go for it !!

Extremely addictive and completely unputdownable. Once I was sucked in, there was no chance of getting out until I read the last page.
