A fun and quirky collection of science facts with a great sense of humor throughout. Not super cohesive but a great compilation.

A mixed bag of short essays that were originally part of Nerd Night presentations from all over the world. The book is arranged in chapters with several essays in each, all related to a broad topic. While some essays were delightful, others were confusing or overly pedantic. In addition, the book showed far too much of an unquestioning bias toward the opinions everyone "knows" about scientific topics that are not settled. Since one of the fundamental principles of science is to question things that are not objectively proven, it would be nice to have heard from people with more open minds.

How to Win Friends and Influence Fungi by Dr. Chris Balakrishnan; Matt Wasowski has collected quirks of science, tech, engineering and math from Nerd Nite.
The details were just interesting, with fun facts and amazing illustrations any STEM enthusiasts will absolutely love this book right here.
I thought HTWFAIF was truly an interesting and well written non-fiction read.
The writing was easy, and descriptive.
It was fun and different from I usually read and if I enjoyed it others will absolutely enjoy it.
I would like to thank NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to read this ahead of its publication date in return for my honest review.

How to Win friends and influence fungi is a enjoyable, if somewhat quirky non-fiction read. If you are looking for cool trivia , odd art , and something to spark your urge to learn more this is the right book for the job .

What these Nerd Nite essayists have in common: a sense of humor, an expertise in the specific subject matter, a love for the world through the lens of the hard sciences, and terrific drawings. It would make a great coffee table gift for young curious minds. Though it may not offer much depth in the various subjects of the short essays, it's bound to spark curiosity and intrigue, and at minimum, leave the reader with a few fun trivia tidbits about the vastly interesting world.
